  1. What an idiot. Why complain that you got cut a break? Back in January I got stopped by undercover cops for public urination by Princes Bay station on the SIR, they should've gave me a summons but they didn't...they just frisked me and we went our own ways. As weird as it was being frisked, I'm just glad I didn't get the ticket. So don't take it for granted if a cop gives you a break, they could be deuchebags and slap cuffs on you if they wanted to.
  2. Yes, Charleston is closed on weekends now so the S74 and X17 run out of Yukon and the S78 run out of Castleton. I don't mind the new S79 now but I just wish the fleet was predominately Next Gens. But yeah, S.I. depots are a mess, Charleston being the worst, and Yukon IMO just a tad better than Castleton as they take care of their 5s better than the rest of the garages, with Yukon being a hit or miss. For some reason I think the S74 and S78 operate better when they're out of Castleton and Yukon compared to Charleston. The buses on weekends are generally on time and there are barely any missed trips.
  3. Caught 6194 on the S79 Select today...looks like this weekend was good to me in terms of catching Orion 5s on the S79. Other than that I spent the day in S.I. mainly riding the S74 and S78...although I see Yukon and Castleton buses on those lines for school trippers, I'm still getting used to seeing Yukon 6300s on the S74 again since I haven't rode a Yukon bus on the S74 in regular service since 2010. When I went back to Brooklyn I caught 934 and 847 on the B70. A good weekend I have to say.
  4. Took 6311 on the S79 Select today, rode it from the Eltingville train station to the mall, then to Brooklyn, and then back to the mall and it went out of service there.
  5. In all fairness, the minute those Xcelsiors from Staten Island were transferred to Ulmer Park is when they started giving issues, not to mention when Ulmer got their original batch, the buses were breaking down in the middle of the street. I can't really recall having any problems with them personally in Staten Island (e.g. a bus breaking down on me, except for one situation back in September when two XD40s broke down on the S53 back to back due to foam coming from the back of the buses and I was on one of them), but that was a while ago.
  6. That would suck. The Xcelsiors aren't that great of buses anyway, seeing how they've had the most problems compared to the Orion 7 3Gs and even the Novas. I wish Orion didn't exit the bus industry so soon, the chose to leave at the really wrong time.
  7. Interesting. So what will the bus be called, 5656 or 5658....
  8. What about the 7000s, I heard drivers were trained on them even though they drove NGs...I'd be surprised if they had to because other than the 7000s being diesel, everything in the drivers' area looks the same. What's going on with this bus?
  9. Yup, and you retire too many buses, you'll land yourself into a situation where you'll have to cut service.
  10. It depends on the depot the bus route is being sent to, in the case of the depot having a CNG facility or the ability to support hybrids. If you send a bus route to a depot that once belonged to a CNG garage to one without a CNG garage, you can get rid of some older CNG buses...send a bus route to a depot with a CNG facility, provided there are enough buses to support that move, then you can get rid of older diesel buses. That runs rush hours only along West Street and doesn't run make stops along the Narrows Road service road.
  11. So I finally got a chance to ride the XD60s today. Rode 4739 on the Bx2 and then 4723 and 4714 on the Bx9. How was the ride? In my opinion it was okay, but it was no different than riding their rigid 40' counterparts. Otherwise, I rode them, and now I could care less about them. Other than that, I had a good day today. Rode the S76 with a friend of mine and then headed to the Bronx afterwards. After that I went to Queens and caught 9892 on the Q34 from Flushing to Jamaica and then took the Q60 to Queens Plaza and went home after that.
  12. I saw 920 on the B16 heading to Bay Ridge while I was on my way to Prospect Park. What time did you see 903?
  13. Managed to catch two Orion 7s in a row while heading to work: 7603 on the B16 and then 7593 on the B43. If I caught a non-LBSS New Flyer on either line I wouldn't mind but they're so hard to come by.
  14. Damn, it must have been really bad then, considering 6157 and 6248 were roughly in the same area as that bus but they returned to service.
  15. On Presidents Day (Monday, but Saturday schedule) I saw Prevost on the X27 in Lower Manhattan with nobody on it. Poor driver, he must have felt lonely.
  16. The last time I saw 6252 was in Brighton Beach when that bus as well as a few other Orion 5s from Castleton were taken by the NYPD and parked along the streets as rescue buses. The other buses in Brighton Beach were 6157 and 6248, which are back at Castleton. But 6252, no idea. 6290 caught fire on Hylan Boulevard near Great Kills Park this past summer on the S79...from what I heard a wire made contact with the engine and that was that. 6337 was involved in a collision on the bridge on the S79 (I think in 2008). 6339 I have no idea, but the last time I saw that bus was in 2010. 6308, I really don't know, I saw that bus a few months ago and it was fine. Maybe it's just being worked on, that's all.
  17. Really? Oh boy, that must've been the conductor's ass right there. And the sign on the pillar says " trains stop at this station and run uptown on the from Bowling Green to 149th Street". Do you really think people have the capacity for one second to stop and read something?!?!?! /sarcasm
  18. You must mean the 3:00 trippers. Fort Hamilton has four intervals for their buses: 2:10, 3:00, 3:50 and 3:55
  19. What a day so far. I got some a.m. school tripper action in before work this morning. Caught 6055 on the S74/56 school tripper at the Eltingville Transit Center (runs along the S74 to Woodrow Road and Rossville Avenue, then along the S56 to Tottenville High School) and then caught 6330 on the S55 to Wendy Drive. Heading to my evening job, I caught 920 on the B16 (the 3:50 school tripper out of Fort Hamilton High School) at Fourth Avenue and 86th Street, and rode it to 36th Street. Then I caught 847 on the regular B16 at 12th Avenue and 36th Street and rode it to Prospect Park. THEN I caught 868 on the B43 and rode it to Nostrand Avenue and headed to work. All in all, a good day so far, especially with the three 1999/2000 New Flyer C40LFs in a row.
  20. Yeah, I'm supposed to be heading out to the Bronx this coming Wednesday with some friends to check them out. I'm in no rush either lol I guess to have more work for drivers out of the other garages, and to relieve the stress from the garage that has a majority of those express runs. Yukon has 98 runs on the X1-9, but Charleston has about 15-20 (I forget how many for Castleton and Meredith).
  21. You're missing out. The 2400s are amazing, probably one of the greatest looking buses the MTA has roaming on the streets. I remember during fare-free week after Hurricane Sandy hit I was taking the express buses back and forth between Brooklyn or Staten island and Manhattan...rode the Prevosts on the X1, X27 and X28. So while everyone was schlepping to take the shuttle buses between Brooklyn and Manhattan waiting over an hour to get on a bus with line control in the masses, I was taking the express buses (a majority of them Prevosts) and enjoying a comfortable ride.
