  1. Well some of the LCDs on the R142As look like trash as well.
  2. The 103rd st southbound platform on the lex line is open.
  3. Probably a little later than that. I understand that the life cycle for a NYC Subway fleet is give or take 40 years but I would think that the MTA might extend the life cycle of the "converted" R188s to keep up with the newer 88 & C car sets. I know Corona takes care of their rolling stock so I believe the R142A/R188 conversions wont look so beat up, time will tell.
  4. Amazing that it's been 14 years since 9/11, alot has changed and Cortlandt St on the is still to see the light of day.
  5. Well I can remember even from my childhood days seeing pigeons flying around in the stations still to this day. Those stations are landmarks of the city and are the closest to illustrate a grander feel of the original IRT stations sort of like City Hall loop. A portion of the arch bricks at 181st St fell onto the tracks in 2009, you talk about 6 years with lack of progress. If Fulton Center station dowtown can have mutiple renovations within the last few decades just to make it look pretty and "unconfusing" then why does it take soo long to fix up these stations uptown. I think it's pathetic.
  6. Does it really matter who does the annoucements? I thought the whole point for automated annoucements was to here a clearer voice of the subway stations & messages, not the tone of the persons voice.
  7. Nope. They are taking FOREVER with those stations and quite frankly it's like a third world country when using those stations. The residents uptown have dealt with those stations being in disrepair for far too long already and during the summer months if your lucky enough at the 168th St Station the air vent is on for some fresh breeze but still inhaling asbestos & steel. They we're suppose to be finished by this year but I guess it's Wash Heights so the commuters their wouldn't mind the current state of those stations in their mind.
  8. Probably the same voice who does the current announcemnts on the R188s if I'm not mistaken, just one extra added station.
  9. I think in current total that makes about 34 R188 sets on the with 165 more sets to go.
  10. I meant when the event is over and they take of the ad wraps.
  11. I have a feeling once the US Open is finish the R62A 2026-30 with the ad wrap is next to go to Westchester.
  12. Those purple stickers look like garbage.
  13. IMO theres no need for stickers at all. I just hope corona doesnt put them on the R188s, the current ones on the R62As are hideous. R62a 1791 had one of its stickers removed but I guess they gave up in trying to remove them.
  14. I find those purple/lavender stickers to be an eyesore on the R62As.
  15. I could be wrong with this statistics from wikipedia but, R62A - Width: 8.60 feet (2,621 mm) Height: 11.89 feet (3,624 mm) Platfrom height: 3.65 ft (1.11 m) R142A - Width: 8.60 feet (2,621 mm) Height: 11.89 feet (3,624 mm) Platfrom height: 3.6458 ft (1.11 m) So either is you or is probably the few inch door difference between the rolling stock.
  16. I thought it was clear that they did a field shunting on them.
  17. Lately I've been impressed of how well the R62s kawasaki have been managing & performing. I've seen them with new trucks, some new lighting inside and their air conditioning seems more cooler as well. I rode an R142A & R62 on the same day this summer and the way the AC on the R62 felt, it puts the one I felt on an R142A to shame.
  18. You do realize that they run about 30 trains on the during rush hours. Having the do this sort of express pattern IMO doesnt solve anything when you have a 4 to 5 minute headways. Plus, some trains come directly out of 137th St layup to provide AM rush hour service.
  19. On the updated subway map with the inclusion of the 34th St Hudson Yards they took out the left section where the train skips 138th St Grand Concorse during peak hours.
  20. Uhh No. What's the whole point in bring back the ? You know this topic has been talked about so many times already it's like beating a dead horse. Enough already with the , it's been 10 years without it and haven't heard or seen a riot come up because the was discontinued.
  21. Ironically, theres about 2 or 3 10 car sets of 18xx coupled together currently. 1826-30 is coupled with 1871-75.
  22. R62As 2005/2010 - 2015/2020-2025 is also on the .
  23. Actually I think there's about less than that. A few 74xx sets are currently at Kawasaki, one more 74xx 10 car unit left on the , plus 7501-7590 which in total is 10 unit sets left to go from Westchester to Yonkers. I don't know about you guys but I thought I'd never the line back to a sort of 90s' state with the R62As.
