  1. Is there any way we could post photos on the Gallery?

  2. On the limited plan for the Q23, I agree with you somewhat on that, but would the current scheduling allow it? You have to keep in mind that the Q23 has a major problem in regards to bunching- it bunches a lot due to traffic (and people not having the fares ready) on Austin Street (where people have the annoying habit of double parking there, plus it's a major commercial street) and when it turns into 108 Street to hit the Forest Hills-71 Ave Station. Short turning buses would not work because the reasons mentioned above. On the Q29/Q49: 37 Ave has the same problem as Roosevelt: it is heavily trafficked, too narrow, and people double park there too much to allow any buses who might travel through three to go with speed- and thus, cause bunching. Leave it as is.
  3. Some Points: Don't like the Q23 idea fro two reasons: one, I use it everyday to get to school (Forest Hills High School), so I get a feel on how the route operates in that section. An "express" section between the 71st Ave Stop & the L.I.E. is not feasible b/c that's where most of the riders come from- that, and people wanting to get to the train from North Corona/East Elmhurst and parts of South Corona. Having a run that would completely skip the busiest stops on the route (besides Queens Blvd/71st Ave), such as 67 Ave, 65 Road/Ave, and 63 Road would diminish ridership because the people who get off at Queens Blvd to catch the often at times, get on at those stops. Also, how would I get to school if my stop is skipped? On the Q29/Q49 Merger thought, the traffic on Roosevelt Ave (that street is terrible in terms of traffic, and that fact that's it narrow doesn't help either, that's the main problem on the Q32/Q33 as well) would probably make that idea hard to sell. Thank you! That is what I was going to propose. I live on Northern Blvd so I rely on the Q66 for service and it is slow. Service is erratic at best, and it does have to cover a long route from Queens Plaza, a very busy transportation hub to where it provides connections to 10 different bus routes, direct and indirect connections to 7 different subway lines, to another extremely busy transportation hub, Flushing-Main Street, in which it provides connections to 23 different bus routes, the IRT Flushing Line and the Long Island Railroad’s Port Washington’s Branch. These suggestions that I present in this post are not just meant to improve service on the Q66 route, but to improve connections on this busy important route, and to provide better options for those wishing better and faster commutes around Queens. convert some of the runs of the Q66 into Limited Bus runs, proving faster, reliable service to commuters. The line intersects with many important bus lines, and some of them are routes that serve LaGuardia Airport, while others run to areas such as Forest Hills, Astoria and Sunnyside. As such, here are the stops to which I propose there should be Limited Stop Service as well as their reasons. LTD Service would really help out the Q66. That, and better dispatching (the bus bunches alot!).I would have the LTD Stops located differently though, and those stops are.... -Queens Plaza (Terminal)- Connections to the Q32, Q39, Q60, Q67, Q69, Q100, Q101, Q102, B62, as well as the and the & lines at the Queensboro Plaza and the & ® lines at Queens Plaza. -21st Street & 41st Avenue- Connections to the Q69 & Q100 and the line at the 21st Street-Queensbridge subway station. -21st Street & 35th Avenue -35th Avenue & 31st Street- Connections to the Q102 and the & lines at 36th Avenue. -35th Avenue & Steinway Street- Connections to the Q101 and the & ® trains at the Steinway Street Station at Steinway and 34th Avenue/Broadway. -Northern Blvd & 48th Street- Connections to the Q104, and improved service to the shopping center at 48th Street. -Northern Blvd & Broadway- Connections to the Q18 and the & ® lines at the Northern Blvd Station. -Northern Blvd & 72nd/74th Streets- Connection to the Q47 for either the Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Ave Transit Complex or the Marine Air Terminal at LaGuardia Airport. -Northern Blvd & 82nd Streets- Connections to the Q32 to Midtown-Penn Station and the Q33 for either the Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Ave Transit Complex or LaGuardia Airport-Central Terminal. -Northern Blvd & 89th/90th Streets- Connection to the Q49 for either the Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Ave Transit Complex or East Elmhurst. -Northern Blvd & Junction Blvd- Connection to the Q72 for LaGuardia Airport-Central Terminal or 63rd Drive-Rego Park. -Northern Blvd & 102/103 Streets- Connection to the Q23 for East Elmhurst or Forest Hills. -Northern Blvd & 108th Street- Connection to the Q48 for LaGuardia Airport -And all local stops to Flushing-Main Street. There should also be Bus Turn Priority for buses turning left from northbound 21st St to westbound 41st Av and southbound 21st St to eastbound Queens Blvd, as well putting some Bus Lanes on Northern as well, as that would also help out the QM2,QM3, & QM20. Also, why not extend the Q32 to run on Northern? I see a lot of Q32 buses who are done with their runs turn on 81st into Northern and then go to Stengel Depot at 126th. I would extend the Q32 after Northern-81 St to Citi Field via Northern or at least to 114th St/Northern Blvd. That way, it could still reach CS deport, but at the same time, improve service along Northern Blvd. It would add some service on the (Q66) and cut down on the frustration on the riders on the line, when during Rush Hours we see like at least 3 or 4 Not in Service Q32 buses zoom past Northern until a (Q66) finally comes.
  4. And besides, the R62A's have the RFW on one side of the train, and having it it back on the (especially while riding the City Hall Loop and the express section in the Bronx) would be a boon to railfanners. ;-) But seriously, the R62A's aren't run down, they're just as inviting as the R142A's. And you know what's a real smack in the face, chrisliz09? Hatin' on the MTA just because the , with all it's riders & tourists, are getting some "run-down" cars, in your words, while the is getting the cars it needs to operate service. It's not what you want, it's what the service needs dictate.
  5. Brooklyn Tech is a good school, but I like said before, try agian next year. Hit up the review books and study (you might want to start now and continue over the summer), and hopefully, your score might go up.

And boy, those schools sound rough. But hey, be different from those other kids. Work hard, impress your teachers, and get good grades, and you'll do alright. As long as you do those three and you start looking independently for things to do outside of school (such as internships, community service, extra help, etc), you'll be alright heading to college. :)

  6. Yeah, I have a mom just like that too, lol. Good thing I applied to Forest Hills H.S., b/c my zoned school (Flushing H.S.) is crap...you know, you can always appeal your decision, even though your chances of winning are slim, but it's worth a shot.

If your grades are good this year, and you get good scores on your ELA/Math exams this year, apply again in freshmen year. And retake the SHSAT as well. Also, what Specialized High Schools did you apply to?

  7. I saw about your debacle of the SHSAT (at the chatbox), and I feel you: I'm a H.S. sophomore, so I know how it feels, as I been there, done that. But hey, don't worry: you still don't know what your regular application results are! And if you're not satisfied, well, you can always appeal. What schools (both Specialized and regular) did you apply to, BTW?

Happy (belated) Birthday as well. :)

  8. What's happening at Queensboro Plaza? There are no trains at all and all trains are skipping the station: and the people here are pissed. What's happening?
  9. It doesn't matter if people got used to them, it's the logistics that matters. This move has been planned for a long time, and don't jump to conclusions- we still don't know where the plans to move the R62A's once the converted R142/R188's start to be put in service on the The only reason you see the or the brought up here is because those are the two optimal destinations for the R62A's- they don't have a large amount of termini, so it's less labor to change the rollsigns- and they can use the LED's. People are just going to have to start listening to the announcements, whether they like it or not, and be aware of their surroundings-it's just the way it is.
  10. Hey Matt, can you please make me an entry sign that reads Atlantic Ave-Pacific St ((D)(T)LIRR OR Entry- (T)LIRR Thanks!
  11. This article might intrest you, as it states that "there is broad dissatisfaction with our two-party system, and a strong desire for an independent candidate or candidates to run next year...."

    Link is available here.

  12. Happy Late Birthday! (sorry didn't know yesterday was your b-day, and I wasn't on yesterday, but oh well, Happy Birthday!)

  13. No problem. However, there are some zoned schools that really don't work, but like you said, the city better fix 'em, and it's up to the student to work hard and do well, with the help of their teachers of course.

  14. Trains run in two segments- Between 8th Ave & Myrtle Ave & between Livonia Ave & Canarsie–Rockaway Parkway. Shuttle bus services stations between Myrtle & Livonia. Free OOS transfer to the at Livonia Ave for service to Manhattan. Trains run in two segments- Between Broad Streets & Myrtle Ave, and between Crescent Street and Jamaica Center. Free shuttle buses replace the line between Myrtle Ave & Crescent Street. Train service is suspended. Trains are extended to Essex Street late nights and weekends until further notice (due to Myrtle no longer being available as terminal due those times b/c of the terminating there.)
  15. Good post on that thread regarding NYC DOE Schools. Made really good sense, and I agree with you on most aspects.

  16. Happy Birthday Gordon, aka 4P3607!

  17. Well, I can get a couple morals from the story-

One: Never look away or show kindness in a boxing match,

Two: Not a good idea if you are in bar with some ol' friends watching a fight, especially if it ende the way this fight ended, and

Three: Especially not a good idea if you see a certain Italian dude in a bar who has a taste for exquisite beers and wines, and have a taxi (or an express bus b/o) on speed dial if I ever meet that certain Italinan dude in a bar...LOL ;):P

  18. And then you blacked out;)...still, the fight didn't deserve to end the way, call it payback, but I call it a disgraceful way to win

  19. Don't worry- Just telling us that were wasted beyond belief on the chatbox is enough to tell me no alcohol (at least for now). ;) Just saying. Still, the way the fight ended....for me, it was cheating. Good for the announcer to say to Mayweather "If I was 50 years younger, I would kick your @ss."

  20. Thanks! It sounds like Fujifilm is the choice by many, then. I was leaning toward it, and seeing the advice makes me want to buy it. However, I would like to see some more help in regards to this question, as I want to be sure before buying it. Thanks for the advice, though!
  21. I am looking for a new camera after my old one got damaged. It was an old camera, with just 8 MP, but it served me long and well. Now, I'm ready for an upgrade. I am considering two cameras, both on Amazon- a GE Power Pro X500-BK 16 MP with 15 x Optical Zoom Digital Camera, Black, with a 15x optical zoom, 3200 ISO, an electronic view finder, and more. The cost: $139.95. The other camera I am considering is a Fujifilm FinePix S2950 14 MP Digital Camera with Fujinon 18x Wide Angle Optical Zoom Lens and 3-Inch LCD. In can capture a 720p HD Movie, Motion Panorama shooting mode, and Dual image stabilization, and more. The cost: $160 Please help! I have $100 saved, and I'm looking for advice so know what to but, and when I do but, I feel that it was smart choice. I'm kinda leaning to the Fujifilm camera, but that GE camera looks interesting too (16 MP!). Here are the links- http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004HO58NO/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B004WKKOFK&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=04CRRJ9H61TM3Z9SJYSR (Fujifilm) http://www.amazon.com/Power-X500-BK-Optical-Digital-Camera/dp/B004LB4SAM/ref=pd_cp_p_3 (GE)
  22. Can I please request a Titan Bus Sign for an express bus route....the QM11, possibly? If it could state QM11 Downtown Loop QM11 via Water via Church. Thanks!
