  1. I know Dan but your making money with all those long hours even with the government taking a lot out. I know I been single for the longest until last year. You just make the job sound so bad but you can't wait to be a T/O.

I'm just telling it how its is down here & what to expect, so these guys who want to work here understand the grass isn't greener on the other side all the time.

Yes I want to move up to the front because C/R is not my thing. C/R was to get my foot in the door.

  2. Ok Dan don't hold back let us know how you really feel about the Job? I know your not complaining on pay day? However getting real you get paid to sit on the board and everything over 8 hours is overtime pay. It's not easy being extra you will have no life it's true but that's not for ever.

Pay day I get the life sucked out of me with taxes but thats my business. My post had nothing to do about pay. My post had everything to do with what your going to experience being new...

  3. The only thing I can strees is being new your XX and it is very stressful on your life. You HAVE NO LIFE, your a pawn in the game, your a fill-in a pee on, a piece of garbage, TRUST ME!!! Your suppose to get 12 hours between jobs but they could give a shit if it takes you 12 hours to get home. I'm almost at the point of quitting. But I was able to pick jobs that start soon. But when the next pick comes around I might get pushed back to being XX because alot of C/R's who went for T/O came back to their former title. And with Train operator, you'll be picking maybe in 2 to 3 years. I was lucky and got to pick only after 1 year on the job. So keep this in mind.

  4. Idk who this Dan guy is but it was pretty humorous that he said it was all true. I also remember you saying how much top pay is for a T/O. I still havnt found info on that yet btw

I wrote its "TRUE" because thats the most silliest thing I ever read.

  5. so...someone with specific knowledge on this matter, please help me here: i need to understand:

what is this "extra" or "extra extra" business? i heard ppl saying they were fighting/praying to pick up jobs...what does that mean?

once you pass the class u get sent somewhere and then there's nothing for you to do? just sit around playing with your fingers? at least do you get paid for that? and if a whole day or days or week goes by and you were not given a job then what?? no paycheck? what's the point of hiring all these ppl if there are no jobs for them to do? I have also read somewhere that in the first 1-3 yrs you will be at work for a total of like 12-16 hours /day as they kindda "split" your day up...so you do a run then you have a 2-3 hours "break" ( which does not count as working hours and so you do not get paid for it) and then maybe you pick another run and then you have another " break" and so on until u make the total of 8 "working hours" - which means u actually work all day to get paid for 8 hours....i find this to be ludicrous ...IS IT TRUE???????

Also...is it true you start this job with no vacation days or sick days? an you have to work overtime and take that in time ( not $$$) to build some vacation days? IS THIS TRUE???? and if yes, how is this even legal??? nyc/nys labor laws do not apply to MTA???

Guys, I get it...a job is a job these days....I am just trying to get some accurate info...i heard/read too many different things....

    Tks. so much ......

when do you think they will get to #1,500??

    All this is TRUE

  6. There's no rats in the tunnel, there rats at the stations. The tunnel walk is to teach you how to walk in the dark tunnel with road bed debri such as dead rails, switches, garbage ect..also finding where you can stand as trains go by you. Then you learn how to use the emergency exits. Thats the purpose of the tunnel walk. Eveything they do with you in school car is for a reason.

  7. In the begining of Oct I orderd 2 short sleeves and 1 long sleeves because my others were beyond cleaning and repair. After 1 month of waiting I called these idiots to see why my order is taking forever. They told me my CC# was no good, after they checked the apologized and sent the order out. These people are terrible at customer service for one of their biggest clients.

  8. WOW!! Y'all throwing names out there and all! Lol

Anyhow, mediccjh, thanks for starting this thread. I'm enjoying the schoolcar experience as well. A lot of cool people in our class, all of whom in my eyes are focused on passing this course and become successful T/O's. Its going to be a lot of work, but I'm looking forward to it!!

Yup, this shit is real. Your jobs are at stake here, might as well know whats up. PM me if you need photo's also.

  9. Considering you are the one who initially hijacked the thread, your opinion is being ignored.

Do yourself a big favor...Never take any advice, information ect from him. Already his reputation around the rto system is extremly poor. And this goes for any future A division or current A division Train operators. Watch your back with him, HE WILL THROW YOU UNDER THE TRAIN. His name is Evan Langman.

thats my schoolcar lesson from me to you.

  10. anyone know when this list expires?? also will list # 350 get called soon? I'm already a Conductor, if i do get call, will i get laid off if i failed schoolcar?

As far as I know and what was told to me, you take a leave of absense from conductor title, everything else carries over. If you fail then you can go back to your former title. There's a few people on here who already went thru this so maybe they can correct me and give you solid info. I'm just going by what was told to me from the people at 180 Liv.

  11. Does anyone have the fleet numbers of the R46s which were destroyed? I'm looking through my NYC photos, to see if I photographed any of them before they were flooded,

I know that 5822-5825 and 5840-5843 were among the damaged cars.

They going to fix those cars. MTA is not going to let 16 good cars go to waste. All they need to do is take out components, clean them up, put new wiring and resistors, oil it up and send them on thier way. You just don't get rid of expensive, money making equipment like that. If my engine flooded with water I get a new engine or rebiuld that engine.
