  1. What's wrong with this sign?

    ServiceStatusFail_zpsd085a846.jpg

The crew probably put in an (A) line program from starting out in the Rockaways.

The 143s probably don't have an (A) via the (L) line program. Also the C/R changed it to the regular (L) line program shorty after the doors opened, so you wouldn't have heard the announcements anyway.

That was an (L) train at East 105 Street. The sign was simply changed to (A). I've seen R143 display (A) before in ENY Yard.

  2. If you don't mind:

    R46 Exterior:

    (C) To Euclid Ave

    (C) via DELANLEY St (Yes, spell it that way)

    (C) 8th Ave LCL

    (C) Fulton LCL

    R142 Sign:

    (S) 42 Street Shuttle

    (S) The Next Stop Is

    (S) Grand Central

    (S) 11:52 AM

    R142 Sign:

    (5) To Flatbush Av

    (5) via 7th Ave Line

    (5) The Next Stop Is

    (5) Penn-Station 34 St

    (5) 11:52 AM

    A R142 sign:

    (9) Van Cortlandt Pk

    (9) via Skip-Stop

    (9) The Next Stop Is

    (9) 238 Street

    (9) 11:53 AM

And last but not least a R143:

    (C) To Chambers Street

    (C) via Nassu Street Line

    (C) The Next Stop Is

    (C) Marcy Ave

    (C) 12:11 PM.

    Thanks!

You got it! I'm going to have to find that R46 template though.

  3. It actually has little to do with that. Otherwise, the 1 would've received 142s when the new platform at South Ferry opened. The 1 and 3 never received new tech trains because they weren't needed on those lines. When the new cars started arriving in 2000, both the 1 and 3 were using the relatively new 62As while the busier 2, 4, 5 and 6 lines were stuck with the aging redbirds. That little detail still holds true today with the 2 being a more demanding line than the 1 and 3. The Lex needs no explanation why it deserves NTTs. The only reason why the 6 is losing its newer cars is out of sheer necessity.

When it comes time to replace the 62s and 62As, then and only then will you see new trains on the 1 and 3 lines regularly. That will also probably apply to the 68s and the D.

Then why does the (2) skip 145 Street when rerouted to 148 Street?

  4. These are pretty good. I may start working on those LED signs again.

Alright, so since im a Graphic Designer, I thought I could bring my talent here. So, the only requestable sign at the Moment is R188 Signs , R160 Signs, and R142 signs. Please note: The font for the R188 , R142 and R160 signs is not mine, so the credit goes to the author!

    Signs you can request:

    R188:

    R142 & R160.

(Sorry if this one is to fast)

    Hope you like this!

I made that font years ago haha.

  5. 7906 and 7907, along with their conversion sets are in service. I rode 7906 last Thursday on the <7> , and saw 7907 today. Interesting to note that the set with 7907 was not in regular formation; The new C-car (7907) was towards the middle and 7296 was the North motor. I didn't get to see what was connected to that set as I only saw it on the Corona Yard lead.

(Sorry, taken with phone. I forgot my SD Card at home).

  6. Quick question:

What is that 'screech' sound at 0:05 and pretty much from 0:12 to 0:25 and what causes it? I've noticed that these sounds are particularly made by the 2011-13 C40lfs

That's literally downstairs from me... Weird since I never remember seeing 230 on the Q38. Did ride 801 on there though.

  7. Either 8788-8792 is at Jamaica or an (N) or (Q) got rerouted via Queens Blvd today because when I got down the steps at Roosevelt today there was an R160 (F) on the local track and it was 8790. Not sure what set was in the front. I checked the next few (F) trains going by and they were all Jamaica sets. Seems strange an 87xx set would be at Jamaica.

  8. I just saw that today and a few days ago. And mentioned it in the unplanned service change discussion?

    Perhaps R46 SMS?

That explains it. Jamaica, along with Pitkin, are having their R46 go through SMS right now. Jamaica has only had about 4 or 5 sets go through SMS at this time, so it should be there for a while.

  9. Now the (E) will go to 179 next weekend. With shuttle trains operating between Jamaica Center and Union Turnpike...I wonder if the finds will be updated

The FINDs are updated. I think they did that a few months ago after realizing none of the (E) to 179 Street during rush hour go express past 71 Avenue.

Any news on when the (R) will be restored? I hear that R46 will be off the (F) completely when it does get restored.

  10. Just a reminder: the peak load point on northbound (A) and (D) trains in the PM Rush is Columbus Circle. It's hard to find a seat during rush hour on any line at the peak load point and/or near the peak load point. You were better off just taking the first (A) that showed up and avoiding any delays in the process. I'm quite sure that the (A) you've finally boarded was loaded to the gills.

Nope. The (A) behind the (A) that was 20 minutes late was actually quite empty. It's not hard finding a seat on the North end of the (A) .

  11. The (A) was a mess today. I was waiting at Penn Station for an uptown (A) and let a few pass since I wanted a seat. Next thing I know "After an earlier incident, (A) trains are running with delays. The next 207 Street bound (A) train is at least 20 minutes away". At that point I got pissed (I couldn't take the (C) since I had to go to 207 Street). I got to the platform at 5:30 PM and got on the train at 6:27 PM.

This isn't the first time this is happened too. About a week ago I missed an uptown (A) at Penn Station and then hear there are delays in uptown (A) and (C) service (due to a stalled train at Canal Street). I go to take the (E) to 7 Avenue/53 Street for the (B) or (D) , and then find out there are delays in uptown (B) and (D) service as well. The MTA really needs to stop screwing me over when I take the (A) .

Speaking of the (A) line, they grinded the rails on the SB Express track from 125 Street to around 103 Street. It now makes that whining noise. I guess they are doing this to rails to have better traction (not too sure how this works).

Quick question: Does anyone know when the next pick starts for the subway? I heard the R68/A and R32 (A) are only for this pick. I better get a full length video before it's gone.
