  1. I think anyone that would subject themselves to such a route should bring a pillow ! having anything run on bowery & across the manhattan bridge to flatbush/4th is torturous enough during rush hour..... then you wanna run it on 4th all the way to 86th st.... and then across the heart of commercial 86th st.... wow.... Seriously, that won't be much of an express route..... It almost looks like you chose the slowest routing possible on purpose....
  2. (they looked like) they ranged in ages between 14-16 yrs old..... 2 of the boys were black, one of the boys were hispanic..... the girl with them was also hispanic... the main one actin a fool was lanky (kinda reminded me of wiz khalifa)... the other black kid looked like your average teenager....
  3. guess I can put this in this section... I wanna know who on here was with 3 acquaintances/friends on a NB 2 train around 5:30pm @ 42nd st yesterday going apeshit over a B46 SBS..... 2 other dudes & this 1 chick.... whoever that was, needed to calm the hell down... no need to show out like that in public.... I kept looking at the person like, wtf is he talkin about a B46 SBS (I thought dude maybe meant the 44 SBS, but he kept saying 46).... I eventually arrive home, and was like 2 seconds away from asking about a B46 SBS in the shoutbox.... but then I checked the bus section & saw ENY's thread..... Then I go, so THAT's what that kid on the train was talkin about.....
  4. hey, when you're tired enough, you aint thinkin about the road conditions along w/e route you're (traveling) on..... lol.... I know exactly what bump you're talking about.... there's a series of grossly uneven patches along hylan around bay terrace, but that one in particular... smh.... and the (local) b/o's don't slow down upon approaching it either..... you even feel it while on the (MTA's) expresses.... the x24 though, not so much... A dirty bus is a dirty fu**in bus; that I have zero problem bringing up.... Not one of these ppl. that wanna pretend like our buses (and trains) aren't "that" dirty..... they are only lyin to themselves..... I'm far from a germaphobe, but nasty is nasty no matter how you slice it..... The flags, yep... thing is though, where else can they be put....
  5. Yup, shoal do ! I'm simply too tall to sit in the front.... guaranteed someone's gonna end up bumping into my leg after paying their fare & what not, so I make my way to the back.... I don't tend to sit in the middle seats (paired or singular) b/c I can't fit into them comfortably... Bad enough just about everytime I get up, you hear crackling bones... lol.... Only time I'll sit in those suckers is if the bus is jammed, and I get lucky enough to catch a seat upon someone having occupied that seat about to get off..... the back most seating is where I can comfortably sit down, & doze off if I'm tired enough.... only thing that kinda sucks is that you have the USA flag on either side that impedes your view as you're lookin out the window..... yep, the little things you'll hardly hear anyone talk about (but, do), I have no problem posting about it
  6. After checkin out those PDF's.... - unfortunately, an n24 extension & the n78/79 cutback to LIRR hicksville I (and a few others) saw coming.... this move may have to do w/ how unreliable 22's were, towards queens... but I still don't think the n78/79 should've been used as scapegoats b/c of that.... at least one of those routes should've remained heading to mineola.... n24 ltd anyone ? - n16 truncation is what some of us (myself included) suggested should happen anyway... - so they actually decided to keep the n2 & 8 & turn it into a loop... *shrugs* guess that could work... - not for nothin, but sending 43's to HTC I can agree with.... - that whole n23/27 thing... I get that they're addressing redundancy issues (or what the MTA would deem as being "duplicative"), but cutting off peak 27's to LIRR roslyn & extending some 23's to RFM, etc... and having the peak 23's still serve LIRR Mineola..... that's just complicating things....
  7. I was out in the rockaways the saturday before last... after taking the Q35, I was gonna take the 53, but I had just missed a nexgen hybrid & a remaining ex-BL was @ the terminal... so I stopped at the chinese food store on B 116th (plus I was hungry at the time anyway)... after I got my order, I just went ahead & took the Q22 that was a handful of blocks away..... Long story short, it's gotten to the point where I avoid taking the ex BL's if I don't have first dibs on the back seating....
  8. that makes sense.... come to think of it, the closest mcdonalds I know of in the rockaways is that one by the x-bay bridge.... there's another one out in far rockaway on mott (that I had the displeasure of going into) near the ... at the time I was out there, it was either (eating from) that mickey d's or from white castle....
  9. Yeh, I get that you're rounding off.... Regardless, the 'why bother for $1' notion wasn't what I was concerned with.... Most of the mcdonald's I used to go to, weren't the family friendly type ones... Last one I been in, was that one off 5th av/9th st in park slope.... I can honestly say, none of the ones here in east flatbush are..... In plain english, that mcdonald's by Av. R, you wont see much (if any) of the nzzzz BS that goes on in most other establishments.... While I don't know how attitudinal those cashiers there are, I will say that if you go up in most mickey D's asking about a family discount, expect: - a look of stupeficiation towards you, and a bunch of babble basically sayin we don't hahh (have) that... - the manager to be called, with the eye-rollin before or after the fact....
  10. Yeh, I've noticed a couple mcdonalds that offer family discounts.... to tell the truth, I never bothered wanting to know the extent of the discount/price savings because I don't see 'em posted anywhere.... well that, and I don't eat w/ a group of people like that whenever I go to any fast food joint really..... My question to you is, how do you know you save a buck on certain items w/ the family special? I've never seen on any window (or posted on/around the actual menu) that certain items are 'x' amount less.... also curious to know which mcdonalds you're referring to..... not that one on flatbush & av R is it?
  11. which accomplished what..... Yeah, depending on how much you spend, they'll ask if you want one for free... I always decline b/c I don't eat the things... I've been to a few where they'd just throw one in there regardless.... The apple pie is still on the dollar menu.
  12. Screw target practice.... just don't sit there & insinuate I haven't read the posts then. Anyway, I never never tried BK's nuggets, and I haven't ate from wendy's in almost 20 years (and don't plan on doin so no time soon)..... But Yeah, 2.99 for the 20 pc. was a great deal; wish they had that deal earlier on in the year (2011) when I was eatin them things like they were goin outta style.... I'm not sure where GC thought the 20 pc. were about a $1 cheaper w/ the sale.... Most the time I would go to mcdonalds, I'd get the things.... Never remember them being closer to 3.99 (~ 4 bucks).... they were closer to (and often over) $5.... The 10 pc. used to be around 3 bucks (that's why I would never get em.... better off gettin the 20 pc, mathematically speaking).... Some cashiers will even make buyers cogniscent of that (you save money w/ gettin the 20 pc).....
  13. Yeah, well nobody made that claim of 20 nuggets being a buck to begin with.... Anyway, they were 2.99.... now they're back to 4.99
  14. Now who's getting defensive...... As for what do I call a 20pc for $1... Not even remotely close to being true. That's not even an educated guess, especially from someone's that's ever been to the place....
  15. - Nobody's talking about promotions or special deals.... - Nobody's saying everybody goes, or has to go to mcdonalds to have an idea that the damned things aren't that cheap.... lol @ bringing up obvious shit to absolve your original conjecture... Now it's you don't have to prove anything..... yeah okay.
  16. So someone else notices this tactic too...... Cut the naive act already... seriously. There's a difference between knowing the price of the damned things down to the nearest couple of cents, and sittin there in awe believing they're that cheap.... Either you've never been inside (and heard of) a mcdonalds in your lifetime at all, or you have.... prices are not gonna drop that low @ any mcdonalds in 8 years time...... You can't be that stupid to believe you can get 20 mcnuggets for a dollar.... Enough with these "you think I'm supposed to......" statements... nobody else's buying em..... they're nothin more than a convenient copout.... ....especially from someone that states that they're educated.
  17. lol on both fronts..... hah.... since I pretty much order the same thing when I hit up fast food restaurants, I never bothered to (wanted to) order a mcdouble.... I mean, although I've heard of the thing, I thought it'd be more than a simple bastardization of a double cheeseburger..... incredible....
  18. god, I think I was a size 28 waist in like 8th grade.... lol.... Anyway, I don't mind sitting in one area for a prolonged period.... that way I'm "hyper"-focused on what I have to accomplish.... too much walking around (in one general area) & standing for too long can be draining (and disinteresting) for me... standing for too long gets me lightheaded anyway.... Two contrasting examples of doing what works best for a certain individual. - My usual order @ mickey d's: 20 pc nuggets, 2 cheeseburgers (or 1 big mac; interchangable), large fries.... a bottle sprite or water, I get at a nearby newsstand, since most mickey d's don't have it to where you can fill up your own soda..... - usual order @ burger king: 3-4 whopper jr's w/ cheese, 1 chicken sandwich (orig, not that spicy shit), large onion rings, & a large sprite I don't bother asking for no tomatoes.... 1/2 the time they still put em in there anyway.... I have not ate a filet o' fish since I was like 1 or 2 yrs old.... my moms used to eat that stuff like it was the last thing on earth..... man, that's all a mcdouble is?? Lmao ! 1) That's exactly what I was getting at.... blimpie's never changed their menu, and subway changed their menu to cater to the health conscious... cha-ching! Win win for them.... As for Quizno's, I don't care for em... most their menu consists of sandwiches that are pre-made, and to me they have a rather bland taste to it.... 2) lol... I wouldn't know if adults are sittin there orderin happy meals for themselves.... if it aint some egregious amount of food, I don't pay attention to what other people order.... I'm of the "get my food & gtfo" mindset.... The only thing I look at after I pay for my order, is the kitchen area.... watch them make the food (and ponder at the tight little donks on some of these shorties !)
  19. Good to know, about the pizza thing. As far as subway..... when they revamped their menu to be more healthy, that's when they got popular/notoriety... that's when you saw the mad-dashed rampant propping up of establishments all over the place.... Subway wasn't always like that; it rivaled with blimpie's, and at the time, blimpie's was the place to go (as far as chain, sandwich shops are concerned).... nobody thought twice about subway... I hate to put it like this, but at the height of the (sudden) 21st century health kick that started here in america, that is when subway switched up to being more healthy & what not.... nobody really thinks about that.... Whoever's in their marketing/advertising dept. are pure geniuses.... they benefitted off perfect timing.... Me myself, I still favor blimpie - problem is I can't find ONE here in NYC anymore.... btw, I can tell you for sure that it's not just, or moreso the manhattan subways where the "sandwich artists" OD on the lettuce, and where you have to pay extra for meats & cheese..... no matter what sandwich you order (I used to get the pastrami myself), they are ready w/ that goddamn lettuce... they probably teach them that at the subway school of sandwich making (or w/e name they actually call it).... lmao @ the chrome plated "degrees" they got up on the walls in the establisments.....
  20. Portion control is directly proportional to how important keeping is a particular weight (range) is to any one person.... at least, IMO..... Anyway, I don't "try" to keep a particular shape or build.... All I'll say is that I'm not some chiseled, john basedow chiseled lookin dude, nor am I that fat slob w/ the double beer belly (with the matching chin).... Glad I have a high metabolism, and don't mind walking long distances at all.... I used to hit up gyms & what not, but eventually I found it to be nothin more than a waste of time & money.... and find myself having less headaches now that I don't have to be subjected to the BO's of dozens of different mf-ers..... As far as being health conscious.... to tell the truth, I think some ppl. are OD-ing with the whole being healthy bit.... Was just talkin to my lil bro about, back then, you aint had no broccoli or a slice of tomato on no pizza... now you go into a pizza store, and you have to stand there & say "regular" slice..... When you went to a pizza store when we were kids, you went in that sucker, said "lemme get ___ slices".... they knew you meant a plain slice, and that was the end of it..... The whole extra value meal, and supersize this & that I never bought into.... To me, I always viewed it was a way of these fast food joints suckering you out of money.... you really didn't get THAT much for the increase in price, compared to the "regular" portions..... I stopped eating from subways, for the simple fact that they shortchange you on meats, sit there & count the slices of cheese, and my personal favorite.... the getting of BOTH hands ready to drown your sandwich in lettuce.
  21. I'm not even being facetious or sarcastic with this... but I love how almost every thread about food on this forum has some mention of eating healthy.... that's good, b/c on this other forum I frequent sometimes, all the food threads tend to turn into a pissing contest somewhere down the line (for example, you'll have one guy talkin bout he can eat 20 mcnuggets, 2 big mac's & large fries.... and in a couple posts later, someone'll state how much more they can eat than that)... smfh... but in any event...... - lol @ happy meal..... - mickey d's salad contains more sugar than the dam mcdonaldland cookies.... no thanks. I aint a salad eater anyway (get ya minds out the gutter).... - never had their southern chicken or w/e.... - tried that mcrib once... never again... - don't really care for a quarter pounder; it tastes like nothin more than an oversized cheeseburger.... besides, if I wanna sit there & pick out onions, I'll get myself a whopper jr from BK... Only thing I eat from mcdonalds when I do go there (outside of fries) is the big mac & the mcnuggets.... Lately, I've been on a burger king kick anyway... breakfast & lunch.....
  22. The Borough Hall stop on the cadman plz. bound side... lol... here's what it is bro.... of B103 riders seeking the subway that disembark @ Boro Hall: - the ppl. you see gettin off on the joralemon st side (opposite the municipal bldg), are those seeking IRT service.... - the ppl. you see gettin off on the cadman plz w. bound side, are seeking the ..... .....and as for whatever workers/students there are on the B103, would have already gotten off at the joralemon st stop... (this, along w/ the above, is why you see w/e leftover pax on the 103, after having served livingston st, get off on joralemon st moreso than the cadman plz w. stop)..... Considering those points, this is why you seldom see anyone gettin off at tillary st itself.... It's not so much about being mandatory.... b/c I took the 103 to the last stop, to catch the 38 (which also terminates on tillary, and was right there, so I got lucky that day) Although I don't think Q23 was suggesting that there'd be a local B103 counterpart..... I... actually... agree with this.
  23. ^^ um, I never doubted him... your downtown description is pretty much what the 103 does anyway.... virtually no one takes the 103 w/i downtown brooklyn, heading towards tillary....
  24. good question.... I honestly don't remember the B103 having a closed door policy.....
