  1. I noticed there's a new exam up in June. What prerequisites are usually required?
  2. Because the Q102 connects to Roosevelt Island, that's the difference. The doesn't go to Queens Plaza, but the Q102 does.
  3. Well Brewer Merrick and Springfield are saturated with more limited service. Not local. If Woodhaven followed that model, there would be a local between QCM and Jamaica Ave, and one that went local to Jamaica Ave and express from there. But the corridor doesnt have the ridership or length for that.
  4. The amount of eminent domain needed to complicate an already complicated level junction at Myrtle Broadway...
  5. LIRR already has an abadoned branch line between Lower Montauk and Queens Plaza along Dutch Kills
  6. True. However, there has to be a way to terminate the Bay Ridge stub in Manhattan without negatively affecting Astoria service, and mitigating the yard access issue. The Nassau connection resolves that, no matter how unused it will be, it solves the yard access problem and makes the more reliable.
  7. is necessary to eliminate multiple Fulton express branches
  8. Or use a Wallyhorse idea of using Nassau Street to service Bay Ridge, I wouldnt do it with a divided train though. -unchanged. During rush hours, express in peak direction between Marcy Ave and Brodaway Jct. No skip stop service. -unchanged --During rush hours-Broadway Jct to Bay Ridge via Bway-Bklyn Local. Other times, Essex St-Bay Ridge.
  9. Or those CBDs could be better connected by lines of their own. If Queenslink doesn't work even though it uses existing ROW, have a train with an express variant take over the JFK Airtrain from Howard Beach to Jamaica (airtrain is cut back to Federal Circle), and via the between Jamaica, Flushing, and Parkchester. Lower Montauk would connect Jamaica to LIC. And yes, it would go across 34th Street, but it still would have most of the same transfer connections as a line on 50th Street (actually it would have more given the do not stop on 50th Street). A train can run between Downtown Brooklyn and Flushing via Lafayette Ave/Harman Street/Elliot Avenue.
  10. This could even be some sort of a micro-bus service similar to the Elmont Flexi. Simple running along 4th Ave in Bay Ridge from 86th Street , then via the Belt stopping at Bay Parkway, Cropsey Ave (Bay 50th Street ) , Ocean Parkway, Sheepshead Bay , Nostrand Ave, Knapp Street, Plum Beach (eastbound only) , Flatbush Ave, then split into a QB-1-via Belt Parkway stopping at Riding Academy (eastbound only), Rockaway Parkway, Pennsylvania Ave, Gateway Center, Cross Bay Blvd, Aqueduct-N Conduit , JFK Airport. QB-2-via Flatbush Ave stopping at Riis Park, Rockaway Park , Rockaway Ferry, Beach 67th Street
  11. That yard access for the will still be an issue even with the spare capacity, the deadheading is a lot. Also, 30 tph through Cranberry??? That seems even CBTC level impossible
  12. Which is exactly why a 34th Street crosstown would work and no need to shove more capacity into Midtown with 50th Street.
  13. They're also shifting to their core workouts at home
  14. For now, we need to engineer a station at Ditmars Blvd and Sunnyside for Penn Station Access and switch to a more S-Bahn-like service structure on the commuter railroads. The height at Ditmars precludes such a station, and it would be isolated from the rest of Queens, unlike a Junction Blvd-RBL line. Core concentration is good because that's where you need the most capacity. People are shifting away from traveling to a core area since the pandemic.
  15. The tracks from the Willy B are on the outer side so that shouldnt be an issue.
  16. Makes sense. Make the the running via 2nd Ave Phase 3. Terminating at 72nd St Lower level
  17. Thanks for the feedback. The purpose of the is for more Inter city connectivity. Transfers between the two airports, which could be made possible with a direct connection. When flights are diverted due to emergencies there’s more redundancy. The served a Queens Bronx connection the IBX won’t. in regards to the , given that 53rd and 60th already have crosstowns. The benefit of another crosstown further up seems moot to me. Better to have a crosstown on 34th St connecting to Penn. Regarding Lower Montauk, it may not need a lot of stations or service, because, as you said, it’s mostly cemeteries. However, it would serve a gap in the subway system along with QueensLink. I en if the and didn’t happen, the could be a compromise between those who want the park, those who want Lower Montauk Service, and those who want QueensLink service.
  18. Not many changes from the draft schedules that I noticed.
  19. It’s not just for that one area, but it could actually do wonders if done right. instead of tying into QBL I would have three services: -Howard Beach-JFK Airport- 34th Street-Hudson Yards vía. QueensLink, Lower Montauk, and a 34th Street Subway. If funding is limited, it could terminate in LIC instead at Vernon Blvd . -Rockaway Pk-B. 116th St-168th St, Manhattan, via. QueensLink, Junction Blvd-LGA, and South Bronx. The train would serve Yankee Stadium, LGA, and any new Rikers Island development. -A short turn variant of the mainly meant for airport travelers. Runs between JFK and LGA with limited stops, only serving Woodhaven Junction, Regó,Park, and Junction Blvd.
  20. It’s just simple geography. If everyone wants to go west, why take a train east? Thank you for understanding the logical nature of that point.
  21. True. And that same overwhelming opposition would occur if anyone thought of eliminating the Rockaway
  22. Unfortunately, they're already building the housing. Which means the transit service has to stay.
  23. There's actually quite a bit more proposed for the old Peninsula Hospital site, and for the area by the Rockaway ferry terminal. Also, a New Lots line extension would still be a local service.
  24. So no Broadway/2nd Ave connection then? That means this line is isolated from the rest of the system? How would you connect your proposed to the Willy B? Add another branch to Chrystie Street?
