  1. Okay. How many side chicks stay with a broke ass man paying alimony and child support? Lemme know what you find out.
  2. It is. But my question is why is the fare so high to begin with when PA pays no tax, has only maintenance staff for AirTrain, and already collects PFC on each plane ticket that takes off. Has anyone actually audited PA’s books to see what division is undercharging and forcing AirTrain fares to be so high?
  3. So Andrew Yang was asked and was stumped (link), and it made me wonder if others have one. Mine is the part with the Aaliyah sample: Been hoping for my entire adult life that he’d bless us with a full track version.
  4. I’m trying to count how many times I took the DLR and forgot to tap out since the ones at Shadwell Station were fairly obscure, while on the Tube - like DC Metro and BART, the barriers don’t open unless you tap or insert the ticket. That’s why I like faregates.
  5. That’s where you use the Paris Métro style entry/exit fare gate: Takes work, time, and gymnast flexibility to get around these.
  6. It would be nice if the railroads were more like RER, but that would require more builds, interagency cooperation or amalgamation, and reformed labor practices (ie why can’t the railroads have turnstiles for entry/exit instead of conductors putting paper on seats).
  7. The flaw to your analogy is that while the side chick has the attention and affection, the wife can take all his money and end the side chick’s reign just by calling the lawyers and being hardline during the mediation or trial. There’s more native NYers and (like me) assimilated NYers than transplants; we easily could make the transplants and hipsters “get on board” or go home by doing like how @Via Garibaldi 8does or all of Harlem did with SAS. Nihilism never achieved anything useful.
  8. In 22 years of being eligible to vote, I’ve only missed two elections: the California General in 1998 and the Sacramento County special in November 2013 - both because my absentee ballot didn’t arrive (‘98 I was in Atlanta for school, ‘13 I had just moved here and mail wasn’t going to my PO Box fast enough). Haven’t missed any election since I changed my residency to NY. And every time, I shlep down St Marks Pl and inside the church to answer the three questions on the ballot and keep it moving. And back when I was a Californian, I’d drive to the church for my precinct, answer the 20 questions on the four pages of ballot sheet, and keep it moving. So I don’t get why it’s so hard for natives to do that when Trump isn’t on the ballot. I get NY drains the soul, but it might be that folks like you and I understand nothing changes if we don’t agitate for change, and 5 minutes (in NYC) to fill in some bubbles is the easiest way to effect the beginning of change AND piss off those spoiled suburban gentrifiers by not letting them get what they want at everyone else’s expense. /soapbox
  9. As the descendant of a native NYer who grew up hearing native NYers complain about NY then go do something else, more of you need to be like @Via Garibaldi 8 and less like the folks on sitcoms portraying NY. Only reason those gentrifiers get what they want and NYers don’t is because they were trained to B&M and march and lobby to get what they want while NYers generally B&M and then ignore the rallies and elections. We could have RBB getting EIR’d and funding identified to get folks from 53rd to JFK if NYers B&M’d loud and constantly enough. Hell, were gonna cancel SAS Phase 2 until Harlem put feet down and said “BUILD THIS” and put the pressure on. VG8 gets routes, frequencies and stops changed bc he and his folks do the same AND network with decision makers. IJS.
  10. But that doesn’t answer my question: Maybe I should’ve said “…MNRR instead of NJT or even Amtrak?”
  11. So does the shuttle between Whitehall and 95th St still run overnights?
  12. So why are these Penn Station slots going en masse to MNRR over NJT or even Amtrak? I get not every person in Connecticut or Dutchess County works on the East Side, but imagine the congestion relief on the West Side if NJT had more slots for frequent service at Penn - especially if ARC’s successor is built. So why is the LIRR capacity going to MNRR?
  13. You said that with your whole chest like Jay Rockefeller and Robert Byrd never existed.
  14. But now it's a "Night Bus" proposal if we need to shut a line down to accelerate a MTACC or MOW project. I also edited the entry for
  15. I'd rather they set up a nighttime SBS scheme replicating subway lines and stops instead of a '99 "Let's try and be in the middle of everyone and service two lines". Example: -Bus: South Ferry to VC Park via 7/8Av and Broadway - all stops -Bus: · Bk segment: Flatbush to City Hall via Nostrand Av, Eastern Pkwy, Flatbush Av, Livingston St, Boerum Pl/Bk Bridge Bl - timed transfer to Manhattan Segment · MNH segment: City Hall to 149/3rd Av via Chambers, Hudson St/8 Av & Varick St/7 Av, Broadway, 110 St, Lenox Av, 145 St Bridge, 149 St. Express Stops only · Bx Segment: 149/3rd Av to Wakefield via Westchester Av, Southern Blvd, Boston Rd, East Tremont Av, Morris Park Av, White Plains Rd. -Bus Shuttle replicates it between 149/GC and Morris Park/White Plains making Express Stops both directions -Bus: · Bk Segment: New Lots Av to City Hall via Livonia Av, 98 St, Ralph Av, Eastern Pkwy, Flatbush Av, Livingston St, Boerum Pl/Bk Bridge Bl - timed Transfer to Manhattan/Bronx Segment; Express Stops only · MNH/Bx Segment: South Ferry/Bowling Green to Woodlawn via: State St, Broadway/Trinity Pl, Vesey St, Park Row, Lafayette/Centre St, Broadway/Lafayette St (Spring St downtown-bound), Broadway/4th Av, Park Av, 38/39 St, Lexington/3rd Av, 3rd Av/Willis Av Bridges, 138 St, Grand Concourse, 149 St, River Av, Jerome Av; Express Stops in Manhattan -Bus: City Hall to Pelham Bay Park via same route as MNH-Bx to 138 St/Concourse, then 138 St, Jackson Av, 142 St, Southern Bl, Westchester Av, Wilkinson Av, Bruckner Bl for turnaround loop. Local Stops I'd do the others but you get the idea. And to make it worth it, Flat fee fare of $4 or $5 and unlimited rides - like Dublin, Ireland's Night bus. Since the network did survive somewhat during the Pandemic, we have a blueprint for BUStitution to speed up CBTC installs and/or FasTrack reconstruction.
  16. Joe Manchin's doing what anyone with limited time does: grab the spotlight and try for a national profile. It's good to be the king. Problem for him is all Dems need to do is hold onto their seats and take Pat Toomey's seat after his retirement, and Joe Manchin no longer matters. Demographics will force Synema to remember she's not a centrist. But Manchin's decided to choose violence to keep his seat instead of making allies. So let Dems pull Ohio, and/or Beto take Cornyn's seat in Texas, and Manchin's a Republican or voted out in '24. He's trying for his think-tank or lobbyist job.
  17. Politics 101: 51-50 in your party’s favor > 51-49 in the other party’s favor. Lesson learned when Jim Jeffords of Vermont left Bush’s GOP and caucused with the Dems in 2002.
  18. Why pay them when they’re not doing their job? If the beat is the subway, and there are whole substations in the subway for the transit bureau set up to patrol the subway beat, yet you rarely see them in the subway, do they need: a) the same funding b) more funding c) less funding since them not doing the job is wasting our money on unnecessary overtime and less “safety”, or d) replacement by officers who have the ethic of walking their assigned beat at all times instead of those occasions when shit happens and UWS monied interests complain and get PIX 11 and the Post to cover and sensationalize their failures? It'll be interesting to see how you rationalize dereliction of duty as a justifiable thing here.
  19. Here I was hoping that when I get my stimmy and buy my hybrid bike, Flushing Meadows would be my first destination on it. But if you’d rather Manhattan over Queens, I may rethink that first ride
  20. I’m really disappointed now since if I waited til now and got vaxxed at Penn or Atlantic, I could’ve gotten a LIRR ticket to Montauk.
  21. Years ago some guy on a Specialized refused to not almost hit me daily crossing 6th Av on 19th St. He was mad that time he tried and somehow got clotheslined. Those bike lane users on CPW hated me for stopping at reds and making them wait for green or for traffic and pedestrians to clear. Bike riders today are the entitled drivers of yesteryear mad pedestrians needed time to cross streets.
  22. Technically they’re supposed to because the Feds only bought the vax - not the delivery tools and infectious disease prevention items. Frankly I’m of the mind that this whole pandemic should have these billings pared back to cost plus something under 1%, and patent waivers since the global poor suffer with the global not poor, but I’m not a world leader. And thus goes making the simple humanitarian thing complicated because of greed. /mini rant
  23. If only NYPD Traffic Division had a bike unit that patrolled outside parks on bikes to cite adult bike riders for riding on sidewalks… And for running red lights when pedestrians and cars are queued on the street with a green.
  24. I believe it’s asked only at medical offices and pharmacies bc they have to bill for delivery devices - syringes, gloves, etc
