  1. I was talking about Egg Harbor first new mcis with those numbers mentioned. 7531-41 went to fairview after 7177-87 arrived then 7531-41 went to howell.

As for getting 7531-41 back, not happening. They dont want any 40fters at egg harbor, and that option for 10 electric hybrids will likely be taken with the lavs. Im not sure if anyone knows but the order for the hybrids may total up to 105 buses. 3500-3537 will be the first 37, then 3538-3548 with lavs.

Washington Twp will be getting a bunch of Howells 7400 and 8200 D4500s.

Lol we have to keep our buses up. Running 24hrs puts a toll on them, they are put through heavy maintenance daily.

7181 blew a turbo and within 2 days it was back in service, 7181 again bellows blew in the rear and the kneeler blew(happened all at once; what are the odds) and was back in service in 3 days. No problems since.

NJT had been starting orders with 01 like Nabi 5201 and 5501.

  2. With all of the orders MCI is winning, I'm making this both for the CNG and Hybrid contracts.

As of today. New Jersey Transit awarded the contract of 37 Hybrid-Electric OTR Coaches to MCI. They will run exclusively out of Egg Harbor Garage. There's an option for 10 more with Lavatories installed in them.

Pages 3 to 8 in this link.

Thanks for the CNG & Hybrid in one thread.

    -----------------------------------

Post here for anything relating to 7278 and the hot mess that has been going on at Howell.

Wonder why they would not start where the designlines left off 7215 or so ?

  4. I saw that. I'm with the commuter.

Love how with the Portal Bridge and Meadowlands fires along with every other tunnel-related delay he still stands by his decision to scrap ARC. It's like I said in the AC thread, he doesn't care about his taxpayers.

I am not defending him. But 95 percent of NJ people don't go to NYC everyday to work. So he probably went with most of the voters who don't want to spend all that money on something they may never or rarely use.

  5. I can see NJT doing the same thing with the CLs that Amtrak is doing with the HHP-8s. Retiring them early because of their maintenance problems. But I don't see it happening anytime soon.

MCI better not screw up with these CNG's coming in or forget any future orders for any type of bus. Competition is getting hot with Prevost and the new owners of Designline.

  6. Oradels not getting a new garage anytime soon. Blvd east service is frequent so that the problem is not overly major. They have more buses out then in. If they dont get a new garage transit probably will order 40fters just for them and market street. Mci will make 40fters if transit says the right price.

It does not have to be a NEW garage it could be just shifting buses or routes around to other garages. It can be done with planning.

  7. Yet, if the numbering starts at 7213, then 148  buses would put the highest numbered MCI at 7360.

I'm wondering if this is the start of the numbering for the option order, since the 65th bus with an order starting at 7213 would put the last of the "base" order buses at 7277.

Keep in mind the haphazard delivery of the current MCI fleet, where, as I recall, there didn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to how the buses were numbered during the delivery process.

They had a chance to start fresh with #2001 or 3001 with this order and continue on since all will probably be 45ft buses from now on anyway.

  8. I take it Howell hasn't bought out any D4500s on the 116 yet.

Ironbound needs to get their act together, Meadowlands and Howell can't do the 308 by themselves. Especially when the buses operate during rush hour.

Last time I saw a CNG was this morning, and that was the first time in weeks I had seen one.

Been seeing more DesignLines doing the AM rush runs. They're still on the 139, they're occasionally on the 64, 67, 133 and 138. Still haven't caught any on the 131/135.

That's how short on buses they are to be using those DL's.

  9. Ive seen the 126 some of those turns are tight but not impossible. If you can move around in pabt you can drive a 45' anywhere. The key is mirrors thats it and shoulder your turn, aka box your turn. The problem is alot of drivers make it hard by not following the basics. However boxing doesnt apply to every turn.

Right now at 611pm there are 19 buses on the 126 including mci 7788.

  10. Any sign you want to see put in your request here. I dont drive nabis much but you can still make a request and ill get it for ya, for now enjoy! I was working the 559 early today.
