  1. I'd do it this way. as is to Far Rockaway for the Brooklyn Connection -Metropolitan Ave-Rockaway Pk. -QBL Local to 71st Ave - Howard Beach/JFK- 161 Yankee Stadium, via. RBB, Junction Blvd-LGA, Rikers Island, 161st Street. This line would connect with the at Junction Blvd, LGA Airport, any new Rikers Island development once the jail closes, Hunts Point Ave , Intervale Ave , and Yankee Stadium .
  2. In the suggestion I proposed, Montague would only have two services, and . No need for anything else. can end in Hanover Sq or be extended to South Ferry for transit connections.
  3. And leave 2nd Ave as is, with an extension from Hanover Sq to South Ferry
  4. Yes. Many many MANY times. If you REALLY want to do that, have your run from Bay Ridge-Broadway Junction, and then have the real (which we will call ) run from Astoria-Euclid Ave. Save the cost of building a whole new tunnel.
  5. Or just connect Fulton Local to Montague. There's spare capacity anyway.
  6. I propose a "Shore Parkway Line", making the following stops: 1. Rosedale LIRR 2. Springfield Blvd 3. Farmers Blvd 4. Brewer Blvd 5. Rockaway Blvd 6. 150 St 7. 134 St 8. Lefferts Blvd-Airtrain 9. (Westbound Only) Cohancy Street 10. Cross Bay Blvd 11. Gateway Center 12. Rockaway Pkwy-Canarsie Pier 13. (Eastbound Only)-Riding Academy 14. Flatbush Ave/ ToysRUs parking lot 15. Knapp Street 16. Sheepshead Bay 17. Ocean Pkwy 18. Bay Pkwy 19. Bay Ridge-95th St
  7. On weekends, there's no harm no foul with this plan, though more crews would be needed. The doesn't go to Queens weekends anyway. It would actually provide expanded service.
  8. Or here's another plan (that actually might operationally work better than the current plan): -207th St-Far Rockaway, via 8th/Fulton EXP (no lefferts service) -Brighton Beach-Jamaica Ctr, via. Brighton/6th/63rd/QBL EXP -205th St-Lefferts Blvd, via Concourse LCL/8th EXP/Fulton LCL -145th/BPB-Coney Is. -168th St- Coney Is, via. 8th LCL/Culver LCL, switching at W4. -Jamaica 179th-WTC, via 6th Ave LCL, switches to 8th after West 4th -Extended to Forest Hills via. QBL Local -Broad St-Jamaica Center. Express in peak direction between Marcy Ave and Broadway Jct. -Metropolitan Ave-Chambers St. -unchanged -unchanged -Bay Pkwy-Forest Hills, via. West End/4th Ave/Bway/QBL LCL -unchanged - Bay Ridge- Broadway Junction via. 4th Lcl/Nassau LCL
  9. It’s not any worse than the switching at Queens Plaza
  10. This means losing service and Qns Plaza express service however
  11. Remember, this assumes a complete shutdown of 53rd, meaning only the and would be serving Queens Plaza.
  12. A more frequent could even run skip-stop service on crosstown, youd have a and a . After Ct Squ- serves Greenpoint Ave, Broadway, Classon, Fulton serves Nassau Ave, Myrtle Willoughby, Clinton Washington Both serve Metropolitan Ave, Bedford Nostrand, Hoyt, and all stops to Church Ave.
  13. The connects with the 8th Ave Line at Hoyt-Schermerhorn, the at Times Sq, Cortlandt, and Jay Street, and the at West 4th St (the also at Jay St)
  14. And the could run on 63rd. So in total -QBL Local/ 63rd -QBL Local/Crosstown -QBL express/63rd -QBL express/Broadway
  15. You would have to have serve QBL, express, local. If they wanted to send the along with the to Forest Hills they could but that would cause staffing issues since the is a glorified . The would run as normal.
  16. -unchanged. Skip stop service eliminated. Express in peak direction between Marcy Ave and Broadway Jct. -Broadway Junction-Bay Ridge.
  17. This has too many points of failure with the switches. If it must go past Essex, it must go to 57th, 96th, or 145th. Heres how I’d run things on weekday AND weekend -Brighton Beach-Forest Hills via. Brighton Express/6th Ave Express/63rd St/QBL Local -Lefferts Blvd-Forest Hills, via, Fulton LCL/8th EXP/QBL Local -unchanged -Metropolitan Ave-145th St/BPB via 8th Ave LCL -unchanged -Rockaway Pk-190th St. Stops at 155th St and 163rd St.
  18. Though there should be a Whitestone Ferry stop. You can literally see the Throgs Neck stop, so why nothing for Whitestone or College Point? The landing could be at that property at the end of 152nd St and 6th Road, where there could be a parking lot and a bus terminal stand. Of course now, theres gonna need to be a "Faster Connections" service for the Soundview route since I'm sure once Rikers is gone they're gonna add a stop there. In addition, I propose a new "Canarsie Route", running as follows: Canarsie Pier Rockaway Sheepshead Bay (Ocean Avenue) Shore Acres (Staten Island-Von Briesen Pk at the foot of the VNB) Tompkinsville Brooklyn Army Terminal (Rockaway route will now stop at Bay Ridge with a timed connection to the South Brooklyn route for the connection to BAT) Pier 11.
  19. More would use public transport to the ferries if they had free transfers, but they dont. In Rockaway, theres a shuttle bus for the Peninsula, as there is at 34th Street. Lower Manhattan has the Downtown Connector.
  20. https://www.timeout.com/newyork/news/riding-the-nyc-ferry-will-now-cost-new-yorkers-4-per-ride-071522
  21. Yes, there should be a GCT-Penn Station connection. Amtrak could use that more direct route when Metro-North needs Hell Gate for Penn Access. Also, there should be some Cross-LI branches. I propose the following Elmont Branch Branching off the New Haven Line by Co-Op City, this line would run via I-95/295, have a transfer opportunity in Queens Village, take over the Belmont Spur, and run along the CIP to meet the Babylon/Far Rockaway/Long Beach Branches at Rosedale, Valley Stream, and Lynbrook. Stations would be in Throgs Neck, Bayside Junction (new station with transfer to PW Branch), Cunningham Park, Holliswood, Queens Village, Belmont Park, Cambria Heights, Rosedale, Valley Stream, Lynbrook. Hempstead Tunnels/Garden City Branch Three tunnels would be constructed to reconnect the Hempstead and West Hempstead Branches, to connect the Hempstead Branch with Mineola, and to connect the West Hempstead Branch with the Far Rockaway Branch. This Garden City Branch would run from East Williston (end of Oyster Bay electrification), stop at Mineola, Country Life Press, Hempstead. West Hempstead, Hempstead Gardens, Lakeview, Malverne, Westwood, Brookside Junction (new station with transfer ops to Babylon and Long Beach branches), Gibson, Hewlett, Woodmere, Cedarhurst, Lawrence, Inwood, Far Rockaway. If the Oyster Bay branch is electrified it could be extended to Oyster Bay. Expanded Central Branch A dedicated Central Branch Line should run as follows Babylon, North Lindenhurst, Bethpage, Hicksville, Jericho, Brookville, Old Brookville, Sea Cliff Coram Branch Port Jeff, Terryville Road, Coram, Yaphank, Shirley
  22. Which is ludicrous. Jamaica to Bayside is $12.50 peak, and youre staying in Queens. Honestly, City Ticket should be accepted on all Port Washington Branch local trains from ANY city station, there's literally only 4 stops in Nassau County. Conductors just have to do a sweep after Little Neck. Same with say, Atlantic Terminal to Forest Hills or Far Rockaway to QV (all the trains do a sweep after Jamaica anyway so there shouldn't be any abuse here).
