  1. One thing I know for sure... the is OVERDUE for newer trains. The R142s on the the other weekend was somewhat of a nice relief from the same ol' rotten R62As that are their.
  2. I read an article from the New York Post couple days ago talking about R62A 1872 being the hottest car to receive the most complaints and it is to be taken out of service for extensive A/C repairs. This car was recently SMS'ed as well as alot of the R62As on the . They really need to get it together with this subway fleet considering the day in age that where currently in. So far this summer I've been on some rotten/garbage R62As with no A/C and horrible interior lighting.
  3. Sigh, this whole thing just seems like a dumb game of "mine is bigger and better than yours".
  4. They should've never broken up R62A (1921-22-23-24-25) for the seatless experiment on the 42nd St Shuttle. They already had enough Livonia R62A sets for the Shuttle to do that. Lately I've been hearing more and more of "we are being held by train supervision".
  5. I'll put my two cents in on this, first and foremost I will NOT get my pants wet over the NTTs but riding the R142 on the this weekend was sort of a relief for a change. IMO the maintenance at 240th St yard have been depleting on those R62As, the interiors look real depressing and dreadful, that's just on the sets that don't have the LED lights in them yet. Not to mention alot all the R62As that have been SMS's already look and operate like garbage. Now as a railfan or civilian I don't care what train I ride to get to work whether the train it's new or old. I understand New Generation but even that term can be really cringe worthy for me considering what I've seen first hand on this generation. People want more, more, more to fast and I think this so-called new generation tends to forget how bad New Yorkers had it back in the 70s & 80s with the subway system being how it was all around. Again, I know times have change, but there's absolutely no reason to stress over subway train models just because of perks that your only going to endure for several minutes depending on your commute.
  6. Currently on my way to work uptown, just saw R62A 2221-2225 pass by me going up the . I suspect its either or going to 207th shop or returning back to 240th yard.
  7. As a daily rider on the , I can tell you for as long as I can remember that particular stretch of the line has been a cluster (you know what) of NOISE. You only hear the intensity of the noise on the track beds especially when your on a train that's not that crowded. Going northbound btw 145th & 157th Streets and also southbound btw 168th & 157th St the trains unbearably rattle through the tracks with decibel levels as high as the appropriate mark. The track work that's been interrupting service north of 137th Street the past few weekends has been track removal/replacement on the Broadway Bridge and on the M track around the 207th Street station. There's also some new white LED lights in certain parts of the mine tunnel btw 157th & Dyckman Street.
  8. Will or might there's some difference, but I do see your point. I want to point out I saw 1908 at 207th St Yard doing refuse duty.
  9. That formation makes no sense. Why would 2091-2095 go back to Corona yard a second time? Its already a linked 5-car.
  10. Pretty soon, 1701-1705 & 1726-1730 will join that ongoing list. Also 1911-1915 set is still not linked as a 5-car set, still coupled as single sets.
  11. This. Should keep things in order. Common scene.
  12. I would like to point that R62A 1716-1720 (Westchester based) is at 207th St Overhual Shop receiving SMS treatment. By far the first set of many from the to get it. The end bonnets look like they've already been cleaned up.
  13. Its in service, just saw it at grand central.
  14. Thats what I was asking earlier. Apparently, there still needed on the . Some of the loaned R62As have been there going on 4 years.
  15. Any status on the 240th yard R62As sets, are those stay on the ?
  16. Makes sense keeping those R62As there for Work Service, Refuse Duty, etc.. considering the retired single-units WF-R33 & 36s that were used for these sort of task are no longer their since early 2017. Those R62As can provide some AC comfort during the summer. Also, seems as if the R188s continue to cycle through 207th St Overhaul Shop. I saw R188 (Converted) 7541-45 layed up outside the shop recently.
  17. 1923 is still at corona yard alongside 1906 & 1907.
  18. Its complete nonsense and there's still another week left of this to deal with.
  19. 1954-57-58-59-60 are grouped together and are layed up on the same track as 2081-85 & 2091-95 at corona yard. That leaves only 15 single 62A sets that remain unchanged.
  20. So an R62 from Livonia was put into service on the today between New Lots Ave & Woodlawn. The consist was 1491-95 & 1581-85.
  21. Those 62As on the that are loaned from the should be destined back over to their home base (240 St yard). SMS overhaul work is wrapping up on all of 240 St R62As, just today I saw at least two 1800s that were freshly out of 207 St yard overhauled and running on the . The loaners that are currently on the are whats left to be SMS'ed (2221-25, 2346-50, 2456-2475 30 sets) then the attention could go over to Westchester's R62As which in all likely hood are badly need of some decent maintenance.
  22. It may seem likely, however there's plans to transfer the 62As from the .
  23. When I rode an R188 on the last week, the majority of the trip from Times Square to Willets Point was on CBTC bypass.
  24. Hard to believe it's already been a month since the R62As on the were sidelined from service on the Flushing line. Had a chance last week to take a look at Corona yard from the boardwalk and noticed some interesting sightings regarding those 62As. All the 1900s single-units are deployed around and laid up within each other while the 5-car linked sets (2081-85/2091-95) were also laid up next to each other. 2071-2075 was in the maintenance barn being checked on. Some of the rollsigns display , express, Special, (11) rollsign on car 1926, there's even a express shown on 62A car 1924.
