  1. 1. Yes I have, I even rode a few on the B36 when Ulmer Park had them between 2008-2011. And its funny you say this, because express buses are still used on the local lines in Staten Island and clearly they arent messing the buses up because they still allow it (although I don't support that). But the thing you're missing is, we're not talking about mixing up the express fleet and local fleet and using them interchangeably to make service. We're talking about using the same type of bus model for both local and express service while still providing the premium amenities found in the current express fleet of coach buses. For Staten Island...you can have the same Nova LFS buses running on the local routes, and you can have articulated LFS for the express buses so depots can maintain the same type of bus, but obviously there would be an express fleet, and a local fleet, not mixing up. 2. Actually you can...the R44s are a prime example of that. A train is a train LMAO...just a long as they are spec'd to commuter rail line requirements you're good to go. They could've easily made the M9 a LIRR version of the R160...just like how they did with the R44 and the M3...so that point is invalid. 3. This actually supports my whole point...airlines use the same plane and provide different amenities for their different services as needed. You don't see airlines with a certain flights strictly for business only, then another flight strictly for economy. That's like Delta using 757s for strictly business and 737s for strictly economy. It would be a complete waste of money. They have each plane consist of first, business, economy, depending on the plane... Nobody is trying to downgrade express service. All I'm saying is, a bus is a bus, and you can easily make a regular transit bus designed for highway/express service. Our express buses don't even use the highway as much as NJT does. Staten Island has the longest stretches and still there are NJT XD60s running highway routes with the same distance to NYC as MTA express buses, and those buses do not even have the premium amenities. If the MTA had articulated local buses strictly dedicated for express service, and to NOT be used for both local and express... it would still provide the same level of commuter services. A bus is a bus. Tiered service is a tiered service. The level of comfort would be exactly the same (even better because the legroom wouldn't be an issue like they are on these Prevost). You can easily increase the 57 seat capacity on current express buses and increase seating to 70+ with an articulated bus (with better legroom). However, like I already mentioned, the only issue would be during winter months with snow operations, and obviously the longer buses with layover and spacing at bus stops/etc.
  2. The "premium service" amenities found in express coaches can be easily implemented into the current local buses models being ordered by the MTA. Had express buses used XD40s/XD60s, LFS/LFSA, you'd be able to implement the same recline/big comfy seats, with overhead heat, reading lights, charging ports, and tinted windows. The low floor concept would also make ADA accessibility MUCH MUCH easier and have less of an impact on the level of service inside the bus. Also would make maintenance MUCH easier across the board. Only issue is that only artics would have the best advantage for express service, as local buses would require more frequency to provide the same amount of seats. However, artics have issues with the snow so if the express fleet was all artic, winter months would be an issue. If they can implement technologies for artics to handle snow (like the XE60s apparently so far) then maybe would could see the MTA switch the express fleet to premium articulated low floor buses.
  3. None of it makes sense to me, but we'll see. Would've been better off leaving Belmont as the main station, and design crossovers in each direction to the outsides of the main line/West Hempstead 4 track series. That way you can have Atlantic Term/Penn shuttles via Jamaica. And Ronkonkoma, Port Jeff shuttles terminating at Belmont. There's enough space but politics comes first over logic and convenience.
  4. The station is only served by Hempstead trains for now. Once third track is implemented, Ronkonkoma/Port Jeff/Oyster Bay trains will be able to serve eastbound. They are gonna add a crossover at Floral Park on the westbound Hempstead track. That track will be bidirectional, so RON/PJ/OB trains would be able to serve Elmont, then crossover to the westbound Hempstead track, and then crossover to the mainline after floral park (construction is still going on).
  5. There's been verbal conflicts! That's the reason why I reached out to get it fixed because people take out their anger on the drivers thinking the drivers are making an error because the announcements clearly make it seem like those are stops the driver is deliberately passing by. That's why I'm really confused as to why so many drivers just allow it to continue to do that all these months/couple and not say nothing? Yes you can take a 7000 without announcements but drivers should have more pull to get that stuff fixed. The S86 was worse. It was a copy paste version of the S76, they actually listened to my request and now it makes only the limited stop announcements and not every local stop along the limited portion.
  6. Long story short. The S90 ran limited between St George and Park Ave up until 2006/2007. After...the limited was extended to South Ave, making stops at Nicholas Av, Van Name Ave, Harbor Rd, and South Ave. It's been this way since 2007. However, when BusTime came out, the pre 2007 S90 routing was posted, and was never fixed. Nobody really used BusTime before 2018 so it wasn't highly emphasized. It wasn't until the ADA screens came on the buses and started making all the incorrect stop announcements that it became annoying. The PDF schedules have reflected the S90 making limited stops to South Ave since 2012. I reached out to the BusTime team hoping they could have the S90 stops fixed, but they kept resisting saying the routing is for the S90 to make local stops after Park Av. I don't know if it's politics, union issues, or something but I'm not reaching out no more. Seems like they're going backwards and would try to change the physical stops and actually force drivers to make local stops after Park Av. It's already bad enough they added Lafayette as a S90 stop now.
  7. The MTA changed the S90 PDF schedule to reflect making all LOCAL stops after PARK AVE. Like how stupid can yall be? I wonder if they're gonna make DOT add S90 to the actual street stops. This agency is so dumb, I will go so hard when it's time for the redesign because they will NOT f**k that up.
  8. Turns out I have to allow the OMNY lettered side with the black and white stripes face the reader, when I tried it with the OMNY symbol facing me, it doesn't work.
  9. Can anyone explain why when I initially put my OMNY card against the reader it gives me an error message, then when I move back and place it again it works? It happens about 50% of the time, mainly on buses, not so much with the subway. When I used my card via my iPhone NFC, it always worked very quickly and never any error message at first attempt. I can't wait till they allow us to add OMNY to our phone wallet, because I most likely have a slowly responsive card or something. I prefer my phone's NFC over everything.
  10. The whole S40/90 corridor warrants SBS. Shiett they gave the B82 SBS the S40/90 can definitely use it. But...it doesn't even need SBS...its needs nonstop service. There needs to be a new route created. There was supposed to be a North Shore BRT route coming soon but who knows what the pandemic did to that. As of now, they need an S40 full time, S90 7 days a week, and an S90x during weekday rush hours. S90x would run between Matrix Park and the ferry. Stopping at the two stops within Matrix Park and the one at the ferry. This would run weekdays in the AM from 5am-9am, and then 3pm-7pm in the PM. The regular S90 would run as is but still also span its hours to meet the shift changes throughout the day. This would also expand into the weekends.
  11. They can relocate the existing buses and put them in other Ramps. Move the S42/S52 and put the S40/90 in the front of Ramp D, and keep a wide gap and put the S44/94 in the very back. Ramp B would have S51/81, S74/74, S76/86, S42/52. Ramp B has the capacity because its not restricted by the tower and parking spaces in Ramp A, and those routes aren't as heavy as the routes in Ramp C. Also the schedules work out best because the S81, S84, and S86 all leave first according to schedule so both 51/81 would not be loading up at the same time, compared to the 46/96 and 48/98 loading up at the same time, along with the 78. Another possible but inconvenient solution would be to have the S40/90 pick up stop relocated to Richmond Terrace & the Ferry Viaduct (right when you make the right turn onto Richmond Terrace.
  12. I just got quick mad because I hate looking like I cannot afford a bus fare. I don't understand how people can just walk on without paying. I seem so broke and poor. Also, I'd NEVER take my frustration out on drivers but I'll post about it to others about to see what the issue was (like I did with this post). Can you send the link or DM me to submit a claim? I don't even bother anymore because I've done it for BusTime and other issues and seems like something like that gets washed away.
  13. You wanna know what I truly hate? When bus drivers don't set the fare box correctly and I don't get my transfer. Paid $2.75 for the local, paid another $6.75 for the express. Shit like that make me wanna go off, don't try to scam me, a**hole. And I knew it was the farebox not programmed correctly because the announcements aren't working. Another reason to abolish the farebox.
  14. That traffic has nothing to do with the HOV lane as it is closed at the time. This is strictly the BQE lane reduction doing this...and today it's was extremely severe because they ended up shutting down the BQE between the Gowanus and Atlantic Ave because that straight section flooded out a bit. @Future ENY OP the Battery Tunnel doesn't flood all the time, only during super rainstorms. Regular car traffic was redirected to the tunnel today.
  15. This don't make no sense...these are the late morning off peak buses...SIM1C, SIM3C, SIM4C, and SIM33C. I only have data for SIM1C, SIM3C, and SIM33C. I forgot to check the SIM4C but its affected as well. SIM1C...there are 6 buses stuck on the highway between Staten Island-Manhattan. This screenshot was taken at 11:34am. The SIM1C runs about 10-15mins at this time...that means that the last bus in the screenshot was at Fingerboard around 11:30am according to schedule. If you do the math and work backwards, that trip started at Eltingville Transit Center at 10:35am, the bus before started at 10:20am, the bus before started at 10:07am, then 9:55am, then 9:45am, then 9:35am. The 9:35am bus is supposed to be in the city at 10:43am...so the first bus alone is over an hour late. At time of posting: 9:35am bus arrived at first Manhattan stop at 12:05pm...about 80mins late. SIM3C...four buses stuck on the highway. This screenshot was taken at 11:34am. The SIM3C runs about 30mins at this time...that means that the last bus in the screenshot was at Fingerboard around 11:32am (11:35am is the schedule timepoint). If you do the math and work backwards, that trip started in Port Richmond at 11am, the bus before at 10:30am, then 10am, then 9:35am. The 9:35am bus is supposed to be in the city at 10:39am...so the first bus alone is over an hour late. 9:35am bus arrived in the city at 11:50am...75mins late. SIM33C....four buses stuck on the highway. This screenshot was taken at 11:34am. The SIM33C runs about 20-30mins at this time...that means that the last bus in the screenshot was at Fingerboard around 11:34am (11:37am is the schedule time). If you do the math and work backwards, that trip started in Mariners Harbor at 10:45am, the bus before 10:15am, then 9:50am, then 9:30am. The 9:30am bus is supposed to be in the city at 10:49am...at the time of screenshot, almost an hour late. 9:30am bus didn't get to first stop in the city until 11:50am. About 80mins late. This is absolutely insane!!!!! And look at the Google Maps screenshot...shit is backed up all the way to the bridge...and who's the culprit? That damnn BQE lane reduction!
  16. "Please Move Away From The Doors!" I love seeing people get beat up with them doors, keeps them from being all up against them. Plug style doors only encourage people to stand right up against it like subway doors, and all you need is for people to start leaning against those doors and you'll have the interlock kick in and cause even more issues.
  17. Yeah it can definitely be numerous reasons...but...this ain't the first time. Kingsbridge had their entire fleet OOS for door issues as well a few months ago. It's definitely being talked heavily within the MTA, and that's why they were so quick to pull the entire fleet and they got buses stored in 126st. Obviously the MTA is gonna figure out a solution, a door issue is very small. I'm gonna still talk my shit until it's fixed. Changing the door spec is not the cheapest option but it's not completely disqualified.
  18. Sooo I see the LFS HEV are OOS due to those plug door issues. My OCD ass never liked them anyways, I like all doors closing the SAME way. Hopefully the design is too flawed that they need to install wide fast response inward opening doors on the whole fleet. #bringbackINWARDopeningdoors

  21. Yes, soon as the limit goes above $2.75, the card is automatically switched to "Active". I paid debit when I bought it. The clerk scanned the barcode, I said "I wanna add a minimum $1". Then it prompts you to select the amount on the screen, then press yes. Then on your receipt it shows $5 for the card, plus any extra funds you add on the metrocard. So anyone looking to get an OMNY card has to spend a minimum $6 to buy one. You can pay cash/debit and probably credit. I just tapped the screen with Apple Pay (using my debit card on my phone), and it worked with no problem.
  22. Thank you everyone! I just picked up an OMNY card today around 9pm at the 7/11 on Hylan/Seaview in Staten Island. It was on the gift card rack and there was about 12 of them on the rack. Paid $6 total, $5 for the card and $1 for the minimum amount added. I already had an OMNY account for a few months ago just to have one. I logged on and linked both my OMNY card and the bank card. I see there in indeed a $600 LIMIT!! (though I'd only add about $250 max). My card was indeed suspended because I was below the $2.75 minimum at only $1 on the card. My card is ready to go! Now I just need to use up these metrocards and be done with those old beat up fareboxes.
