  1. Think smaller. This other jet was Boeing's most succesful aircraft until the 737 showed up on the scene. IIRC,just about every major US airline operated this aircraft.
  2. Southwest is famous for only operating the B737. But they did operate another type of Boeing...which model?
  3. The name change to Trans World happened in the 50s. Looking for the original name.
  4. I'll give up an easy one this time: What did TWA originally stand for?
  5. First flight was in 1954 and has been in continuous production/service with the USAF since that time.
  6. What is the only aircraft to remain in continuous production for over 50 years with it's launch customer. Hint: Launch customer was the Air Force
  7. Hey Brian,

Yeah I'm working outta East Hartford for the fall bid,by the time it came down to me their were no more spots left in Providence or Cape Cod. Mon,Tue and Sat, I do a quick turn to NYC...2pm HFD-NYC,6PM NYC-HFD. On Fri I'm the 2pm to NYC and the 8PM back to HFD and Sun I'm the 12n to NY and 6p back to HFD. Its not a bad run, just not the moneymakers I'm used to working.

So you left Bolt too huh. I've seen Bill a couple of times now that he's driving for RIPTA. I've heard things at Bolt haven't been so great after Dan left. I've thought about sending in a app for Bolt, but I'll see how things work out here over the next year.

If you're ever in the PABT around the same time as me,swing by Gate 15....I could always use some company down in the hole.

  8. One of the reasons why I like this website is because I'm around folks who like or even love all things transit. Most here know that we don't have one of the most "normal" hobbies but I can say I think it's the most fun. So what got YOU into being a transit fan? Myself, I grew up the kid of a CTTransit B/O in Hartford,CT. I literately grew up in the garage and on the buses. I guess you could say it was kinda preordained that I was gonna drive a bus of some kind. As I got older I got interested in airplanes, ships and to a lesser extent....trains,but the buses have always had my heart. I remember loving riding with my dad of the F1 line in the fishbowls. Sitting in the back while that 6V92 screamed its way up Asylum Hill was awesome. Didn't really like the Grummans, but having A/C in the summer was a plus. And the MCI Classic's IMO were the best buses CTTransit ever purchased. Then the D40HFs and Nova's showed up in the mid-90s and it made it fun to ride around all day. And while I like them when the LFs showed up I wasn't really enamored with the "tissue box on wheels" look, but the performance those buses have won me over. And it's still fun now. I see some of the now-senior guys who started with my dad back in the 80s and I remember what a bunch of cowboys they were (or in my dad's case, still is:p) and now I see the new generation of drivers out there and in a way its kinda sad. Alot of the camaraderie is gone, guys don't wave, make funny faces or flash the high beams anymore. But hey we always got the buses!
  9. I like the little hole in the wall place @ 9th and 41st across from the PABT. $1 slices and it's really good. It works for those of us on a tight turn.
  10. Happy Birthday Matt!

  11. Happy Birthday, Shane!

  12. Just a ?.....how did the A/C unit catch on fire?
