  2. No, not a CTT measure, but a 12-9 at Nassau St. Find it strange though that the is being rerouted down the though....

It's made NATIONAL news, which is what really amuses me. And administration's half-ass respons isn't helping matters either...

  5. B/c of the impending blizzard headed our way, are G.O.'s cancelled for this weekend, and if so, even the G.O.? I'm asking b/c the Q66 detour the TA often puts in to accommodate the weekend work has been cancelled, which leads me to believe that there is a chance that the G.O. is cancelled....
  6. EDIT: OOPS, sorry, wrong thread. Meant to put this in the Random thoughts thread...

Thanks, GC. Gotta say, Jewish weddings and their parties are something unique...

  10. Alright, lemme try. But don't lynch me if I make a mistake.... Depends. LL or UL? If it's on the LL, here I go.... trains rerouted on the local track between 42nd and 125th. Trains rerouted via from Nevins to 149-GC/149-3rd Ave. If TPH is at capacity at 7th Ave, train runs between Dyre and 180th. Train service operates normally, however w/ delays. UL... Trains run normal service Trains - See above trains - express between 42nd and 125th. Can't single track in the tube, so service is suspended between TSQ and QBP. Extend service to Astoria, Exp suspended. Cross honor between Penn/LIC/Hunters and Woodside?

I got the sweater to wear it during this time for year...if the collection is still around in the spring, I'll spring for a shirt.

IF its the hoodie, how thick is it? I was going to get one but I wanna know how warm and thick it is. It doesn't look all that thick.

    4. IntExp

      IntExp

It's not very thick, but it's not fine either. It's alright, I guess - it'll keep you warm during low 60's, 50's or maybe even 40 degree weather, but not thick enough to keep you warm during 30 degree weather, like today.

  14. http://youtu.be/efqJcd_0rPk I honestly cannot be the only one who listens to this whenever she/he is on the IRT, especially on the IRT West Side....catchy, to say in the least! (Or has this song in their heads in the same situation) Watch the closing doors!

And you're helping out with Sandy recovery. Doesn't it make you feel warm and fuzzy inside?

I think it's great when you are able to practice your hobby and contribute to a good cause at the same time.

    4. IntExp

      IntExp

Exactly, it's the best of both worlds, espically in this time of year. @Threxx- yeah, it does make me feel warm and fuzzy, even more so in this frigid weather! (I'm outside, now). @ttc- I got a pin as well, and yeah, I'll probably rock it in school and in my transit-related excursions from time to time. It does feel great, taking your hobby and knowing that you at least made a token contributon at the same time.

  16. Got my PSAT Scores today....66 (CR), 51 (M), and 59 (W), respectively...adding up to a 176. Alright, I guess. Grades, however, are a completely different story.

    1. peacemak3r

      peacemak3r

Is that how SAT scores are scored now-a-days?

    2. IntExp

      IntExp

Nah, they're still scored on 2400 range. The PSAT is sorta of a "practice SAT," but it is used for scholarships - it's much smaller then the actual SAT, hence why the call it the 'P'SAT.

  17. Your give and take! & the can be fast when they want to, cut 'em some slack...LIRR may have some truth in that, but still beats the subway to Manhattan. Yep, Fieldston, I walked in there once (long story, can explain it if you wish) - and boy, is it elegant!. I often go to the Gardens to walk around there, reflect, and often dream - dream about hopefully living there one day.
  18. Well, they have the LIRR. And the QM12 (which runs on the outer fringes of the Gardens, since the streets are privately owned.), which, (sorry!), runs weekdays only. All else fails, you have, the ~gasp~ subway at Forest Hills-71st Ave.
  19. Yes it is....Forest Hills Gardens, to be exact. It is one of my favorite areas in all of Queens, because it is so tranquil...for a minute, it kinda feels like, ~gasp~ a model of a leafy suburb in the city, yet close to public transportation. Crossing the LIRR trestle over 71/Continental can sure mark a line in which there are polar opposites on each sides.
  20. @Foxie- Love that iMac! This is my iMac, with the background pic taken by yours truly. This is how the desktop looks with Mission Control Activated.
  21. LOL at this section of an article on the NYT Now, I wonder who those buffs are.... (I know the article probably belongs in the Sandy thread, but this section just asked to be posted on this OT thread! The rest, is of course, in the Sandy thread.) http://www.nytimes.c...ml?ref=nyregion
