  1. I'm shocked there's no NCAA Tournament thread on here. I would start it but i'm too lazy to do so.
  2. I finally saw an LFSA on the M23 as I was able to spot 5845 heading towards Chelsea Piers while walking to class. Question is what took so long to finally get LFSA's on this route?
  3. What phone news do we have so far in 2012? Anything new worth picking up or looking at for the future?
  4. Why is it that the LFSA's don't want to run on M23? I'm down around 23rd Street every day and have yet to see anything on that route. On the other hand the M14 is running plenty of them.
  5. Walking around that station can be a headache at times because of those streets.
  6. Just wondering if near-duplicate routes that get combined together for the ridership stats (examples Bx1/2, 28/38, 40/42) are viewed as one route for the sake of the people at the depots dispatching service and what not. For example if a Bx28 and Bx38 show up at a certain stop at the same time is that a bus bunch?
  7. Random Thought: The stations on the line south of 34th St are WAY too close together!!! I would consider getting rid of a couple.
  8. When the and lines are running without delays the service is amazing!!!!
  9. Last time I checked a 60,000 mile MDBF doesn't qualify as an opinion. The stats show that they suck, plain and simple. It's about time these things end up in the ocean instead of in subway tunnels.
  10. I'm willing to throw the (4)'s R142's into this as well. The line send's it's R142A to the in exchange for the R142's. And then the and lines can swap from there.
  11. My advice is to stay away from the train. That line will be a lame duck for the next six years with those R32's and isn't worth half of the $2.25 riders currently pay. Those cars are falling apart. A 60,000 mile MDBF is not acceptable for a subway system in the 21st Century. We can talk about the as a relevant line once I see some NTT's.
  12. You are correct. Local trains terminate at Parkchester and express trains terminate at Pelham Bay Park.
  13. The line has changed in those 10 years. Ridership has increased greatly over those 10 years and the trains now run more frequently than they did 10 years ago. Trains need to run every 2 minutes on this line and having to change signs at Brooklyn Bridge will threaten that precious headway.
  14. The line will struggle to maintain it's 2-3 minute headway if rollsigns have to changed. People seem to forget that the has 2 weekday terminals in the Bronx. As it is on the every train terminates at Flushing-Main Street or Times Square so the t/o doesn't have to worry about the sign. R62A won't work for the unless digital signs AND automated announcements were put in place. In all honesty the best line for these cars is the one that they are currently on.
  15. You're right. They are working cars. So there is no need to move them from the lines they currently run on.
  16. Where these R62A's end up is not the problem. The fact that they have to be moved in the first place is the problem. The ENTIRE IRT is doing fine with their current fleets. Why rob Peter to pay Paul when Paul isn't even asking for anything? I don't hear line riders complaining about R62A's so why take them away from that line? In fact I have rode the line and found the R62A to be a good car model for that line. Just keep everything as is and upgrade the Flushing line to ATS. The Dyre Av and White Plains Road lines are getting ATS,why not the ?
  17. Why can't , line riders continue to ride the R62A's and keep everything as is? Give the Flushing line ATS as their signal upgrade instead of CBTC. It's saves money and it's a win-win situation for everyone.
  18. Let's not make a big deal out of this. It's not like any of these lines will be getting R32's or R42's. However, there could be some negative PR from this move. I and many riders believe that the newest car fleets should be placed on the most crowded lines. Newer cars cost less to maintain, don't break down as frequently and offer a more comfortable ride than the older fleet. For those reasons, I feel it is important for the , and lines to keep the R142/R142A fleet. Riders may not cry bloody murder but some and maybe most Lex riders will be pissed if they have to ride subways that are not as bright and inviting as the one's they have been used to. Plus R62A's were not designed to handle the types of crowds present on today's Lex Av line. The , and lines also blend well together with the uniform car fleet. That cohesion makes it easy for tourists to navigate the Lexington Avenue line and shouldn't be messed with. We don't want a situation like the Broadway/7 Av line where the stands out from the and . Besides, does the line even need newer trains? It should get ATS instead of CBTC which would be a less costly installation and save more money by avoiding this R188 car order.
  19. You can't get the 4 train from penn station. You can get it from Grand Central.
