  2. Im so glad I got pictures of the two at Rock Pk back in August... definitely good timing, seeing as they got slammed by Sandy just a few months later. I am curious, though, what now will they use as school cars?

There is no such thing as the school car program anymore if I heard correctly; the program stopped in 2011-2012.

  3. Lets just say I know these things. LGA is tight on maint space.

Soon enough you will get another refute... people are saying stuff on chat bout you lol, though I'm just remaining neutral about the whole thing....

AAANYWAY, how are the Orion 5 CNGs and ex-Bee Line Orion 5s holding up? Any recent retirements as of late?

  4. Wow, so we cud have been seeing a R42 (B) or (Q) then... interesting plan they had.

Anyone know what happened to other R33WFs, R40s 4162-4163 (Concourse school cars), R40As 4392-4393 (Rockaway Pk. school cars), and R40As 4442-4443 (Concourse school cars), since non-R44 equipment is now being scrapped.

  5. Not saying I'm totally right, but let me clarify some stuff:

1.) 3352-3353 are NOT in service... Phase-2 R32s have since been retired and disposed of, with the exception of 3350-3353, which are preserved and on-property.

2.) The mothballed R32s were actually stripped on the outside since 2011-2012, so scrapping those units makes sense. As for R32s 3720-3721, I have no knowledge on them except that they are OOS at Coney, so a reactivation of those 2 cars is possible. The mothballed R42s were also marked "NOT OK FOR SERVICE" according to a reliable source, just in case those cars were actually crumbling down too. I also do agree that the mothballed units have encountered serious floods from Irene and Sandy, so that could be a factor too. So saving the OOS R32s would have been impossible anyway, although those R42s could have been saved (10 mothballed R42s remain as of now, so those COULD be very slight possibilities).

  6. From the TOMC, The TA worker said that the (M) would be extended to Essex St on weekend due to ridership growth.

Wow, this sounds nice! The only problem I see, however, is the lack of layup tracks west of Essex (the closest are at Chambers St. (J) , or they could relay in the Chrystie St. Tunnel... idk)

  7. All were 6000 series Orion V's. And I wasn't saying that they are all getting scrapped early (although they do have the potential, give the particular effected area). They all got soaked with that salt water and had several multiplex modules starting to rot (rust/corrode) from the inside, out.

Wow, damn... hope the MTA fixes the Sandy Orion 5s, but if they don't, do notify us with more helpful info man!
