  1. The G operates OPTO on Saturday and Sunday schedules only. Therefore, you see late night G OPTO on Saturday and Sunday mornings after midnight.
  2. Those are 2010's which are "safe" for now. Manhattanville has a bunch too.
  3. If indeed there is an employee in charge, he, she has to be overwhelmed!
  4. Wasn't that the bus that was o/s at FLAT for months because they couldn't get it to perform? The powers that be probably sent it LGA to see if they could get it to perform properly there and they couldn't do anything with it either.
  5. Nice video. IDK where you got it from but someone inside NYCT might be pissed. Notice at the 2:55 mark how flimsy (third rail) current collectors are. No wonder why once in while they catch on an obstruction and fall off resulting in a dead train.
  6. Weight distribution. These are short locos with the trucks close to each other. With 2 back to back, the back truck on one and the front truck on the other are even closer. The rider car in the middle stretches out the weight of the 2 locos.
  7. No way. If somebody gets injured on NYCT property, they do not want to be a party of a lawsuit. Plus on recent events, members of the railfan community have proven that NYCT should not go out of their way to do favors. No doubt they will run around the facility turning it into a playground.
  8. Someone recently said 4615 has been very troublesome at Flatbush lately with it being in the shop for long periods of time. Now it's at LGA presumably being readied for service. This just proves that the suits at NYC Bus who decides which buses get transferred send MTA Bus the junk! Let's see how long 4615 last at LGA.
  9. The problem is you're getting high mileage replacements from the NYCT Bus side. Because these buses have put in lots of extra miles as Bustitutions when subway routes are out.
  10. I don't see any reason why the R211 options can't immediately follow the base order without a gap in time.
  11. Yes, internally (inside the agency), I have heard the term "Service Delivery". Keep in mind the agency pays a lot of money to those individuals who think of these fancy terminologies!
  12. 3603, already reported as scrapped, was seen by me on the eastbound LIE at Bell Blvd. being towed out to its final resting place this afternoon. Bus number spray painted on a side window.
  13. Call me a hard ass but in my 33 years career at NYCT, I'd like to say I've heard and seen it all. Sure it sucks to see it tagged before it has entered service, but once any piece of equipment is placed on NYCT tracks, all bets are off as far as vandalism is concerned. Even if an employee saw the deed being done, all he can do is report it, he will not risk his personal safety in chasing or apprehending the culprits. Police will be called. But guess what? By the time police show up, the culprits are long gone. Plus even if the culprits are still there, the cops will not go on the tracks unless power is off.
  14. Unknown. Not known. Yes, we know. That's what the contract states. They (MTA/NYCT) don't want more than 10 cars on the property till they know these won't have to be "returned to sender", just like what happened to the first 10 cars of the R179 order.
  15. They have car cleaners. And this is a very easy cleanup.
  16. JYD can't be expanded because the ground is too soft
  17. Yeah, bus ridership is high, but how many riders do not pay the fare or use the fare box like a donation to the poor box?
  18. They can't retire buses until they get replacements. Even "basket cases" have to be repaired until replacements come in.
  19. With all the cell phones around, a passenger can easily "drop a dime" on the t/o by calling 311 or 511 and reporting the incident. Now transit will take disciplinary action against the train operator for not reporting the incident. In a "he said she said" situation, transit will always believe the passenger.
  20. Call Control Center and be governed by their instructions. What would USUALLY happen is one door would by keyed open by the crew on the cars that has platformed in the front section of the train. The conductor opens the rear section normally. The train usually continues in service and picks up a TSS enroute with the t/o being interviewed by the TSS determining if the t/o is fit for service or not. The TSS would operate the train a few stops to check the brakes. But in this case since the incident happened on the structure with likely wet rails, the train will stop a lot differently with dry rails underground.
  21. $30 Million on a staircase, $61 Million on a new mezzanine.......There is much work to be done on the subway. TWU Local 100 has been saying for years they can do projects better and cheaper. MTA/NYCT does not want to listen. Transit could hire workers with the same skills as those workers provided by the private contractors and have better supervision over them. Sure the numbers on the payroll would be higher, but look at the benefit: no more paying all this extra money to the private contracting companies who take MTA/NYCT to the cleaners because it's just more expensive to do business in New York. Less capital money would be needed as some of those funds would be transferred to payroll and no more money to those big contracting companies. MTA saves money in the long run. But MTA does not want to listen.
  22. I hope I'm in the right room because I don't want to be buzzed by the NYCTF Police! I finally got to ride one of the New Prevosts Thursday afternoon....#1545 on LGA's QM34. Nice riding bus, comfortable a/c. As for the leg room, I found them quite narrow, you can tell by just looking at it. However I was able to snag one by the handicapped door and it was quite comfy. On another note: the first 2 rows of seats behind the operator were chained off. Don't get me wrong, the bus had plenty of room. I have yet to be on a LGA Express Bus that was more than halfway full. But on every LGA Express Bus I've rode since Covid restrictions have been eased, they're still blocking those seats off. It's a principle thing!
  23. Surprisingly to me, LGA's OG's seem to being retired at a much quicker than BP, and JFK/FR..........although they should quickly catch up. My opinion is that MTA Bus has a goal for all of the OG's to be retired by years end.
