  1. I can concede the Bx5 idea because the theory was based on that shoppers would want Bay Plaza over White Plains Road.

     

    As for the Bx1, while the idea of sharing units is good, they can easily move from 138th - 3rd to 135th - St. Nicholas if they need a Bx1 to run as a Bx2 as well in the North Bronx. As for length, all you would be adding is .9 of a mile to a route. But to compromise, what if only half of the runs would go to 135th - St. Nicholas where as the remainder would still go to the current terminal?

     

     

    For Bx5 riders and Bay Plaza, just add a three legged transfer between the Bx5 and either the Bx29, Bx12, or Bx12 SBS.

In an unrelated note I don't think any of the non-overnight services will ever be allowed to run its course (since most everybody in their reroute plans have most of not all the ©(cool.png(M) finishing their regular service), because the last few trains are layups on either end anyway (very true with both the ©(cool.png and most of the (M)'s as well). Its easy to just cancel these trains as long as their evenly done on the other end. Its called ABD for "balance" (T/D term).

     

    Even some overnight services are suspended (like the (3))

  3. A (D) train in revenue service in Queens. Yes, that would be a real sight. But then some other train would have to replace the (D) in Upper Manhattan and the Bronx.

     

    The © would run overnight to 205 St in the Bronx replacing the (D). The © and (CC) used to run to the Bronx even before the (D) was created.

     

    Since it is an 8th Avenue local, the © could just be extended to 205 St overnight instead of the (D) running on 8th Avenue.

     

    The © would run from 2 Av - 205 St in this case.

  4. It would get some ridership, but less than what you might think. Co-op will use it a lot as its a 30 min schlep to a subway station (except those who are lucky enough to live near the footbridge that goes to Baychester Av (5)). Parkchester not so much, it may go a long way towards eliminating the need for an express bus line here though. Parkchester will use the station too, but lets not make it like its subway station is going to be barren because of it. "Morris Park" might use it more, although the station would probably be bypassed non-rush hours like the other MNR stations in the Bronx.

     

    Reverse Commuters will use these stops, just like they use Fordham (and would relieve the crowding there) and Marble Hill.

  5. I'm just stating a simple fact... Aside from that those areas aren't densely populated either, so they don't need a subway. Areas like Throgs Neck, City Island, Country Club and Riverdale just do fine without a subway.

     

    Riverdale does have the (1) train, but that is only the eastern part. Then again Riverdale complains about (A) train access, that is why the Bx20 remains during rush hours.

  6. lol... Some folks in here say that the Bronx has good subway coverage so I'm a bit confused... Which is it?? :confused: Then I hear that the subways in the Bronx always screw up, so I guess my question is if this extension did happen, would it really make subway service in the Bronx any better??

     

    This would replace the 3rd Avenue Elevated which ran in the Bronx until 1973. That part of the Bronx has to deal with long bus rides. Either a crosstown bus, or ride the Bx55 all the way down to the (2)(5). Fordham Plaza has no direct subway service, a 6 block walk, the Bx12, or the Bx12 SBS is needed to get to the nearest subway stations on Fordham Road.

     

    The East Bronx also has long bus rides, the Throgs Neck PJs have a long ride during rush hours (up to 30 minutes, or even a bit more) from the Bx42 to Westchester Square during rush hours.

     

    Other parts of the Bronx (most of Soundview, Clason Point, most of Riverdale, Co Op City, etc) are bus dependent too.

  7. I wonder if there will be (5) trains ending at Bowling Green between 8 and 10pm, or all (5)s will continue to go to Flatbush After PM rush ends.

     

     

     

    Im sure the (5) will run local with the (4) and (6). No need to turn the (6) at 125th Street. Seen it before.

     

    The (5) will run normal until around 9:00, so there will be Bowling Green (5) trains. There will also be some Bowling Green trains leaving Dyre sometime after 4am, and at least one E 180 St shuttle train at 4:59, connecting to the E 180 - Flatbush train at 5:10 (train leaves at 5:13). This also leaves a 23 minute gap in (5) service below E 180 St.

     

    The (5) is running express, unless there is trackwork causing the (5) to run local, or the (5) replaces the (6), the (5) will run express all night. Useless to have the (4), (5) and (6) all local with no track work

  8. Well it makes sense.

     

    Well the IRT is for all intents and purposes normal. The (4) and (6) have no change. Instead of confuse all people all night by having a "red" train go down the east side the whole night, just swap terminals for the night and send the (5) all the way down. In the past when the (5) has run all night (back in the days of trains going around the SI ferry loop), it has been express all night, with the (4) and (6) local. In all likelihood it is like that again, to compensate for the increased time it takes to get to the east side to get a train to Flatbush.

     

    I just hope/wish that shuttle bus has some service to 149-GC, but I doubt it.

     

    No sense in running all three trains local anyway.

     

    Wonder how many people wait for the (5) express downstairs at 59 St and 86 St during those GOs instead of the (4) and (6) local upstairs (or wait for the express instead of the local overnight at any station)? Though those that really need the (5) should catch it first chance anyway.

     

    At least the (4) and (6) will be less crowded in Manhattan and the (2) will be less crowded in the Bronx overnight due to the (5) running.

  9. OK, then, answer me this. Two part question, and this is the first part, the answer of which will affect the second.

     

    All local trains stop at Parkchester while the express trains continue to Pelham Bay Park. Is this true for every single case when express service is running, excluding general orders and other unexpected stuff?

     

    Not exactly, at the end of the PM rush and early evening some locals run to Pelham Bay Park
