  1. 9849 is so very not dead. Q65 this morning, Q25/Q34 this afternoon.

Yet no one believed me when I said that "this is probably not the last run for this bus" on last Friday's fantrip.

Now watch it run the Q53 tomorrow. Tomorrow is actually the last day since that's when the  tanks expire.

  2. But why does it matter though? The (F) is fully local in Manhattan and Brooklyn anyway. I wouldn't care if the northbound (2) announcements in Brooklyn (and southbound in the Bronx) says "This is a Manhattan-bound (2) local train". It's just an announcement.

I've heard the (2) say that.

Speaking of the (2) , today I witnessed a sick customer at TSQ on the (2) . A (3) then appears on the downtown local track, of which I take to Penn Station and switch back to the express track. Behind that (3) , a (5) shows up with a (2) on the local track. Pretty interesting sight.

  3. This just in 1671-1680 Corona yard to Westchester yard.

Wow! Just saw this set yesterday. Of course something told me to snap a photo and I didn't listen.

I guess that means one of the converted sets will see service soon. Also any word on 7888-7898?

  4. Just got off an R46 F with side LCDs as the M via Sea Beach and the rollsign as the (K). Got photos, up later.

I saw that train at West 4 Street and had everyone staring at me when I exclaimed "WTF?!?!!"

My only guess is someone broke into the cab and changed the sign...

  5. Today there were a lot of R46 on the (R) . The derailment set (5742-5743-5745-5744) is still between Queens Plaza and 36 Street. There is also an R46 in Concourse yard (6080).

Why is it that every time a new train model comes out, the railfans always praise the company who built the trains for "their" great design? Isn't it the designers within the customer's company that well, come up with the design?

Since the designers work for the company, they are part of the company so technically they did come up with the design. The general company itself may not have come up with it, but people who work for them did and they are the ones who built it.

  6. 7881-7885 is in service. Saw it on a <7> this morning. Not sure what it was linked up to.

Also 1961-1962-1963-1964-1965 are hooked up in consecutive order on the South end of a (7) train. 1961 has a full cab. They are NOT linked but coupled.

  7. Went over the derailment site on a Manhattan bound (F) today (of course it was an R160). The tracks sound strange; it's like there are 6 separate third rail sections at that spot.

Also saw the R32 set that was on the (R) . 3405 really does howl loud.

  8. Could you make (MTA) Service Changes Docs./Posters? Possibly but it might be illegal?

Sure, as long as you don't print them out and post them in the subway.

Then again, people don't tend to pay attention to the signs anyway

Passed by Fulton Street today, and saw about 20 people waiting for the (J) .

"The next Manhattan bound J train will arrive in approxamently 1,911 minutes."

  9. Last chance to get 88 Street and 104 Street before they are closed for renovation:
