  1. Whenever I need to go to my bank, I don't want to take a 47 minute walk to Cedarhurst so I take the train to my bank in Williamsburg. Same thing when I drop off a package to UPS. I don't want to take a 47 minute walk to the ship & go place in Cedarhurst so I take the train to the UPS Store in Manhattan and turn right back around to Far Rockaway. I don't work Fridays-Sundays so I go to my bank or the UPS Store during those times. My father thinks it's a waste of my time.
  2. Let's end this LIRR vs subway discussion.
  3. I never had a problem those few times I took the LIRR on the Far Rockaway branch. The reason I always take the subway to work is because of cheaper fare, more frequency, can go pretty much anywhere in NYC for the same fare. Maybe the people on the Far Rockaway LIRR trains behave differently than the people on the other LIRR trains.
  4. So this is basically what I was talking about. Since the LIRR from Far Rockaway to Manhattan/Brooklyn is pricey, you won't see any low-lives or homeless people on the LIRR Far Rockaway branch. My fear is if they reduce the fare for the LIRR, low-lives and homeless people will start using the Far Rockaway branch as an alternative to the to Far Rockaway and the LIRR won't become a luxurious option anymore for people that don't want to hear cursing or deal with homeless people on their commute to Manhattan/Brooklyn.
  5. What about during the day? Especially the Far Rockaway branch?
  6. It's not as bad as the subways where these things happen every day. Every day I go on the subway and I hear cursing everywhere.
  7. That's one of the rare times of cursing on the LIRR.
  8. All I'm talking about is that right now the LIRR is more safer than the subway and goes through better neighborhoods. Arverne used to be a resort and now it's not such a good neighborhood because of people being inspired by the subways. I do think that the LIRR should get better headways like the subway but lowering the fares will pretty much make it an extension of the subway. Cursing is rarely heard of on the LIRR but is heard often on the subways. Lowering the fares on the LIRR could give people an alternative to Far Rockaway for the same price as the subway and get the people who often curse into long Island. Then they might start removing bathrooms from the LIRR due to the low-lives moving into long Island doing vandalism. The LIRR needs to be kept as a luxurious option to the subway.
  9. A few months ago when the R32s got displaced to the from the , I entered the Far Rockaway-Mott Av station platform at 9:17AM to get on my 9:23AM train to my work in Lower Manhattan. There was an R32 sitting in the station scheduled to leave at 9:23AM and there was another R32 pulling into the station scheduled to leave at 9:43AM. I wanted to avoid the R32s at that time so I decided to take the 9:23AM train to Beach 60 St. I then transferred to the Q52 SBS and took it to Queens Blvd/Woodhaven Blvd. I then transferred to the train (R46) at Woodhaven Blvd and took it to Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Av. I then took the train (R160) to Lexington Av-63 St. I then did the walk to Lexington Av/59 St. I then took the train (R142) to Wall St. I got to work about an hour late.
  10. I'm not talking about headways (they should reduce headways on LIRR), i'm talking about if they reduce the fare on the LIRR then low-lives and bad people will start moving in to LIRR neighborhoods just like what happened to the Rockaways.
  11. Will the R211s propulsion sound similar?
  12. Now that the 53 St Tunnel, Cranberry Tunnel, and Joralemon Tunnel is completed, the Canarsie Tunnel is next. How many more after Canarsie Tunnel are there left to do?
  13. Then all the low-lives and homeless people will take the LIRR making it what the NYC Subway is today and the good neighborhoods the LIRR serves well become bad just like the Rockaways.
  14. I didn't know that there's express tracks on the between 96 St and Van Cortlandt Park.
  15. What's the difference between the yellow M9s and the regular M9s. Also, why are the LIRR diesel trains double-decker and the third-rail LIRR trains (M series) single-decker?
  16. A conductor on the train I was on told me that they're thinking about extending the to Lefferts Blvd with the going to Far Rockaway-Mott Av and Rockaway Park with no more Rockaway Park shuttle. She told me that it can take up to 1 year.
  17. I saw R179 cars 3122-3125 on the test track area between Howard Beach-JFK and Broad Channel.
  18. As I came off the train at Fulton St from Far Rockaway at 10:22AM, I saw a redbird train leaving Fulton St on the downtown platform. It had Main St rollsigns. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough time to take a picture.
  19. The extra trains to Rockaway Park won't work because CBTC with trains every 2 minutes will result in a lot of trains in layover in Far Rockaway. The Q113/114 is not quicker because it's 8 minutes to the nearest bus stop with long waiting times resulting in walking being more quicker.
  20. A yard is for storing trains. Reads Lane Terminal will be a 2-track island platform with tail tracks so it can be possible to have 20tph for CBTC.
  21. The plan would be that the extends to Lefferts Blvd with all the trains going to Far Rockaway. Far Rockaway-Mott Av can only have 2 trains stored in there so they would build a complex Reads Lane Terminal station which would replace Mott Av with Reads Lane as the new terminal station and the new Reads Lane terminal station would be build with tail tracks to fit more trains. It would be really needed because of more frequent trains for CBTC. I'm keep on seeing Far Rockaway ridership growing.
  22. I'm working on a 2080 Subway Map: https://drive.google.com/open?id=12wgjZQjUEuVfkyD3JeR3HtnUk0dHiaJ9&usp=sharing
