  1. Well for that to happen, they'd have to open up bids for (and award a contract to NABI or another builder for) new buses to go from 6538-6614 or whatever. The options on the current NABI order have run out, and they have to by law go through a new bid process to get however many new buses they need. The bid and the results of it have to be posted on the NJT procurement site, and AFAIK there's nothing there about any extra buses coming in.

Basically, they can't just go to NABI and pay them for more buses without going through a bid process and especially not without telling the public about the contract on the NJT procurement site. Everything Transit orders from new buses to cleaning contracts has to get put up on that site.

Did some research the option did happen on June 9th 2011 the order was extended by 158 buses to cover all the remaining RTS buses and approved that day. I forgot all about that happening back then. The original order ended much earlier than 6538 so we will see how high they go.

But nobody else makes a standard floor bus so bids are not needed.  Nabi is it. We will see soon if they go higher than 6538 which i think they will. 6531 is already in service for Coach usa.

  3. Finally saw 2 of the Coach USA NABIs. One of them was 6534, but I didn't catch the other ones number since it was going too fast. I gotta say they look pretty good without the dark blue underneath the paint.

Let us know if you see a number higher than 6538 that is the last bus of the order. Unless they added on to it.

  4. They were all on hold, originally, the NABIs that were sitting at the Meadowlands lot were supposed to be used for the Super Bowl Shuttle (in conjunction with some of the RTSs and some MCIs), but all of that changed.

So thats what happened to them. Ok so coach usa should be getting their Nabi's soon. I guess Broadway got all of theirs if not they are only a few short.

  5. Well, word is that the rest of the NABIs will be coming in very shortly in a matter of days. The rest of the RTSs will be kaput very soon. They had them running on the Harmon Meadow/Meadowlands Shuttle.

Get your shots while you can. I managed to get 2552 on Roach USA(that was not a typo) 24A today.

Why did the order stop for 2 months since Broadway got their Nabi's ? They were coming in fast and furious until 6490's.  Still need up to 6538 anyway to finish the order.

  6. That is strange because 6503 was seen by a member here a few months ago waiting to go in service at Coach Usa. What the hell has happened to the last 47 buses or so?  The highest number I heard in service was 6491 at Broadway bus in Bayonne.

I just saw 5755 back in service on the 40. The same route it was on when it hit head on with that ford passenger van when its driver died of a heart attack.

  7.

Funny you should mention that. I just got to making my own roster on Excel for figuring that crazy ass scheme out, took me about 2 hours.

I'm gonna post the excel roster, though, for some clarity. I'm pretty sure that some numbers are very off and that I might have gotten the wrong model. Some of the buses I think are retired by now, but anyway, this should make it easier. I used both the TTMG roster and the cptdb wiki roster as sources:

Wow you put some work in to that nice. Maybe next batches will be simple to post. 1000-1600 will be free soon and all 2000 3000 and 4000's will be free by then too. 3000 and 4000's would be perfect for new cruisers when the time comes.

  8. According to MyBus, 7213 is on the 67, en route to Lakewood. It just left Penn Station

Well whoever gets the next big order of 1500 cruisers I hope NJT will make the numbering simple. Because right now who can make sense of the MCI numbering they are all over the place. 40 footers and 45 footers mixed from 7000's into 9000's . Maybe 1000's for 40ft or 3000's for 45 ft buses. Unless they only get 45 ft buses.
