  1. And kiddies the last one for the weekend from me. The 1st video ever played on MTV when it was a music channel in August 1981. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hiJ9AnNz47Y
  2. Speaking of Grandmaster Flash here another all time classic. Great beat. What amazing is the lyrics are still relevent in 2011. Hey Charlie Sheen could get a tip from this to try to save his life. "White Lies"
  3. AEMoreira I already posted the 'message' about a week. Other than the slang 'faggots" this is a classic song(hiphop or not)that describes the hood that is 'pg' in 2011 culture without excessive cursing or using the "N" word. Not to mention "Rolling Stone' and many music crtitics have voted "the Message' as the best Hip Hop song of all time. There a reason it been remade/sampled several times.
  4. My late Dad loved that song:tup:. Used to hear as an infant in the 1970's on my dad old 45 turn tables.
  5. If you had read this above last week, I was the most accurate in the date the 1st set of M-8's went into service. I said around the first week of March from my brother who works in Metro North. Anyhow ah men that they are starting to arrive and put to retirement almost all of the current NH fleet.
  6. Oh yes. A #1 worldwide hit from about early 2001. Great beat. Kind of blunt with a few lyrics of a guy being caugh 'cheating' with a babe in the bathroom.
  7. Since it Sunday Morning I like to hear Gospel Music when in the mood. Here a great song by the guy who sold more albums than anyone ever in history of the genre of Gospel. Sounds a bit like MC Hammer. Kirk Franklin (he still has critics)has 'modernized' gospel and entire 'faith based' genre with blending in aspects of Rap/Hip-Hop and '90's era New Jack R&B sound into many new fans. Anyhow here is.
  8. Oh yes Drake. Very lucky young man as IMO this generation's Mark Wahlberg and Will Smith an wannabe rapper, who better off as an actor. It helped him he was on that international hit teen drama show "Degrassi: The Next Generation." Anyhow since it's Saturday Night I am listening to one of the great dance songs of all time.
  9. As the immortal Forest Glen would say 'incorrect.' I stand by my source (my brother) who works directly for Metro North who states if things go to plan(they getting close to the magic '4,000' miles w/o a hitch) the M-8's will debut in Early/Mid March.
  10. Listening to what many people feel was and is still the best Rap/Hip-Hop song ever created. "Grandmaster Flash' and the 'Furious 5's' classic that singlehandely put them in the Rock Hall of Fame a couple of years back. Man what a difference world NYC was back in 1982. The lyrics still ring true today between the 'haves' and 'have nots.; Kiddies it's called the "Message.'
  11. One of the biggest service changes in the history of CDTA's Albany, NY area bus system is coming starting April 3. Here their press statement. "CDTA BusPlus Service to Launch in April - State Route 5 Coordior Service Changes to go into effect on Sunday, April 3, 2011.' This April, CDTA will introduce BusPlus, a new limited stop service between downtown Schenectady and downtown Albany along NY State Route 5. Customers will notice faster service, better frequency, increased accessibility and new amenities and 25% more service will be added to the Route 5 corridor for BusPlus. BusPlus will operate Monday-Friday, 4am- midnight, Saturdays, 6am-11pm, and Sundays, 7am-6pm. Beginning on April 3, 2011 service on Route 5 will operate as follows: All local service on Route 5 will meet at the Colonie stations (Northway Mall or Colonie Center) to connect with other local routes or BusPlus. · Route #1 Central Avenue routing will remain the same, stopping at all local stops and BusPlus stations between Broadway and the Colonie station at Colonie Center. The schedule has an increased span of service hours, starting earlier in the morning and running later at night. · Route #55 (Schenectady-Albany) will become Route #355 stopping at all local stops and BusPlus stations between Liberty Park in downtown Schenectady and the Colonie stations (Northway Mall or Colonie Center). The hours of service on the #355 are the same as those on the #1. · Route #905 BusPlus limited stop service along the entire Route 5 Corridor from Schenectady to Albany. BusPlus will have 18 designated limited stops (known as stations) along each side of Route 5. Route 55X (Schenectady-Albany Express) and Route 57X service will be replaced by three new express routes that will originate at Park-n-Ride lots on Route 5, travel by the Thruway directly to Empire State Plaza before circulating downtown but will not run local service. Three express routes will operate as follows: •Route#530 - Rotterdam Square Mall/Exit 26 Park-N-Rides to Empire State Plaza via the Thruway – CDTA has 100 shared-use spaces at the Rotterdam Square Mall. •Route #531 - St. Luke’s/Division Street to Empire State Plaza via 890-Thruway – This existing park–n-ride lot with 75 spaces will be the origin of a new CDTA express run. •Route #532 - Woodlawn Plaza via the Crosstown/890/Thruway – CDTA has 70 shared-use spaces at Woodlawn Plaza. Note: BusPlus accepts all CDTA fare passes including Swipers, 10 Trip passes and Day cards. For more information on these service changes, please call 482-8822 or visit www.cdta.org." link: http://cdta.org/iride_projects_detail.php?id=169 So looks like the Albany area's version of say Utica Ave in Brooklyn or Fordham Rd in the Bronx, NY state's 'captial region" busiest Bus coordior is going 'full speed' with their version of BRT.(known in NYC as 'select bus service.) Only issue IMO is that it would had been nice for the CDTA to also bulit a 'spur BRT" line also to SUNY-Albany/Crossgates Mall. Maybe it will be created in near future, if this new faster service is a huge success. Next step for CDTA is plans for building either a light rail or commuter rail between towns of Schenectady and Saratoga Springs and Albany's Renseller Station. With long term goal to extend it down the road, to run it southbound to Amtrak's Catskill/Hudson, NY Station. Reactions? However with this ongoing recession, it might be years away from starting.
  12. Oh yes. a Great classic from the '80's. Song that made sense and not filled with sexual orgies or disssing people. Tears for Fears should be considered for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame IMO. I think it's at least 25 years since their 1st charted single in 1985. Had that combo of '60's British invasion rock/Motown sound. Here the video clip kiddies.
  13. I keep my finger cross for regular NH line riders who deserve a 'reward' for the crappy 2010-'11 winter season that has dropped the availablity of the existing train fleet to bare bones. My brother who works for Metro North told me the same thing. If this latest test of a new M-8 going 4,000 miles with no errors at all, as early as the start of March (he doubtful for this Saturday 2/26 but not impossible)the 1st cars could debut then. Subject to change though.
  14. Normally I am not into heavy metal rock. However in recent years maybe since this was played to death at many sportsclubs/clubs i went to in my college years in mid-1990's, I grown to like this now classic. Also the theme for when future Yankees Closer "Mo" Rivera enters the game. 'Enter the Sandman 'http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dv37JfwmIbg
  15. This morning listening this to this '90's classic a mix of 'smooth jazz' and a little hip-hop. Man why can't pop music be this cool anymore. "Cantaloop" by US3 .http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JwBjhBL9G6U
  16. Agreed 100% bro(NYCBUSFAN). Look personally I like a couple of Kelly Clarkson songs and to me she cute's (not drop dead beautiful) that I would date. However maybe showing my age when I listen to a song I want to be entertained whether it rapping to a story or singing about the heartbreak of love. I buy Sports Illustrated' Swimsuit' Issue if I want to see pretty ladies in a binkini. Clarkson became a superstar only because she won the first season 2002 "American Idol." Kelly, Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Rhinna are examples in which the ladies of pop music have to look like fashion model types and not the most talented singers around. However for great pop/old school music for the ladies give me someone like Teena Marie, Diana Ross, Blondie(Debbie Harry) or Donna Summer anyday to buy an CD/Album or w/e they called these daysnor even see in concert. With the exception of Debbie Harry, I am not sure great singers like Donna Summer and Teena Marie would make it these days.B) Here the 1st hit circa 1980 for the now and great Teena Marie. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=38S1uaz3Pow
  17. Or this classic which still sounds great almost 30 years later. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKFo3rimLGs
  18. Here a dance classic from the past. My ex-girlfriend loved this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uz4eHPD40w4
  19. Bro send me at least either the artist or lyrics you enjoy via a private message and I try to get it for you on a link in a PM ok.
  20. Oh great. Another Kelly clarkson fan but that your choice. Man I wish they were more fans of the '70's/80's on here.
  21. Another "Harold Melvin and Bluenotes' here as well. I still love that or Teddy solo stuff as well.
  22. Listening to one of all time 'slow' jams growing up as a teen in the 1980's. "Holding Back the Years" By Simply Red
