  1. The power to that line was lost years ago.... or was it? You laugh, you lose:
  2. Now I remember why the S79s always use the lower deck of the bridge... it dumps you right onto that exit onto Hylan Boulevard...
  3. For the record, the N16's "normal" terminal at Silver Lake is two blocks away from Merrick Road... the N35's stop at Merrick is right there, too. That blast down Hempstead Avenue in RVC is fun, but there are quite a few schools the closer you get to the station.
  4. I live a stone's throw from the N2 and I can safely say I have never seen any more than five people on that route at any one time, and the N8 doesn't get much ridership along Dutch Broadway anyway considering almost everyone in Elmont drives or knows someone that does. That ride along the city-county border must be fun, though.
  5. Aaaaaanyway.. Ranch BLT, crispy, with two Snack Wraps on the side. Been craving this since the start of the semester but haven't been able to get to McDonald's in a while.
  6. On the other hand, if the panels on the buses you ride yield to your touch like they do on the NG CNGs, then you can comment on the craftsmanship...
  7. You really think he cares about anyone that's stepped foot on a bus here? Please...
  8. Cheaply made, maybe, but not being able to fit in the seats is not a reason for you to be mad. Why can't you be happy that your bus even showed up?
  9. And Vittorio never shuts up when the bus operator of his MCI misses his stop by four inches and scuffs his $200000 shoes after he dashes his foot against the curb.
  10. So much for their promises... Mangano's genius idea is building up towards a horrible backfire.
  11. NICE try, I like the Orion Vs and VIIs out here . Hell, even an Orion V with a 22-year-old design is curvier than those towers with wheels you idolize. Also, the buses out here are the same as the Orions on SI, only they have CNG tanks mounted on top and I think they look quite nice with the CNG tanks on. Too bad tall people can't fit in those oh so dreadful Prevost seats, and the will have those rolling in until that next 300-of-the-same-fiiing-bus order comes in... in 2014-2016 or so.
  12. Yes, because every MCI in revenue in service is so vividly different from one another. Different taillights and headlights a different bus does not make.
  13. Getting all those buses ready for the DOT alone cost over $6 million... this guy is talking about "saving taxpayers money" and he burned through that much in under two months. Never mind that I have to see that jackass' name on every bus, as if he was some sort of king. I'd tell him to put his money where his mouth is but the crap coming out of his mouth with this and the district rezoning makes that hard.
  14. I've grown to like even the first hundred buses of the NG CNG order, but the one thing I've never figured out is why the engine idles so rough that the entire bus vibrates, then I hear the air brake release and it calms down. This always happens after coming to a stop, and even when the bus is turned on.
  15. Something would have to be fatally wrong for the N16 to take two hours to reach Hempstead. All my transfers are done well within that 78 minute limit... oddly enough this never happened while it was still LIB.
  16. While I'm here, let me ask the bus operators something considering NICE is still using fareboxes. Say my MetroCard has $4.50 when I get on a bus out of NCC, and when I transfer to an N6 or N32, the farebox either says "$2.25 Paid / $2.25 Remaining" as if somehow I didn't get a transfer but it still deducted the fare. Then on the N25, it'll say "1 Xfer OK / $2.25 remaining." Is this supposed to happen?
  17. This isn't kinder-friggin-garten, it's a forum... and I don't see "forum moderator" under your name. Nothing's pleasant about a governor that's subtly hostile to his own state's transportation agency, the economy not recovering at all but the government thinks two people getting hired is "progress;" some bull that is! since 2008, more people offing themselves in the subway, service cuts, management having their heads up their collective ass(es) farther than usual, a weak currency, inflation, high gas prices, and everyone being in debt, and no political correctness or making it "kid-friendly," so to speak, will make it any better than it is now. So can the meta-moderating.
  18. So if I wanted to get from JFK to Jamaica I'd have to pay $30? And then the pilot will somehow divert from the route when there's nothing in the air?
  19. The one NYCT Orion V diesel I rode was great. The only problem was I was soaking wet from standing in the pouring rain for 20 minutes and the bus got packed when it got to St. John's. Maybe I just got lucky... and the same has been with every RTS I've been on. Maybe my next excursion won't be so lucky.
  20. For some reason my wi-fi keeps going down only to come back up from anywhere between thirty seconds and thirty minutes. This has been going on since last weekend, when the rain subsided only to give way to 35-40 MPH wind gusts and it's pissing me off, especially when I'm on my XBox and talking with family. I'm just glad I haven't played any multiplayer games while this has been going on.
  21. They're actually nice to ride, but the aesthetics (seats, the interior and exterior), crap seats, and annoying, robotic announcements bug the crap out of me. Never mind that for some reason I don't like listening to my iPod on the subway like I do the bus, so I have to put up with noise even more. There's also that annoying propulsion. I don't mind the 160A as much because I like the sound the doors make when they open.
