  1. Do you know what set it was? 4 or 5 car set, Or 8 car train / 10 car train?
  2. I do not believe shooting objects at people for farebeating is the solution. Some of the stuff you propose on here is pretty extreme to say the least. Not surprising considering your history & reputation on this forum.
  3. That's what the MTA said themselves. The current goal is 20 cars (2 trains) per month. The original goal was 30-40 cars per month, but supply chain & worker shortage issues (both largely caused by COVID) changed that. Hopefully as time goes on, they (Kawasaki) can work their way up to the original goal. MTA also has to get all their crews trained & qualified on the R211s, which has been an issue according to all the things we've been hearing. Soon enough though, all of that will eventually be resolved.
  4. They said that it would be 20 cars per month. When you do the math, 1 train every two weeks is...... 20 cars per month.
  5. You're missing the point. Even of you didn't know it was a typo, you told another poster that it was 'philly slang' & that y'all use it sometimes. The phrase 'in droves' is not exclusive to philly. I'm a NYer & some of us say that here. You clearly misheard & misinterpreted what ppl were saying. It's okay 'cause like I said we're human & we all make mistakes. But when you realize you've made a mistake, just correct it. That's all I'm saying.
  6. Since there was a misunderstanding about this interaction, I'm gonna address it again differently. You used the wrong word. The correct term is 'in droves'. It was a typo. Since you didn't say it was a typo & instead doubled down on your claim, that was where the confusion began. But it's okay, we're all humans and we make mistakes. That wasn't slang, that was a typo. He meant to say 'in droves'. You misunderstood your fellow philly friend. Also, I apologize for offending both of you with my initial post; I was just confused when @FLX9304 not only didn't acknowledge his typo after being questioned about it, but also doubled down on it as if it was correct. Then @Ale188 went right along with it as if he knew what he was talking about. This is how a simple misinterpretation can turn into a bigger issue. We all need to work better on communication.
  7. Which is why ppl make lists to keep track of the units that are delivered / in service. They can just continue to do that if they care that much.
  8. While I understand the units are easier to track when delivered in numerical order, in the end it's really not that serious. No matter what order the R211s are delivered in they will all be here eventually. They did this with other car classes, the r211s are no different. The main concern is getting these cars delivered, in service & having all crews qualified for operation.
  9. @darkstar8983 what was confusing to you about @RTOMan's post?
  10. The only thing that's confirmed right now is the R211s pushing the R46s out of Pitkin. Everything else is speculation until further notice. The base order alone is currently not expected to be completed until at least early 2025. Option 1 would start soon after but wouldn't be completed until late 2026. With that timeline there is no way the & can all be 100% NTT by 2025. There simply won't be enough NTTs yet at that point. The MTA will figure out what to do in the meantime.
  11. Which is why I've been agreeing with y'all who've been saying the should go full length first before anything. But honestly, the more I think about this the more I realize it's probably better to just push all the r46s out of Pitkin first. The R211 order has already been delayed too long as it is. Plus the things we've been hearing about the overall condition of the R46s are not good. The cars are approaching 50 years of age, are in bad shape & are running low on parts. They just need to go. The first priority should be making the 100% NTT first. They can deal with the afterwards. Whether the line goes 100% NTTs first or full length first, both will likely happen back to back anyways. No big deal.
  12. They only need a few R211s in service to have a safe spare factor (they currently have 4 trains). The full base order is enough to push all the R46s out in a one for one replacement. Keep in mind that older cars require a higher spare factor due to having higher breakdown rates (in this case the R46s).
  13. Yeah that is true (about them sending the two XD40s to Fresh Pond). And it doesn't help that the XE40 order is currently delayed. Hopefully all of these issues will be resolved soon.
  14. Do you know why East NY has a shortage? They seemed to be doing fine for several months up until July. Btw, that would be 5 NGs at East NY currently.
  15. It was a typo like I suspected from the beginning. Idk why that was so hard for the original poster to say, & why it didn't register to the other poster. These cannabis dispensaries are making ppl even slower than they were before.
  16. And I'm tired of coming to this thread/forum to read & respond to nonsensical posts from some of these low-IQ posters. Maybe you can tell the individuals in question to stop 'cause I'm tired of it already. I just want updates on the R211s, preferably from the mature & intelligent folks on this board.
  17. Moving this over from the R211 thread You can speak whatever slang you want to speak. The point I was making is that you should know how to speak in proper English grammar as well as having better comprehension skills. The problem with you in particular is your comprehension skills which are clearly lacking. You do not present yourself well on this site & you should seek help immediately.
  18. The correct term is 'in droves' not "drones' lol. This isn't Philly, this is NYC. Plus both of you already have bad grammar & comprehensive skills as it is. So let's try sticking to proper English here please. Thanks
  19. I only suggested the 9 car train thing as a temporary answer to the mixed length operation. Obviously in the long run, it makes more sense to make the 100% full length. The 9 car train operation would've just been a stopgap solution in the interim (if it were possible). In my opinion, it makes sense to keep a chunk of R46s at Pitkin yard until the R211 option 1 order, so that the can go full length while they're still at Pitkin. An MTA document released months ago seemed to suggest this is exactly what would happen. With all the talk of how terrible the r46s are & how they should be retired immediately, it's very hard to tell just how things will play out. I know the r46s have lots of issues and they definitely need to be retired. But are they really that bad to the point that they can't at least hang on until we have a full length train?
  20. Well according to @Kamen Rider & @Comrade96, this operation wouldn't work in practice. See below posts. Okay, well that idea is out the window. Straight to full length operation it is then (whenever that happens). Btw, thanks to both of you for what you do. Be safe out there. It's a crazy world we live in.
  21. Since the doesn't go through a loop at either terminal, they could simply position the 4 car set one way (northbound) & the 5 car set the other way (southbound). Have all northbound trains stop at the 8 car marker, & all southbound trains stop at the 10 car marker. That way, the conductor will always be in the middle of the train (halfway point). If there is another logistical complexity to this I'm unaware of, someone please let me know. I mean if they really have to get rid of the R46s ASAP (which would be understandable), then this would be the quickest way to address the mixed length operation. But if they're unable to do it for any reason, then they can't do it. I just thought it would at least be a good suggestion.
  22. If it's indeed a 1 for 1, they should combine those r179 4 & 5 car sets for 9 car service. This move would kill two birds with 1 stone: make the one consistent length again, and push the r46s off the line.
  23. I really don't get some of these posters on this site. Always saying stuff that makes little to no sense.
