  1. Metro north and LIRR I believe are over priced. They should actually lower the rates on there.
  2. Of course I understand it. However people who don't own a car nor drive. To agree drivers should foot the bill for a public transportation system and not pass the bill onto its customers. Imo are people who want to capitalize off of the backs of drivers. So I will ask you do you drive?? Do you own a car??
  3. Do you drive?? Do you own a car?? I get charged a large amount for registration for insurance. The city tickets driver left and right. This doesn't happen in other cities as often. I'm all for audits though.
  4. It's simply penalizing the people who drive in. Keep it as is. If I want to drive and not take public transportation don't gouge me like they've gouged the people who smoke cigarettes. It's easy for people who don't drive maybe don't even have cars to be for congestion pricing. I do both. I don't think it's fair not one bit.
  5. There's a surcharge of phone bill that goes to the mta?? I know cell phone bills don't have that. I don't have a land-line. Bridges and tolls are supposed to mainly go to the upkeep for the bridges. Ubers you are right. I think people should pay the cost to use the trains and buses. Don't tax me cause I drive to the city that's ridiculous. I also take the trains and I'm fine with paying more. As long as congestion pricing doesn't occur.
  6. Idk what trains you take. I'm gonna say this. Mta nyc should cost more. It should be $3.50 per ride and bused should be $2.75 and Transfers between the two should be half off. So it should cost $4.85 or so each way to location if you take both. They should be more vigilant of people skipping fares on bused via the back door. Ferries should cease being subsidized. Staten Island ferry charge them for taking it. All the other ferries as well. Do all this and THEN look into overtime for the MTA. LIRR and Metro North those you can look at now. They've always gotten paid more and had better jobs. Do this and don't add a congestion tax. I drive to the city and sometimes I'm driving in from NJ not every day but 3-4 days a week usually I'm driving in. Why should I fit the bill when you don't charge your customers what you should at least first???
  7. I'm speaking about the bailout. Yes Bankers were making bonuses while people's houses were going into foreclosure. Millions. There is corruption of the highest degree in financing, In politics. There will be an investigation for sure. They are going for a new contract their contract just expired. Caputo took too much and they got too greedy all the people on the list and others who were eating off that overtime train. If they would've kept it the way it was a few yrs ago things might've gone less noticed. Please don't fall victim to them putting this story on blast to mask the other abuse Many people commit. Including millionaires who get away with paying less taxes than they should.
  8. Caputo is my hero Real talk 💯. He's a legend. People up in arms. I get it but they just ignore the bankers and others who make millions off people's taxes. . Meanwhile they are going in depth on Caputo.
  9. I agree people shouldn't listen to others with these hiring freezes unless it comes from MTA themselves. And also if you and others want to pray that's good. However while working at MTA is a good job. My dream job entails sitting at a desk in an office and earning $250k+ while working 9-5pm
  10. Idk what number you are Riku but anything under 3k I'm guessing strongly that you will get hired. They move up this list. Last list lasted what almost 10yrs. Schecter I would put money down you'll be going to class before the yr is up.
  11. https://nypost.com/2019/04/23/mtas-top-earner-made-344k-in-overtime-last-year/ Caputo is my hero 👍👍👌💯
  12. Mid 1900's. I think base conductor is about $23.75 or so. And they keep you there for 2 full years. With a slight cola that's maybe 3%.
  13. I think it's around $31 per hr. I make that already and in 1.5 yrs ima be at $37 75. Hence the hesitation in leaving my job.
  14. The 5 years to reach max applies if you do 2 yrs c/r and then 3 years t/o?? In other words 5 years and then you max in any position you transfer to?
  15. Such a positive post more and more its looking like I'm going to pass on this opportunity. However I wish all of you nothing but the best. Lot of positivity on this forum. MTA is lucky to be gaining many of you as employees 💯
  16. I would imagine from DCAS statement that at the most there is a slight chance 845x has a chance of getting hired since they are eligible and you at 62xx have a chance of getting hired as well before the list expires in 2022 if im not mistaken. Which they may or can expand a yr or two like they did with the prior exam.
  17. You're lucky for this job at least that your 5th number in your soc sec number is either a 0 or a 1. Because we are 500 numbers away with the same score, If i remember correctly. With the 5th number in my soc sec number being a 2.
  18. The last test was given before the old one expired. They may have extended it before then though not positive. The last list with extensions that list lasted 10 yrs or so. I would imagine this one gets extended at least once before it expires in 2022.
  19. Union kinda strong. Free meals, free comp at other places but i never take. That's base pay. If i was at 100pct I would've made $113k. I've got co-workers work two jobs two spots 35 hrs each= 70 hrs making about $125k. Just that pension is what intrigues me oh and the extra sick days. 12 compared to 8 and I get 9 paid holidays. I think transit gets more right? "A sick day is a sick day free for my union Brothers to use when they need to" - business agent. I can take a leave of absence. Another issue is I gotta get on my bosses to put up more OT. Myself and another co-worker the only ones in our department really fighting for more OT sometimes we get it sometimes we don't.
  20. I've also asked the same and got a similar response. Ok let's say you have want to work OT you want to work 50-55 hrs per week. Is that feasible?? On base pay at my job I earned $83k. I worked approximately 50hrs or less per week. My pay is up 14pct. So will definitely go and ask questions about ot and everything else I'm curious about.
  21. Isn't this something you could bring up to your union rep?? Idk at my job any complaints such as this magnitude I contact my business agent. And it is discrimination. Gender discrimination which happens for sure. Sounds like it's a tough place to work at. How about change of schedules do they approve with co-workers? I change my schedule from time to time.
