Not to hijack this thread but how is the parking, in general, around the all locations where training is held? Just wondering because after making it past processing, I want to know if I have to take the subway or drive.

Parking is ok at most locations in the A division, not sure about the B. One thing to keep in mind tho is that if you're late due to traffic, an accident or anything to do with your car, that will be all on you and there is no tolerance for that. Now if you're late because of train trouble, bring them the number of the train car you're in and if it checks out that the train was really delayed, you will.be excused

Do you guys know how to quote someone elses post?

  2. I had the same thing happen to me on the L the other day, TSS never seen me before, acting all cocky when he handed me the clipboard thinking the proby that was highlighted was me, asked me if I was new, and if I ever worked the line before, as soon as I finished telling him this was my picked job all of a sudden he was all smiles and "how are you today?" Yeah ok......

  3. So is everyone in your school car classes still there? Anyone quit or fail the signal exam?

Quit the signal exam? How do you quit a signal exam? Get up in the middle of the exam and walk away? In any case we have 2 excellent instructors at the helm in our class who have been instilling all of their knowledge into us. We go over signals constantly but beyond that it behooves everyone to continue reading all of the handouts while you're at home. If you read and go over your signals and their respective definitions on a daily basis and you look for and react to those signals accordingly while you're doing road operations then that means that you have a clear understanding of the signals and you will be alright when the test comes around.

Do yourself a favor and do not read ANYTHING this person has to say on here. He's a newly hired conductor that has already thrown other people under the train. He was already banned on this forum for being a massive troll and has returned under a new name. Ignore him, he knows NOTHING. Carry on..

  4. It's called paying your dues Dan. What, you thought you were going to have it easy from day 1? There have been plenty of people who have been XX for far longer than you have, like those who got hired right before the hiring freeze several years ago. Some didn't pick a job until they hit top pay. And as a T/O, you will be XX longer than you were as a C/R.

And what's the big thing about picking a job anyway? When your fiirst pick, your going to get the garbage that nobody else wants. On top of that, you'll be getting a straight 8 and doing more work than people with 10 an 11 hour jobs.

Who asked you? Mind your own business fvck face. And I already told you never respond to ANY of my post I want nothing to do with you, keep fvcking with me and its gonna get ugly on beyond this forum a$$hole.

  5. They pay minimum wage during the first week ONLY. #1 it's because they need to get a million people to come down and talk to you and your pay goes towards paying for their taxis (if you think HR folk ride the train then you are dumb) and #2 because a good number of new hirees storm out once they find out that they have to work midnights or once they see the third rail jumper cable video and they still gotta get paid for their time, so the TA doesn't waste full pay on quitters.

If you get a perfect 100 on the final exam, you will receive back pay for the first week to get you up to the $30.

    This is ALL True

  6. Took an R68 on a joyride from Coney to Concourse. I operated from 125 St to 167. It was great. My Instructors were pleased with my operation.

I also got to live a childhood dream. I operated over the West End from 18 Av to Stillwell Terminal.

I feel like a little kid.

I think I heard you TSS calling Dekalb tower for a line up behind some ball ( I can't remember now) to go over the Brighton line, but since there was a GO in effect your TSS asked for a 4th ave or westend lineup. This was around 1:30 Pm. South Motor 25XX something.

  7. I went on Thursday for the Final Medical and Interview. Passed the medical with no problems. Met an attractive woman who was there for final medical and interview also, was surprised when she said she was there for train operator also! Then after all the medical stuff I met with the person for the interview and first thing asked was if I had any pending traffic violations on my license I had to close out. I have 2 so it was explained to me they cant hire me until I get the two tickets out of the way. Looks like I wont be in the Dec 17th class unless I can get the tickets finished off by then. Maybe its a good thing? I guess I could get first division pick when I get into the next class because of my list number having more senority right?

This must be new because I had pending traffic violations and they never asked me that when I was there for C/R. What does this have to do with you being train operator? this is a non driving job. Unless you gave them reason to look into it, or you put it down somewhere.

  8. 500s just got my letter. Reporting on the 13th, see you all then. Wish me luck and good luck to you all that got theirs and those still waiting.

Shit I should start getting ready then. This is moving faster than the conductor list. I guess alot of people are not making it all the way to final processing, found a better job, died waiting for a letter, got arrested, who knows....

  9. Well after reading this exchange I couldn't help but to laugh n shake my head @ some of the responses...lolol. But nonethless I'll welcome ya'll to NYCT. I wish ya'll the best of luck in the school car. I can't stress it enough n that is study them signals n listen to your instructors! All the other stuff will come in due time. I see that my fellow co-workers here have covered everything from money to how many hours you maybe working. You guys will be fine.

Ok senior Member with 1 post lol

  10. Good advice!! No kids which means Uncle Sam has his hand in all of my pockets including my purse! Hahaha!

I learned this the hard way. When I saw my check I seriously wanted to cry. Unless you save the day then you will be fine. Also with the RDO's remember thats a day off for you & your working, And your on probation so if something happens your going to regret working on your day off.

  11. Agree with you 100%. I plan to work as many RDO's as my body will allow the first few years. Not as if I'm a party animal right now. Rather make $$$ than sit on my behind at home. Haha!

I would strongly advise that you not work too many RDO's while your on probation. Take my advice. & working a holiday plus an RDO in one pay period is bad news if you have no dependents.
