  1. The L will remain to be R143s and R160s. They are the only cars capable of running on the L, and there is no good reason to move them from the L. R179s will not be CBTC equipped upon delivery.

Excuse me do you work down here? I talk to supervisors and superintendents who tell me what discussions have been going on about the equipment.

the R42 is still on the (A) saw it at 111th st middle track an hour ago, i have picture proof

I seen it Tuesday, North motor was 4210

Also got the word this weekend the 32's will be back on the (C)

  2. IDK if Dan05979 was being serious, sarcastic, or an idiot, but what he said would be the absolute worst thing to happen for the (N). Sea Beach and Astoria riders would be super mad to see their awesome, beloved R160s replaced with junky old R46s (they look ugly there anyway), though I am sure a couple of people I know who wished the (N) and (Q) looked like a certain fatso at my school would love this. The (N) was the first train to get the R160s for a reason: it ranked worst in the State of the Subways Report Card for three straight years. The (W) also got them for this reason, leaving whiney Brighton riders with only 25% R160s until it was discontinued. The "big event" of the weekend is the bus festival in Downtown Brooklyn, which I am sure will be chaotic with all you railfans fighting over stupid things.

Back to this topic of the (A)(C), I hope the swap is permanent because R46s look better on the (C) and R32s look better on the (A). The R46s are also fatter, slower, and have more problems than the R32s, so they should run on the part-time local.

Watch who the fvck your calling an idiot homey.

  3. The promotional list for Train Operator has been exhausted. We are hiring 40 T/Os on 10/22; 40 T/Os on 11/12 and 40 T/Os on 12/3. they have to be coming from somewhere. Therefore, the open-competitive list has not been terminated. The people at the top of the list should be getting called for medicals any day now. Along with this , we are also hiring 10 C/Rs on 9/24; 20 C/Rs on 10/8; 20 C/Rs on 11/12; 20 C/Rs on 12/3; 12 ATDs on 10/1 and 10 TSSs on 10/1. Divisions will be announced for all hourly positions on the Tuesday AFTER hiring. This will be the only time I will put this out, so if you need to know, copy this post to somewhere you can find it. You may now all go back to your rumor-mongering.

RIGHT out of the Schoolcar Horses Mouth!

    Hmmm....Who wrote that!

  4. I have a family friend that is a train operator and he told me today, they have already called off the OC list. He let me know around 16 people that he knows went back to being conductors and they are notifying TO's over the radio that they have, he used some abbreviation but I think he means overtime, available everyday. He said they need TO's. When I called a 347 number today, the lady that answered told me they haven't called off the list yet and she didn't know if the recording was correct or not. My friend was very sure they have called a class from the OC list already. He will let me know more when he goes back to work after his 2 days off.

NO ONE FROM THE OPEN LIST HAS BEEN CALLED YET

  5. Speaking of which, what was the reason for the swaps anyway? As I understand it, the (C) being fully underground, the compressors on the R32s overheated and the A/C shut down.

But, technically, the cars do go outside, when they go to 207th Street yard. Is that not enough time for the compressors? The (A) spends a significantly large portion indoors anyway...

Lights and air comfort are supposed to be shut down when layed up at a yard. But most of the (C) trains get layed up at the underground yard after 168 and at Euclid.

  6. I can imagine...standing all the way from 207-Far Rock = no fun

Maybe they need to bring back the R-10's and have you guys work from in between the cars :P

Hey I really can't complain because back in the olden days befor transverse cabs it was all standing, heat and aggrivation for the crew.
