  1. They were at Westchester Yard for a brief time this past year, but moved back to Livonia Yard.
  2. I thought they were stored/maintained at Livonia Yard line in Brooklyn...
  3. Not to mention corrosion from the body paint, I remember seeing shades of red on the roof of the trains.
  4. Do you have a clue as to when the loaners are going back to the ?
  5. R62A 1761 got back its missing LED indicator light.
  6. Why is it "bad" that they have to be used a little longer... and if they start dropping like flies, then whats going to be used to make up for service, unless theres more R160s to spare. Now its a decent deal for the R32s to run on the lines cause its mostly outdoors and in the summer that puts less stress on the AC units not having to withstand the ambience heat and steel dust of the tunnels like on the . What justice would it do to tell the MTA to learn their lesson. They are clients for Bombardier who are the chosen builders for the R179s, and frankly as we speak are not meeting their scheduled deadlines that they've agreed with the MTA. So the MTA, had to take initiative to keep R32s longer than expected for service expansions and are getting SMS maintenance to keep them at a moderate state of repair. I don't know whats so bad to keep them running a little longer. Yes I know their past the average age of a New York City subway fleet and yes they are antiquated compare to the "beloved NTTs" and yes they are as old as my parents are, but they still work and until the 179s and 211s arrive on the scene then this is what we've got for now. As far as for the MDBFs on the R188 goes, first and foremost the converted sets have been running at least over a year since being retrofitted to R188s so give it time, Corona Yard as good as a maintenance barn it is, as of now has much to handle in the sense that their still maintaining the R62As that are left before being transferred over.
  7. I'm interested to eventually see how the 19xx singles on the will be arranged.
  8. Welcome to the forum, RFW means Rail Fan Window-front or back view of the train which are and were normally found on the older train models (in retrospect there's no motorman cab in the way and a clear view of the tracks inside or outside.) A G.O. means General Order, when a line is diverged to a certain track or subway route during time of contruction or maintenance work. For example, the travels on the in manhattan or the running express btw 96th & 145th street instead of running its normal local route or when the its cut btw 34th St hudson yards & queensboro plaza. Another term is CBTC, Communication-Based Train Control is when the exact position of a train is known more accurately than with the traditional signaling systems. It makes use of the telecommunications between the train and track equipment for the traffic management and infrastructure control. The goal is having trains running "closer" together to reduce waiting times and heavy crowds on platforms during rush hours. This system is already implemented on the and currently being installed on the , hence the G.O. term and eventually on the Queens Blvd line.
  9. Haven't been on the for a week and a half, I'm assuming 7536-40 has been pulled out of service yet...
  10. They're bound to replace the rest of the R32s & R42s. The R46s I believe if I'm correct or not are going to be replaced by the R211s. The R68/As aren't going anywhere anytime soon. But, since the R32s specifically will remain another several years with the R179 delivery process, they're replace what's left of the R42s and the rest I can only speculate on.
  11. Reliability in the sense of digital display & automated announcements.... big deal. Eventually all that will come but for now it is what it is and the chips fall were they may. The line won't be entirely of SMEE equipment, there'll still be some R142As left over. It's NOT gonna be the "end of the world," the used SMEE equipment many years prior to the year 2000. I dont think passengers care about reliability of service so much so then getting a seat, whether theres AC in the summer and heat in the winter, and getting from Point A to Point B as the ol'cliche goes (in peace) as long as the train is working & moving and the subway's are running. Also, you have the & EXPRESS for your NTT delight indulgence.
  12. Were getting close to 40 total sets of NTTs on the , and counting.
  13. Yea, but theres a DIFFERENCE in acting like clowns, and doing illegal drugs in public on the trains.
  14. According to info from SubChat, theres only 6 more R142As 10 car units that are left to be converted running on the .
  15. I wasn't alive in the 70s & 80s to witness all that but I've heard stories so yea I would imagine lol. But at this point, I wouldn't be surprised if we would retort back to those days.
  16. Like one of the commuters said, the NYC Subway has become a "zoo". Its almost impossible to ride the trains in peace without having constant disruptions and bull****. This is why I feel bad for the younger generation of kids who are exposed to this type of garbage. Welcome to the MTA people.
  17. Yes I know about the R142As going to the , hence the name of the discussion thread.
  18. Sending the 1800s to the is what SHOULD of happened in the first place. As far as putting the LEDs lights on those sets, I dont even think Westchester knows how to even install those things let alone maintain them.
  19. Also, those suppose it R62As permanent loaners dont have the LED lights. I though the whole point was to tranfer the R62As that has those lights to the line since it has the express/local distinction. The red paint at the bottom of the doors could mean anything. It just seems silly knowing more R62As are coming from the and all of a sudden the loaners are permanent to Westchester. Hell theres a few R142A sets that were originally from Westchester running on the .
  20. The actually has 1 10 car set and 5 more, which makes 15 cars.
  21. Well the is gonna need more trains for increased service eventually and those sets are based out 240th yard.
