  1. Apparently I have some sort of extra heartbeat in my EKG and they want a letter from my doctor saying I won't lose consciousness while operating RTO equipment! I've already notified my doctor and now I wait for her to get back to me; I hope she gets back to me before this week is out!

What a bunch of Fvcking a$$holes.

  2. Dan, what did your note say? If you don't want to display, PM me please.

I don't remember exactly but he stated after some tese the patient does not show any signs of sleep apnea. I gave it to them and case closed.

BTW they do recheck your damn blood pressure so don't think your out of the woods yet.

  3. MEDICAL HOLD.

Needless to say, I didn't feel like discussing it. Talk about having the brake handle dangling in front of you, just out of reach, and as you reach for it, it gets pulled away.

Showed up nice and early; I was the 4th guy in line on the left when we lined up upstairs. My physical was fine, EKG fine, B/P, fine, hearing was fine.

I had a tonsilectomy in 2008 due to sleep apnea, which has since resolved. The doctor wouldn't clear me without paperwork stating that I no longer have obstructive sleep apnea. I don't understand why; it's not narcilepsy, and I won't be operating a train while sleeping.

The staff nurse and doctor were very nice. They used to work in ERs, so we got to talk about the job and everything.

The kick in the balls: when I went to the HR counter and gave them my hold paper, the lady stated, and I quote:

"You need to get this quickly resolved. We're short and we need you."

I have my follow-up sleep study tomorrow night. The only time I snore is if the room is dry; I have a humidifier, and my wife says I don't snore when it's on. I was on my back last night, and she said I didn't snore, which is a good thing.

It was a very rough weekend, and needless to say I was anti-social. Now that I've gone through the 5 stages of Grief (mostly Anger), I'll do my test, bring the results down, and see where it goes from there. Hopefully the November class for me.

They gave me the same bullshit, they love using sleep apnea as an excuse for medical hold. they said they heard me breathing hard and falling asleep. After waiting almost 6 hours there yes I was falling asleep. I was breathing threw my mouth because my nose was stuffy. Made an app with my doctor the very next day, he gave me a note, and the next day went back to 180 and got sworn in.

  4. You know, only once has someone in real life "recognized" me from these forums. Just once. 99% of TA workers don't read these forums or know of their existence. I have a reputation on the job, but not because of these forums.

Your Name & pic are floating around in a few places, and definitely not for anything positive.

  5. You will be ridin by a supervisor from time to time. They will meet you at different stations and come into your cab, some will just sit on the train and evaluate your operation withought you even knowing there on the train. As far as signals go, don't worry about it everyday you go over signals and have mini quizes on them.

  6. School car is not as hard as it sounds. On my first week of school car, they told us 30% of us would not make it. The result? 100% of us passed. With T/O,s however, it's a bit harder because you must pass the signal tests with a perfect 100%. When you start school car, you better be studying signals every single day.

PLEASE DON'T LISTEN TO THIS GUY. THANK YOU. HE HAS 3 MONTHS ON THE JOB. HE KNOWS NO BETTER EVEN THOUGH HE THINKS HE KNOWS EVERYTHING. THANKS AGAIN.

  7. Why would the riders care?

They are not like us transit buffs; they don't give a crap as to whether a car is 60 or 75 feet. My mom doesn't know how to tell the difference between an R32 and an R46, and that attitude generally represents most casual riders.

    +1

Thats why they keep asking me at 59st is my R-46 (A) a (A) or a (D) they don't know

  8. In certain parts of the world, C/R's are known as guards... Oh and I bet you're pretty happy to have the R46 back on the (A) eh? ;) I don't blame you...

    OK, Guards.

I'm happy because I don't have to be standing for 8 hours anymore. And when I do the (C) theres a seat for me so its a win-win situation.

  9. I can understand that, but having to stand while the train is in the tunnels must not be fun.

No wonder so many guards complain about them being on the (A).

What about having to stand from 207 to Far Rock and then either taking the same 32 back to 207 or your next train is another 32. Its not fun. But thats how they did it before there were transverse cabs. It is what it is.

    What guards?
