  1. There is still no internal bulletin or notices about this on our intranet. I would think telling us RTO personnel would be the first priority, since we, you know, have to operate the damn thing. this is like… opening a new ride at Disney and not telling the Cast Members.
  2. They’ll see them when the 211S are ready to be shipped.
  3. Okay… I just got home from my training class. I will share this and only this for now: we’re looking at May/June-ish for the 211A to be in passenger service.
  4. I don’t think I’ve seen this version of the ad campaign for the JFK Express before. Kinda looks like a Red Bull commercial.
  5. That A: was kind of a constructive answer and B: I've always been a sarcastic ass, it is literally my signature!
  6. it's an injoke for the real old timers on this site. way back when Occupy Wall Street was the big news, some a**holes hacked the site and replaced all my posts with a line to some stupid video.
  7. 0700 WTC to parsons is the first Jamaica bound express that runs the full corridor. the first Jamaica bound train to run express at all is the 0553 WTC, but that only runs express from Queens Plaza to Forest Hills. I have been working on the corridor and heard the 0700 and its followers being routed onto the local and making local stops because the express track still has layups on it waiting to go.
  8. Except that doesn't always work, even now. the first E that currently runs express the length of the Queens Corridor from Manhattan is the 7:00 World Trade Center departure... it and the trains after it are often sent local after Forest Hills because the layups are behind schedule entering service.
  9. It’s almost as if they don’t care what the rail fans want and are more interested with what the average passenger wants… a working train.
  10. https://www.nemanufacturingalliance.com/coolest-thing-made-in-ne.html trust me on this… I haven’t been hacked… again…
  11. Also, should point out that at this point, what you saw probably was not a “test” run, but a training run with Schoolcar. we’re to the point where crews are actively getting trained on the train. Hell, I’m getting my training on her next week. Got a call from the crew office yesterday. and since this takes the place of me going to a normal road job that day, it has to happen during my tour.
  12. While the track chaining is backwards on the East, Parsons-Archer is officially North terminal for the J and Z. Metropolitan is always the M’s south terminal. the two run as a “Wrong Way Concurrency”. I would like to go on record I prefer to treat the M as a circle line and refer to its directions as “Clockwise” and “Counter-Clockwise”
  13. No. Because I heard it live over the radio as someone got caught doing that and got yelled at. The Q was operating on 6th Avenue as part of GO and someone rolled the lead sign to an orange Q. 34 Master was having none of it.
  14. Okay… when you’re boring though Manhattan Schist… it is really not economical to build a subway tunnel with a basement and an attic.
  15. …because the 7 was still running… why are we having to run extra service for a service that is still ready and raring to go?
  16. Basically the problem is, while dreaming and asking “what if” are perfectly fine… people tend to act like all these dreams and what if’s are practical and then get offended when we even so much as poke one hole in their logic. like me having to explain multiple times why they can’t just move the B to be based at Concourse yard. There are almost always details that are ether ignored or forgotten or just not understood. Another example, expanding the trains on the J, L and M. A certain someone always insists we just need to extend the platforms, ignoring that things like yard storage tracks and the barn at East New York Yard are the actual restrictions on how long those trains are.
  17. you want track department scampering around on an el in the dark? yeah, no, not happening,.. That is an easy ticket to a one way lession in the laws of gravity.
  18. I would be more inclined to belife one of two things. 1: they remove a B car from four different units and transfer it over to a different 4 car unit to make 5 car units, the remaining 3 cars become shuttle trains 2: they go the route of the R262 and order dedicated shuttle trains in the R68 replacement order.
  19. I would not have the 5 on that list since its trains can enter and exit service at multiple locations other than Dyre Ave. 238, Gun Hill, East 180th, New Lots, Utica…
  20. it's not too far off. The R143 and R160s are a fully custom design. The R179s are Bombardier "Movia" cars beaten with a sledgehammer until they made a close approximation of their older siblings.
  21. The public time tables can give you a pretty good hint (the first through trains in each direction leave within 10 minutes of each other) but there are about a dozen M trains that put in at Forest Hills, ether from being laid up in Jamaica Yard or on the QB express tracks.
  22. Provide service towards Metropolitan for passengers along the Myrtle Ave El who would otherwise have to wait for the first through train from Forest Hills to come around the long way.
