  1. Its at Wayne. My normal driver had it. He was not happy with it and I understood why. Slow brakes, mediocre A/C and it only did 65. Not sure how it ended up at Wayne but I don't think its one that they want to keep. Also 7160 is at Meadowlands....it was sideswiped by a tractor trailer yesterday morning during the AM rush.
  2. Silk City Transit, how is the 164 split between Oradell and Market St? I remember hearing that Market St does the "X" and Oradell does the local but I'm not certain if that's right because that means Oradell does not do the 164 during the rush hours at all.
  3. Does anybody know if you can just show up for those exams that NJT is advertising for P/T Bus Operator or do you have to be invited
  4. Silk City Transit, Thanks for the info. Sounds like Oradell is not a bad place to be. I'm at ShortLine so I know all about the unrealistic schedules and such. We deal with the same over here. The only reason why I'm even considering leaving is because of the lack of pension. The only other thing holding me back from applying is the fear of getting thrown somewhere like Orange or Big Tree. If I could get Oradell,Wayne or Ironbound I would be over in a heartbeat. 553, Dude we were on Rt.3 from Union City to Moonachie and I swear it was a furnace back there. Normally my regular schedule has a 40fter so there is usually no problem like that. The driver said today we'll see more 7100s on the 161 because the buses have problems making up the hills to Warwick in the summer.
  5. After the ride I took on 7166 yesterday my advice to everybody is not to sit in that back row on the 7100s. I felt like my whole ass was on fire. Even with the AC on everybody sitting back there was drenched! Hey Silk City Transit, How is Oradell to work out of. I know they lines are heavy but I would rather work somewhere like that.
  6. Just like how the North Jersey guys use the GWB and West Side Hwy to get to the PABT. It's known that it goes on but as long as they don't get a ticket or have an accident then nobody cares. Losing the 551 and 554 is a big deal for Washington Twp. Is this a spilt or outright transfer of these routes?
  7. I don't know if that's still in effect. Guys from Howell and Ironbound do it during the rush to avoid the backups on 495 during the PM rush. I think the new CNGs will be out all day from now on. The problem with the 7000s is that they have small tanks so they don't have enough fuel to stay on a all day 139 run. The new D4500s don't have that problem. Now if they are gonna be running these on the 128 I would love to know if MCI has fixed the "2 standee" problem on the new CNGs
  8. I wonder if it would be worth it to convert these to diesel. Being rush hour only units they can't have that much mileage on them plus it would definatly help out with the MCI shortage.
  9. Not sure if NJT asked them to test it (again?) or if CUSA just went ahead and did it but ShortLine's 8798 (D4500) is now equip'd with a ZF ASTronic transmission.
  10. I thought that these were getting ordered for specifically for the 319? Our CTHs are not bad buses, awesome takeoff and they are fast as hell (75mph) but they die out on the hills. I don't know how well they would work out climbing the Driscoll Bridge or the hills on the GSP. Another pain in the ass issue is that when they need work they have to be sent out and when they go down they tend to be OOS for awhile.
  11. I was told by a old timer at Howell that they tried to use the Neo's on the 139 when they were new and the people threw a fit.
  12. That might have been a Meadowlands driver doing the 167 with a Howell bus. Usually if a bus breaksdown in New York they will swap with a Meadowlands or Ironbound bus.
  13. 7501 was out on the 319 last night. Not even into the summer yet and the non-lav's are showing up.
  14. 7854 is out of service at the Meadowlands garage with heavy front end damage.
  15. The reason why NJT has D4000S has nothing to do with the ridership and everything to do with space. Quite a few garages (Oradell,Market St and Ironbound) do not have the room to have a full complement of D4500s. Looking at the ridership now and what is projected in the future NJT has too many D4000s and not enough 4500s. This is part of the reason you have the Meadowlands helping on the 166 and 167, Howell on the 128,308 and 321 among others.
  16. For whatever reason 8109 is at Wayne.....it was on the 195 last night. These swaps are getting a bit strange!
  17. I wonder what Wayne got in return. I know that particular bus broke down at the PABT a week ago on the gate and they gave the driver a Ironbound unit. I thought it would have gotten swapped back into Wayne by now.
  18. Is there a update to the Clever Devices? I've noticed that the control screen on some buses are black instead of blue.
  19. I thought the 48 and 62 had an actual transfer point? I would have rather they left the 62 alone if that was the result.
  20. The Nova's in the dead lot next to the Meadowlands garage are being moved around. Plus there is a Nova parked against the fence outside te Meadowlands garage.......I think a return to service might be likely for some units.
  21. 7757 has LED signs from a CNG. It was out on the 116 today....looked good.
  22. Wayne's 8853 now has LED signs. Looks like they are from a Nova....smaller front sign. Looks ok....not sure if they are gonna do anymore like that.
