  1. Could they also use these buses on the local Middlesex routes? I hope so because the 6100s are getting beat up and they're breaking down more often then not.
  2. I think the QR code is to verify the ticket is legit and not a screenshot. But the color and flashing bar at the bottom already verify that. It's kind of redundant I guess.
  3. So NJT buys these scanners (which I can't imagine are cheap) and then after less then a year of use, will disable them making them an expensive ornament. Way to go NJT. I guess the scanner/ornament is a great symbol for NJT mismanagement and reminds the riders what their 15% fare increase are going towards. BTW, Suburban's local buses (6148-84) just got the scanners less then a month ago and some drivers like it, some hate it and don't use them at all.
  4. Or their going to have "issues" like Amtrak is having with their Acela Avelia Liberty (also built by Alstom).
  5. Update on the Multilevel IIIs: "Here’s how much longer NJ Transit’s oldest rail cars will remain in use" - NJ.com TLDR: The Pilot Multilevel IIIs are expected to be delivered to NJT by the end of this year for testing
  6. It also seemed like he pointed his finger at his supervisor operating from the middle of the train for not stopping and nearly getting him killed.
  7. From what I heard on this forum and the NYCRail Reddit forum, the NTSB came because there have been many accidents within the MTA system. The NTSB wants to investigate what the root cause is of all these accidents.
  8. The NYCT twitter page confirmed it was a derailment near 96 st. 1 service is suspended between South Ferry and 137 st-city college in both directions. 3 service is suspended between 42 st and 148 st. 2 train is rerouted via the 5 in Manhattan. The 4 and 5 are making all local stops in Brooklyn. This is according to the MTA website. Will try to update as service changes are made.
  9. Is this fare upgrade for all routes, or just full service routes?
  10. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. I seriously hope that NJT considers firing that driver. Luckily it was a light rail and not an actual train where passengers could have gotten seriously hurt or killed. Also, those River Line trains do not move that fast. Driver 100% tried to beat it when it was too close.
  11. I ride Suburban Transit's buses in for the Middlesex county routes. None of the buses have tap and pay at the moment and I have not heard of any plans for adding the system to those buses.
  12. TrainTime has an LIRR M3 on train 1245 from Babylon going into Grand Central Madison. I thought the LIRR M3s couldn't go into GCM. What is going on?! https://imgur.com/a/THxn2Tr Update: The train was just cancelled at Jamaica because of the ongoing signal problems in and out of GCM. Very weird sight to see.
  13. Is there a significant difference between the suburban Nabis vs the standard transit versions besides the seats?
  14. 12 2006-2008 MCI 4500 (7137, 7139, 7146, 7153, 7167, 7168, 7161, 7171, 7173, 7175, 7178, and 9016) listed for auction on GovDeals https://www.govdeals.com/asset/323/6644
  15. 8 2006-2008 MCI 4500 (9002, 9047, 7136, 9014, 7151, 7170, 9050, and 9041) listed for auction on GovDeals: https://www.govdeals.com/asset/322/6644
  16. Does anybody know what the status is with the new Multilevel III rail cars? Weren't they supposed to begin testing them by now? I haven't even seen a built prototype, just the renderings from 2018.
  17. Looks nice, hopefully they'll be able to keep them looking clean
  18. Is NJT starting to retire the older NABIs, or are they just retiring the ones that have been in accidents and/or have been mechanically totaled?
  19. I'm not sure to be honest. It's just frustrating, especially when you have to wait another hour at Middlesex College. One of the drivers did tell me in September that they must cover the Metropark Loops (801-805), 810, 814, and 815. This is what NJ Transit told them. They are allowed to pull drivers from other routes to cover the above mentioned routes.
  20. I regularly take the Middlesex County lines run by Suburban Transit, one of CoachUSA's garages. They tend to not do certain runs if they do not have the drivers. For example, if they do not have the drivers to do all the 814 runs, they just do not run it. This is a problem because the buses on this line only run every hour. It is also not uncommon to not have certain lines run at all. Also not to mention, their transit buses are not in great shape. They feel very beat up and they do break down often. I hope what I said makes sense. Let me know if I need to clarify anything.
