  1. From the looks of things as you go past, two years is very, very generous.

But Cortlandt Street is also cerebrating it's 15th Anniversary - closed...

Also, the FEIS needs to be updated.

They don't even think about it because of NIMBYs.

Could you elaborate? What are NIMBY's?

  2. ...

It's not that we don't understand what he said, the problem is that what he said doesn't really make sense with what was mentioned earlier.

It isn't the first time either...

Then please address me directly instead of fuming at other members. It's true, historically I've made off kilter comments but there is a directive in each.

  3. GOs are mainly reroutes or suspensions for construction purposes. This particular one was part of the "Fix and Fortify" program, which, in the future, will prevent another Hurricane Sandy situation with the flooded tunnels and such.

If mother nature struck now we'd be owt.

The MTA probably bribed her too...

BTW that spelling error was on purpose. The Flintstones would be better builders than they.

  4. Wait, so then why does it still say on the site that (2)'s are running to Rector? However it says nothing about the (3).

This time (2)(3) service isn't being throttled. That has now been applied to the (4)(5).

Some service change posters remain up because they apply to multiple weeks. Not this weekend...

  5. God dang it I wanted to catch the 2 to Rector :/

Eastern Parkway is flipped this weekend so (2)(3) service will run as usual in Kings CTY.

However (4)(5) service is getting cut this time. There will be no (5) service along Southern Blvd this Sunday and no (4) service past City Hall.

I suggest taking the (R) if you enter Fulton St (or if you read my post and use your UL ride MetroCard to skip systems.

Of course, the usual 7th Avenue charm is OK too.

If I remember correctly (E) trains are rerouted by the (F) line but this time on both flanks. Instead of WTC they terminate at 2nd Avenue - East Houston St station.

  6. Speaking of redirection...

Just happened to a (5) train I was on, blindsiding us all without warning. She said the next and last stop was Flatbush Ave and I tell you, riders were livid.

  7. Not to mention it works on both my desktop or iPad.

Maybe my alphabet is missing it.

Android, Windows and iOS all released new emoji this past summer and I'm running a Lolli build of Android from last November.

It's quite possible I saw it on my desktop client which I loaded custom emoji sets.

  8. Many (F) trains were on the Manhattan Bridge today. There were also many (D) trains on the Culver line and a couple of (R) trains made it in service to Coney Island via West End.

There was flooding at Columbus Circle that same day and (B)(D) service was adversely affected.

I couldn't take the (D) to Bedford Park Blvd reliably so I took the (F) and Xferred at 63rd Street to an uptown (4). Five more stops, yes, but ten less minutes because the (4] was instructed to skip four stops to terminate at Burnside Ave.

    Sweet.

  9. It's perfectly visible... he meant that the people who replied ignored it or chose not to regard it...

But I didn't see it either. I made the same mistake once too.

System emoji selector is ignored by the forum by default, nobody in particular.

  10. Apparently no one saw the emojii...

You have to use forum emoji or they won't become visible. I realized that using my system emoji won't work.

But once I post, my system emoji design (S4) overrides the forum design (iOS).

  11. I agree 100 percent....Like i said before where in 2016 and the R shares a yard with just 2 other lines with over 700 R160s...at 3$ fare ill rather see an r160 pull in on the R than a r46 that ran on that line forever....for a line that runs thru 3 boros should have R160 on it because to me it is busy enough...im not saying that it should be a all r160 line but most of the R cars should be r160s considering jamaica has just the E F....

You know your stuff. It really is good to know I'm not as extreme a transit junky as you and the others. You guys make me seem normal.

Then again, so does the whole city.

  12. Is there something going on with the R46s?

The (R) was wall to wall R160s today; during my two trips I saw 10 R160s and only 2 R46s.

That's because the (R) has been extended to Jamaica - 179th Street. I believe they have more access to R160s used by (F) cars since Queens bound (F) trains are rerouted via the (M), meaning they have less headway so they can spare those cars for the (R) more.

  13. Service changes only happen on weekends, late nights, and middays. With the service changes you're referring to, there's absolutely no point in creating a combined strip map for that, which is why the MTA often makes brochures with the information and maps on that change.

With your argument of the (A) / (C) and (F) sharing "several stations, switches, and station designs", there's no need as the R160s have FINDs, and they're able to display this info easily. Not to mention that it's really not that good of an argument for a combined (A) / (C) and (F) map.

And no... the (J) / (L) combo map is just as useless (if not more useless) than the others, since those two lines only meet at one station, and the R143s on the (J) are mainly for the (L) and thus don't need Nassau Street Line strip maps.

I'm not even going to mention the (J) / (G) map because I don't want to make my headache worse than it already is after reading this... But that's got to be the most useless idea out of all of these by far...

(That last one just made all of Wallyhorse's proposals look legit. [emoji38])

Fashioning it like a roller is plausible. That way, you could turn a key and transform the map immediately. That way there'd be no reason to combine them like the (2)(5). You could simply stitch them to a belt.

When it comes to suggestions I'm on a roll... ',:-)

  14. But... why? There is no point in creating an über confusing strip map on the basis that "Hey, these lines might share cars... possibly."

The (A)(C) share literally two stations with the (F). Creating a merged strip map would make as much sense as creating an (E)(J) shared strip map. The fact that they share switches, station designs, and are a part of the IND is barely a justification for such extravagance. Why not, then, create a merged (A)(C)(G) line map?

Not permanently. In fact, the lighting system is fixed in a way that allows for the map layer to be hot swappable.

By no means did I mean permanent. Last Wednesday I was on the (2) and it the array was akin to the old (2) strip map even though the new one was there.

So I figured they could hot swap the outer layer depending on what they wanted to use the train for. Don't tell me it's impossible. But I'm sure they're just lazy.

    I can relate...[emoji42]

  15. The (2) and (5) only have combined strip maps because the fleets of those two lines are so often shared. The (4)(6), (3)(4) and (A)(C)(F) don't share fleets, so such a venture would be pointless.

Lately they have. Those suggestions are in line with recent service changes.

Also, the (A)(C)(F) may not share a fleet, but they share several stations, switches and station designs. And they're all a part of the IND division.

You have to remember this is the guy who also suggested (J) / (L) strip maps in the R143

That would make even more sense as (J) have borrowed (L) cars often. And when construction begins on those tubes the (J) might as well have a (G) combo map too.

Lol...VG Im surprised you dont have a car by now...You have 0 patients when it comes to the subway...

Agreed. And I have way too much, I just don't spare any down here where transit is at its most deplorable and disrespected.

The constant shutting down of those lines is bound to have DYRE CONSEQUENCES... OWO

  16. I saw to many R42's today on the (2) signed up with the weirdest destinations lmaoooo.

One was signed up as a 2 to Chambers, the other was signed up as a 2 to Rector, the other was signed up as a 2 to Bowling Green, the other was signed up as a 2 to South Ferry, the other was signed up as a 2 to 14th.

    SO MANY 2'S LOL.

By the way, how come the NTT'S announcments glitch when the (2) program to Rector St goes on?

That's part of an ongoing service change that excludes (2)(3) trains in Brooklyn. More exclusions like that are coming soon. Based on what they did with the (4)(5) which were extended, unlike past weeks, the repair focus was solely Lower Manhattan otherwise there would be no service along Eastern Parkway.
