no one said they were gonna do the A/C swap, we all know they aren't gonig to the swap, we all know the R32's that are going to ENY aren't going on the , its just a discussion, we know the truth, its just some people like to speculate, and there's no need to close a thread like this, because any unknown swap can happen, as for the R32s going to the J to help out with the gap due to the base order R160A-1 order SMS-CBTC upgrade, people on here will speculate until they start to send a few sets of 32s downthere

yup they were working fine, but between tomorrow and Monday is the real test to see if the a/c's can handle the heatwave we're getting

yeah true, I'm just wondering when ENY is supposed to get these R32s, I saw one pair of the 4 R32s in ENY yard with 2 doors open last night

the R32s don't have metropolitan as a south terminal but very few cars like 4 cars have R38 southern rollsigns that have metropolitan, but as snowblock mentioned OPTO, if an R32 gets stuck at metro after normal service ends then that's a problem, it make perfect sense to leave em on the J/Z

they don't need to run em on the plus it doesn't have the orange sign and there's no need to run em on the the (J)'s R160s can be pushed to the to full to void of displaced R160s that are getting SMS

I would say 32-36 cars would be sent to ENY that's 4 8 car trainsets with 4 cars as spares that leaves 207th with 190-186 cars for the C, the C uses 144 cars for service

yea the M doesn't need em they'll just push the J's R160s to the M and the 2-3 sets of R32s would cover for the J, I suspect that only 2-3 sets of R32s will be transfered since about 1-2 sets of R160s are going for SMS, ENY might borrow these R32s for awhile even pass the summer time

yea and I've been saying the R32s are gonna go to the east for how long now and you guys thought I was bullshitting, and @ snowblock it is an SMS - CBTC upgrade they've already started and some of the SMS'ed cars are back in service.

No Word on anything about the swap, but there are rumors that it will happen even if the rockaway flats aren't ready to open yet, BUT this year will be very different from last year for the most obvious reasons 1. The Rockaway Flats are not going to be open, now its rumored to open by the end of the year 2.ENY's R160A-1's (Base Order) R160's 8313-8652 are getting an SMS and ENY is going to need all of thier equipment 3. There will be more extra trainsets of trains sitting around than last year due to the not going to the Rockaways If This swap does happen Obviously the will have 144 or less R32's along with the R46's while the has 144 R46's, since 2011 the has also borrowed R42's from ENY, this won't be the case this year, and also pitkin doesn't have to borrow R46's from Jamaica here are the rumored suggestions: 1. (normal) 144 R32's to the (A)/(H) lines (yes the has to be full length with a C/R for the summer time) It would make sense for the R32's to go back out there for the summer SINCE its full length and 100% outdoors while 144 R46's go to the 2. (Being Talked about) have 48 R32's go to ENY for an exchange for 48 R42's for the with 126 R32's for the (A)/(H) or just the along with R46's but don't expect to see R42's on the unless they go with plan 2, due to the fact ENY needs all of their equipment due to their base order R160's to go to CI for SMS. this summer will be different from last summer

one day along the line ENY is gonna need 2-3 R32's, those R42's need work, and this summer the R42's are going to be running wild on the (J)/(Z) due to the R160A-1 SMS, and yea 207th st can't maintain the R160's, but 207th should be upgraded so they would be ready for the R179 order, the only thing i hate about the summer swaps is that they take R46's from jamaica to keep up with their service

Some Good News for you R42 Fans, the TA decided not to go with the plan on retiring the R42's this year, also the summer swaps will going on every summer until the R179's arrive, also the (Base order R160A-1's) will undergo SMS (8313-8652) so this might be intresting and THEY will not use the R143's for the (J)/(M) so ENY might need all of thier R42's for the summer and its still possible that the R32's MIGHT still go to ENY as spares just incase an R42 crap out

yeah but some of those WF cars have been brought back to service and they are at 207th st yard

those 10 R32's replaced about 16 Redbird Work Motors from 38th st yard, thats why they are work motors now, but any given chance they CAN return to service if needed

once the R32 SMS is done, 207th isnt going to need all 222 R32s anymore, they only need a maximum of 180-190 cars since the C requires 144 R32s,and if on the A the same amount for the summer, leaving 30-40 R32s free, if the TA wants to, those 48 oddball R42s can retire at anytime, its all about cutting costs and having one 60 foot SMEE car class instead of 2, the R42s arent being maintained as much, if they were to stay they would need work,simple as that, all of the R32s should be done with SMS by march

Oh Who gives a shit, they still sound the same, they Needed to get SMS'ed, if you want sound ride 3611, that would shut you guys up, at the end of the day its all about getting them to run, and so far the R32's are doing better, as for the R42's thats a different story, i heard they been taking parts from the dead R42's and been using their parts for the R62A SMS since the R42's are westinghouse, The Phase I R32's are GE's

Alot of things are gonna change regarding the 2 car classes very soon, plus on a side note I don't think the R32's will be on the this summer since the rockaways will not open until mid summer and it would be pointless to do a swap with only the (A)'s going to howard beach and Lefferts (last summer most of them went to lefferts waste of time) but we will see what happens

that i agree on, to me CS has the best OG orion VIIs while ENY is in 2nd, ENY is not a bad depot at all
