  1. VERY nice work, R44! The QM20 and M106 signs are very well-done! Well, as for me, signs will be put off for the next few days. I'm in the process of uploading all of my files onto a brand new iMac (with Snow Leopard OS and will upgrade to Lion when the kinks are resolved), but that means backing them up onto my Seagates and then programming my new iMac to make it up-to-date with all my technology (sound, printing, mouse work, router, Office 2011, etc.). But even after it's all done, I'll still be double-checking to see if I have EVERYTHING. Also, college will start soon, and it's possible that it'll be my final semester. I'll be taking some really tough courses (and one of them I might drop after a couple of weeks), so my sign-creation time may be limited until the winter. That said, great job, everyone, and keep up the good work!:tup:
  2. I've been noticing you posting signs in your signature every now and then. VERY nice work!

  3. I'm back with more PBL-like signs! These first two signs represent Green Bus Lines and their method of signage: Q11 — Elmhurst-bound: Q11 — Howard Beach-bound: - Now to Command's B103. B103 — Downtown Brooklyn-bound: (Note: While under Command, the B103 was considered an express like the Q53 under Triboro.) - Finally, the Q104 to Sunnyside (Queens Surface would adjust the size of their route number to accomodate the bus info):
  4. Nice work, Coneyisland7! :tup:tup: Now it's time to feature more signs. As I said, I was working on developing MegaMax flipdots similar to the ex-PBLs. Well, I now have five of them. Here they are! B100, Mill Basin-bound: B100, Midwood-bound: Q111, Jamaica-bound: Q101, Astoria-bound: Q6, Jamaica-bound: More to come! ^^
  5. Ah, didn't know that. Thanks for the info. ^^ EDIT: Scratch that, the side sign in that shot IS a Luminator Horizon. There are many forms of them. 1. The main displays (a.k.a., front signs) on the LIB 1700s, 3000s/2200s MCIs, and 6500s Orion VIIs are Horizons, but are sixteen columns high. 2. The side signs of the 1700s, 3000s/2200s, and 6500s are also Horizons, but are only eight columns high. 3. The side signs on the Orion VII originals (6700s to 6800s for NYCT, 3500s to 3700s for MTAB) and Orion VII NGs for MTAB/NYCT (3800s-4702) and LIB (1800-1839) are also Horizons. Here's some info about it to clear up the confusion: http://www.cptdb.ca/wiki/index.php?title=Luminator_Horizon The front signs on the Orion VII originals (6700s to 6800s for NYCT, 3500s to 3700s for MTAB) and Orion VII NGs for MTAB/NYCT (3800s-4702) and LIB (1800-1839) are Titans. They're higher in resolution (whereas Horizons are much lower), have many more columns (twenty-four, to be exact), and contain thicker and bigger letters/numbers.
  6. As a picture itself, it's fantastic. But the side-Horizon is just too blurry for me to decipher. (If anyone plans to get a shot of the side Horizon on the N22A, remember to take a shot of the side sign that says "JAMAICA — 165 ST TERMINAL." And 1800 series only.)
  7. Nice shot. Thanks. If anyone can capture the side frames of an 1800-series (the signs next to the door on the left) for some routes like the N22A (hopefully Jamaica-bound), N27, N23, N88, or whatever, it would be GREAT! ^^
  8. Hello again! First off, nice work, IRT! REALLY like the sign. I'm still making my signs. I've completed the template for the Q104, 46th Street-bound. These new signs are going to be in PBL form, so they're going to look a little bit different. Some differences are: 1. Characters only go to fifteen lines high, so some will be a bit thinner than they would at sixteen dots high. 2. NONE of the signs resort to thinner typography. If there's no room, then the ex-PBL (mostly Queens Surface Transit) resort to one of two things: a. Continue on to the next frame b. Make the route number smaller. Some will be only eleven characters high, and the Q104's number to Sunnyside only went nine pixels high. (The Q104 evidence was seen on TTMG, but the pics were taken down during the site's restoration progress, unfortunately. ) Also, I'm seriously considering creating a template for the bold, condensed fonts. For anyone confused, here's an example from Richard Aaron of TTMG (look at the bottom line in the frame): These condensed letterforms are typically found on the ex-Bee-Line Orions, some side Horizon LEDs on routes like the Q35, N27, and (possibly) N22A, and some private companies like Academy. (Academy also has ten pixel-high condensed fonts, but I only found a small amount. Any help with this is appreciated.) You notice that bold seven pixel-high fonts normally a little wider. Here's a list of how wide they normally are: 1. A, B, C, D, G, H, K, O, P, Q, R, S, T, U, X, Y, Z: six pixels wide 2. E, F, J, L: five pixels wide 3. I: four pixels wide 4. M, N, V, W: seven pixels wide The condensed versions of these characters: 1. N, Q, X, Y, Z: six pixels wide (Q, X, Y, Z are the same) 2. A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, J, K, L, P, R, S, U, V: five pixels wide (E, F, J, L are the same) 3. M, N, W: seven pixels wide (none change) 4. I, T: four characters wide The numbers are like this normally: a) 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 0: six characters wide. 1: four characters wide. c) 5: five characters wide. In their condensed version, the numbers are like this: a) 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 0: five characters wide. B) 1: four characters wide c: 7: unknown (possibly five) These templates will be developed, and I may plan on creating fantasy condensed versions for other sizes. ^^
  9. Horizons, MegaMaxes, MatrixMaxes, whatever. Anyone who wants to help out has my permission. Just keep the signs in top quality. ^^ Thus far, viaWPR, you can only make Horizons. That's completely okay. Your signs look like they're in good quality, and they use a nice little creative choice of six dot-high fonts, which is a nice change. Feel free to post them here and help out, too, if you need to. ^^
  10. No signs tonight, but a little update. Starting today, I'm going to delve a bit away from developing MTA signs and will focus now on signs from the former NYC private bus lines, including fantasy versions. I'll be starting with MegaMax flipdots and will progress into Horizon LEDs. The signs I'm working on now are these (ALL characters are in bold): A fantasy version of the 165 Street-bound Q6: Q6 (fifteen dots high): 165 ST TERMINAL (Seven high - on top) Jamaica (Seven-high- on the bottom) Q6 (fifteen dots high): via SUTPHIN ("via" five-high; "SUTPHIN" eight-high) - Parsons-bound Q111: Q111 (fifteen-high): PARSONS & (7-high, top) HILLSIDE (7-high, bottom) Q111: via BREWER ("via" 5-high; "Brewer" 8-high) - Astoria-bound Q101: Q101 (15-high): 19 AV & (7-high, top) HAZEN (7-high, bottom) Q101: via Steinway ("via" 5-high; "STEINWAY" 8-high) - Kings Highway Staion-bound B100: B100 (15-high): FILLMORE (12-high) B100: KINGS HWY (7-high) STATION (7-high) - Mill Basin-bound B100: B100 ("): 56 DR & (7-high) NATIONAL (7-high)
  11. Not just great, but EXCELLENT, too! Well done! Now, a MAJOR update! SIX new signs for the NYCTF! We're going back to memory lane here with two fantasy M27 signs the way I would make them! M27: U.N.-bound: M27: P.A. Terminal-bound: Now we move forward with two Bx23 Horizon LEDs! Via 1-2-3-4-5: Via 5-4-3-2-1: And now two more signs. I was asked by request by avbusbx13 if I could do a sign or two on a fantasy Q37 route. Normally, I don't do requests. I used to, but due to time restraints, I haven't been able to. However, I decided to make an exception and ACCEPT his request. Now the two signs: This is where I thank Casey Stengel, IRT, Coneyislandav7, SevenEleven, and everyone here who has contributed to this topic. Without you and everyone else who has participated in asking for signs or making your own, this topic wouldn't have flourished as well as it is now. You guys have been fantastic helping me and everyone else out, and I thank all of you as a result. I'm deeply honored.:tup::tup::tup::tup::tup:
  12. I'm back with more MegaMax flipdot signs! These took a couple of days to work on, but they came out well. All are based on the M98 Limited and the way I would construct them. 1. To Fort Washington Avenue: 2. To Hunter College: 3. To Central Park South (courtesy of FamousNYLover's idea in the "Create your own bus route" thread):
  13. That's okay. I understand how it feels to be eager and sometimes barging in amongst others' expenses. It happens.

While I may show a sharp tongue, I'm more than willing to forgive, especially when one owns up to mistakes. I not only accept your apologies, but I'm wiping the slate absolutely clean and starting fresh. ^^

  14. Hey, Shane! Long time, no hear! Hope your summer has been great! :D

  15. Very well-done, IRT!:tup: Now, for one Horizon LED: the uptown BxM1 Super Express and how I would do it! Unfortunately, this'll be all I'll do for this week. Tomorrow morning, I'm going on vacation to St. Martin/St. Martaan and St. Kitts and won't be back until next Wednesday. And I don't think my places have Internet access, either, so I won't be able to keep up. IRT, Coneyisland, and everyone else here, great work and keep it up! See you soon! B)
  16. Well, I'm back with a new sign! This time, a Horizon sign. This LED is for a fantasy route, the BxM5 (which travels from Penn Station to the Country Club via Central Park West, Major Deegan, Fordham Road, Webster Avenue, East Gunhill Road, 5-4-3-2-1, Bruckner Blvd., and into Country Club). Also, the thirteen-dot-high "5" (in "via 1-2-3-4-5") is correct, according to some pictures I looked at and some others that I saw personally on the Rockland Transport.
  17. He wasn't being a jerk. You requested for a sign persistently, and that doesn't fly with all of us. Ask just one time, and I would've been okay with it. Asking over and over again is overkill. Because of this and your rude response to IRT, your request for that sign for this case has been permanently denied. As a result, I'm giving you a warning. The next time you ask, ask once. If you want to remind us, tell us. But not after every minute. A "one- to two-week later" reminder would've sufficed. The next time you try that trick by nagging every five minutes again, I'll be doing some more drastic measures. For that matter, I request that you either remove my sign from your signature or put a credit either over or under it.
  18. After just three episodes, I've grown to REALLY like My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic! Rich characterization that doesn't just target young girls, but male adults, too. A great show that thus far breaks the girly stereotypes.
  19. I barely do requests nowadays, so I'm plotting ahead by making some of my own signs. ^^ Here are two more for today. A fantasy sign for a fantasy line called the BQ1 (that travels from Bed-Stuy/Franklin Avenue Station to Jamaica Center via FDR, LIE, and Jamaica Avenue): And the Sheepshead Bay-bound BM3 flipdot the way I would do it.
  20. LMAO! I'm glad you're taking care of it. ^^ Nonetheless, I have a flipdot scroll for display.
  21. You're welcome, Paul. ^^
