  1. I personally spoke to one of the planners in front of Maspeth Savings Bank when they had an official presentation. The man listened and took notes.
  2. Swap of terminals for the Q39/Q67. There are lots of students from Ridgewood who use Thompson Ave. and they lose direct service. The B57 runs like crap like it is due to Flushing Ave. traffic. Now they want to extend it to Jackson Hts. And yes, it ran like crap when the terminal was in Downtown Brooklyn too. Going back to that will do no good. Loss of the Q29. No more service along Dry Harbor Road. Loss of 80th St. service to Woodside. 80th St. bus rerouted toward Grand Ave./Queens Blvd. B62 to Astoria, yes that is in the Queens plan. It runs like crap to Queens Plaza and now they're extending it to Astoria! Who the hell needs a route starting at B'way Jct., then taking the place of the B32 and further up taking the place of the B24 along Greenpoint Ave. in Queens? Just plain dumb to combing the Q101 with the Brooklyn portion of the B24 to the Willy B Plaza. I see not thru ridership. Send to Q101 to Columbus Circle. With congestion pricing coming, we need more local bus routes to Manhattan, not less. Look, I am not looking fora war with youse guys. Because we all have our opinions on what should be done. These are some of mine.
  3. The folks in my neighborhood and those who are represented by City Councilman Bob Holden will not be satisfied with "a few minor changes". There had better be BIG changes from the final draft because anything else will be fought by him and other City Council reps. Routes from the former privates are being disseminated and this will not be acceptable!
  4. How do you know? Do you have inside knowledge with some NYCT suit that this will absolutely/positively be done?
  5. No way because of the moving platform/gap fillers at 14th St. on the East Side. All IRT equipment has to be able to operate on both the east and west sides. You can't restrict some cars to a certain side of town in case of reroutes and needed flexibility to transfer cars from one barn to another as needed throughout the lifetime of the cars.
  6. Both buses are in B38 service right now 1623 hours 7/13/2023
  7. As I type this at 1448 hours on 7/11/23, 4754 is in service.
  8. Probably saving money on cars because they will be buried anyway. Perhaps they're giving the full treatment to are the cars that are "head out", that is cars used by the crew.
  9. The point is that there are train operators out there, myself included who had a lot of time when the R160's came out (I'm now retired 9 1/2 years BTW) who just feel more comfortable operating the equipment we were operating for years. And we have enough seniority to pick those lines! If the line I'm working gets new equipment, I HAVE THE RIGHT VIA MY SENIORITY to work another line! Nobody has a right to second guess me because the line I'm leaving will still be covered by others. A site like this with posters who are in love with new trains have no right to tell me I can't go elsewhere! And yes, I did qualify on the R143/160 and I did not like them. Why? Because I did not like where the controller was placed... on the cab window ledge! As far as people "refusing" to get qualified on the R211, I don't believe for one second that people who work the A line are refusing. When the crew office schedules you to get qualified (someone else will be scheduled to work your job) you go get qualified at the location where they tell you to go. That is your assignment for the day!
  10. And what about service reliability on such a route? With rush hour traffic, what kind of running time would that be? And would your running time be enough time? How much recovery time at the end of the route? Would that be enough? What about the daily bus operator work program for his work day? Sorry, I don't see a direct route from the Bronx to JFK Airport on NYCT. One route would be eniirely too long.
  11. Yes, there are many, many, many, many........structural flaws with the Market Frankford Fleet. These will be replaced long before the Broad St. fleet will be replaced. Recently a defect affecting an inordinate number of cars was detected and something like only 8 trains were able to meet AM rush hour requirements till the entire fleet was inspected.
  12. What about the train crews? Couldn't a mistake in stopping at the wrong car marker be very possible from trip to trip if a t/o has an 8 car R179 on one trip and a 10 car R179 on the next trip? Isn't the probability of not making a mistake be possible if a C train operator had an R179 to always stop at the 8 car marker and having an R46 to stop at the 10 car marker? Common sense my friend, logic!
  13. IDK what's wrong with the posters on this site. They know damn well that the Pitkin Yard put in leaves Euclid Ave. M-F at the same time to Far Rockaway, technically it is a shuttle since it starts from Euclid, and for one day the crew (maybe both members were extra people) and instead of "A" signs they used "S" signs instead, and they act like the wheel was just reinvented. Unbelievable!
  14. This thread is for buses that ARE scrapped. Not for buses THAT ARE NOT. Thank You.
  15. Too many posters here are talking like they know exactly what is going to happen as to equipment assignments. After their OPINIONS, others say "I heard this, or I heard that" and others, because said opinion was repeated several times, the opinion becomes fact. It is truly ridiculous!
  16. They would be rotated to their assigned inspection facility when due, but if the train has problems before inspection is due, naturally it has to be swapped out for another train from Livonia. So the #1 Line could get a train from Livonia just inspected "yesterday" and it could go bad the very next day, or it could run great and last right thru its next inspection cycle. This is where MDBF comes from.
  17. New buses and new train cars do not have to be delivered in numerical order. There are certain tests done at the manufacturing plant and modifications/repairs have to be made before delivery....hence they are sometime delivered out of numerical order.
  18. As noted in the past, Concourse barn, with 3 tracks including one for wheel truing, does not have enough room to inspect and repair trouble cars for 2 long mileage routes. CIYD has plenty of room to continue to maintain the number of cars for the B line. CCYD can continue to store, but not maintain, B cars between the rush hours, overnights and weekends. It's beyond comprehension why this thought process of CCYD being able to possibly maintain both the B and D fleets continues to be bought up every few months.
  19. Can we all stop with the speculation about who will actually get what with the upcoming MTA Bus Order and the speculation of added routes to Yonkers? THIS thread is for movements THAT HAVE ACTUALLY HAPPENED. The current discussion going on in the last few pages BELONGS in RANDOM THOUGHTS THREAD. Sorry for all the caps, as these were done for emphasis.
  20. What you see lit in that tunnel tells transit workers the location of an emergency telephone. They are all over the place underground. The blue lights to (hopefully) deter jumpers are within the station confines.
  21. Could you run by me the fleet numbers for the upcoming MTA Bus order of Nova's and LFS' once again? Many thanks!
  22. In this case, "on the road" would mean running the A line in test service, certainly not passenger service. IJS!
