  1. This might get merged with the song thread but there really isn't that much talk of radio stations here on the forums. I am a avid listener of the radio and prefer it over other music services like Pandora, YouTube, Spotify and the whole nine. I would like to know what radio stations people on here like to and are listening to. With different radio apps like iheartradio and TuneIn Radio the selection of stations to choose from is larger than ever and your favorite stations can be taken on the go. Right now I am listening to 106.7 Lite FM (New York's Best Variety) although I like many others that mainly cover the Top 40/Pop scene, like Z100.
  2. Regents, Regents, Regents... I actually remember all of my scores so I'll share U.S History-99 Global History-98 Spanish-98 (I honestly forgot most of the Spanish I learned) Geometry-92 Physics-92 English-89 Algebra- 86 Living Environment- 85 Algebra 2 and Trig- 84 Chemistry-82 (my lowest AP Exam score was also in Chemistry)
  3. On the whole regents discussion I got a 99 on my US History and 98 in Global. I found history in high school to be ridiculously simple as I got those scores and kept grades of 95 and higher throughout the class without expressing an interest in the subject. Now to my random thought, I happen to have done some research and found that the median household income in Brownsville, Brooklyn is $15,978 (as of 2008). Now, I know this is one of the worst hoods in the city, (which tempted me to look this up as I found out about more violence in Chicago) but how can a neighborhood in a major city have a household income that low?
  4. now playing: Ellie Goulding- Lights

    1. CDTA

      CDTA

      Oh thats a good one.

  5. Decided to copy and paste from the shoutbox. I wanted it there first but then put it here and it came out that way.
  6. I don't like how the thickest people always try to squeeze in between folks for seats on NTT's.
  7. To answer 2a I don't think this should happen. The routes would become longer and more unreliable without gaining much of a ridership boost. If, as you say few people were going via bus to the airport, why should the bus serve more of it? The AIRTrain is better for serving all terminals plus people who can afford plane tickets these days should have no problem dishing out $5 for the AIRTrain. For 2b I would like to see trips shortened to the AIRTrain station although some service to the airport should be retained.
  8. Reducing B46 service? That's a no-no. That would create more problems then currently exist with the so-called "rampant farebeating". If there are 50,000 paying riders per day on B46 and the farebeaters started paying that number could go up to be somewhere between 55,000 and 60,000 justifying even more B46 service. So in some way to VG8's point the current B46 service is a reduction caused by farebeaters so why reduce it even further and affect the nearly 50,000 paying riders? VG8 is usually wise with his posts but this reducing B46 service talk is the total opposite of wise. (p.s. checkmate- farebeaters only count as riders when the B/O presses F5. How often does that happen? Because of this I say they don't count.)
  9. So today I saw tons of bus bunching along 5th Avenue this afternoon and even on the Bx31. For some odd reason 296 saw the need not to stick to it's route. I'm on 7780 which was right behind it and when the bus got to the light at Allerton I see 296 turning onto Eastchester from Allerton and then proceeds to skip the stop there when riders were waiting. How on earth did a Bx31 bus get on to Allerton Avenue when it's route is along Eastchester Road and no portion of Eastchester Road was blocked off? By the way 296 was in service.
  10. My problem with this Bx18 is that all of the "major" areas it serves already has plenty of bus service. Norwood 205 St already has the Bx10,16,28,30.34 and 38, Fordham Plaza has the Bx 9,12,15,17,22, 41 and 55 and Westchester Sq has the Bx4,4a,8,21,24,31,40 and 42. This is nothing more than a connect the dots route and to be honest these dots should not be connected. People in the Norwood area are not seeking bus service to Westchester Square and vice versa.
  11. Just number the new one Bx43 and keep the Bx18.
  12. I've seen Next Bus Please on buses that were not in service.
  13. What is the difference between the Not In Service and Next Bus Please signs? Someone enlighten me.
  14. This should be renamed the Let's Ruin the Bus System in Queens thread. When I look at Queens I see routes that aren't horribly unreliable and for the most part get good usage. That is not to say it is perfect but there is honestly no need for most of the stuff being presented here.
  15. I'm was imagining the Bx12 running without any artics whatsoever. I can't see that route functioning with a regular fleet 40 footers especially during rush hour.
  16. I'm trying to imagine the Bx12 using 40 foot buses. It's hard to picture what that would look like and the chaos that could possibly ensue.
  17. back to the buses and subways tomorrow. I hope it's fun!

  18. So today I happened to hear 2 people on the that said some things that were not smart. First at 59th St the train was crowded and a bunch of people moved to get off the train. The last dude to get off gave me a look and said "You need to take that off". I had nothing on me besides my clothes and the bookbag/napsack I use every day so I wondered why on earth he would say that. Maybe he thought my bag was taking too much space but it would take up the same amount of space had I held it in one hand. On a less personal note a middle aged lady starts looking at the Badoo ads that are gracing subways across the city (this is in between 59th and 42nd) and starts talking about the phone types the app is available for. All you need to know is she ends up saying, "No one under 45 gets a Blackberry unless forced to for work or something." I'm thinking in my head that she must not know people under 45 because I have a Blackberry and I would be under 40 if my age were doubled. Plus, I know many people in my age range with a Blackberry. What have people brains come to?
  19. So at 8:45 this morning and it usually is around the same time other mornings, a New Lots Avenue bound is announced as approaching 125th Street. Past experiences with the at this time seems to always result in the train arrival voice announcing New Lots as the terminal and the train signed up with Utica Av as the terminal. Something doesn't make sense for this to be repeating for months.
  20. Should the Bx12 and M15 +SBS be split from the local when the MTA does their annual ridership counts? I think so because it would shine some light on the effectiveness of +SBS on both routes. From what I see +SBS buses are usually more crowded than the locals but it would be nice if the numbers showed how much more usage +SBS gets vs the locals on both routes.
  21. I have a hard time believing that Jessica did the , and announcements. She sounds like a different person on each line. The and announcements sound louder than those on the or it could just be her yelling/placing emphasis on the word "express". And the Bronx bound announcements sound louder than the Brooklyn bound ones for some reason.
  22. Wonders why limited stop buses in Staten Island have to be numbered differently from their local counterparts. In the four other boroughs limited routes are numbered the same as their corresponding local routes and it's not like riders really benefit from a number difference. From a riders standpoint locals and limiteds follow the same route pattern, the only difference is the stops themselves.
