  1. Since CS is getting LFS, they need to swap some 55xx LFSA from MJQ with CS overworked XD60s. Them LFSAs were doing great at CS. I love the XD60s but 5894-5934 were the business when they were at CS.
  2. He reminds me of how I think the general public will react in masses to these changes, lmaoo.
  3. Happy to announce that they fixed the S90 issues. BusTime is now updated with the correct stops. Lafayette Av in the ferry direction is missing but they'll probably fix that for the summer. They changed the Amazon stop from that random Franklin W. Gay/10th Av name to 5th St/Amazon Fulfillment Center. Also, when approaching the ferry (last stop), they announce which ramp the bus arrives at, "Next Stop....St George Ferry and Ramp D". They also show which ramp the first stop is located for each of the routes. I drove the route just now, the S90 plaques are still across the local stops (and it was such a choppy rushed incomplete job from Jan 2022). Hopefully those are changed quickly...I wonder if drivers have been notified about the stops?? Are they still running only limited between Park Av and the ferry or are they now running limited between South Av and the ferry? I wonder how long it would take to get all routes accurately up to date....a lot of issues throughout multiple routes haven't been updated in nearly a decade.
  4. Not sure why they can't all follow the same route. I also proposed having subway shuttles implemented onto BusTime, but it was deemed impossible. Of course...everything is impossible at the MTA. I miss that time frame, buses were hauling and service was surprisingly great. It was AFTER they stopped the free service that the service went downhill again.
  5. ALL these NGs with Clever Devices information screens and I haven't seen any existing buses 2014-15 XD40s, 2016-17 XD60s, getting screens installed. They aren't scrapping the screens with the buses, right? Someone go check Eastchester and see if the screens are still in the buses, LMAO.
  6. Just because we support platform doors doesn't mean we support the methodology in the way the MTA is going about it. Obviously it would make sense to install platform doors at stations that have been rehabbed and modernized to accommodate the doors. The focus is still infrastructure improvements, but this is the perfect time to implement future technologies so that when future modernizing takes place, platform doors will be in the drawing board. That's really the logic...they really think NYC is the only place with a subway system. They think other transit systems are daft about the issue, don't have fire codes, regulations or no type of enforcement. Its just a stubborn mindset, and its the exact reason why the MTA is the way it is today.
  7. About time. This is super long overdue. MTA, out of all cities, needs to secure their tracks and tunnels as best as possible. The PDF document detailing each station with the platform doors being feasible or not is absolute BS. They said only 128 out of the 472 stations are feasibile, but that number can legitimately rise to at least 321 over time. There are legit stations with columns that are too close to the edge of platform to install a door, and some stations are too narrow in certain parts for you to install the doors in that area. Every station in NYC can receive platform barriers of some sort. There are three types of barriers that can be used across the different MTA stations. 1. Full height platform doors. 2. Half height platform gates. 3. Vertical Rising Rope Barriers In a perfect MTA world, you'd install full height in as many stations as possible, but with the MTA let's just assume half height is the only option with their conductor operations. All underground stations and outdoor stations that are not elevated would receive platform gates as long as the columns are not too close to the end of the platform. All elevated structures without structural integrity issues can receive the lightweight vertical rising rope barriers. Here's videos of Paris metro, an old metro system like NYC that's stepping their game up. They use platform doors on the entirety of three lines now, two of which are fully automated. Here's Line 1 with the half height platform gates: Here's Line 14 with the full height platform doors : Now I'm curious, at stations like Newkirk Plaza on the , can you install platform gates in the cars #2-9 platform positions, and leave the car #1, car #10 platform area without a barrier? When Line 4 was getting its platform doors installed, there were various times where only half of the station had the doors up and trains were running normal operations, as seen below :
  8. I wasn't sure if a stop or two was removed along Arden or Huguenot after the SIM redesign, so I just said probably not and referred to only the Outerbridge Park & Ride since that was the only one I knew that received controversy, obviously Poillon was added back.
  9. He's talking about how BP had 1996 model RTS buses. Not a quantity of 96 total buses.
  10. BP had 9000 and 9006 that align with this current allotment. EC had 9034 that align with this current allotment. JFK/FR had 9037 that align with this current allotment. LGA had 9080-9082, 9085, 9094 and 9098 that align with this current allotment. Source: Check the MTA Bus Operations: Historical Fleet Rosters thread. 11. Probably not, they are not really needed. The only major concern was the Outerbridge Park n Ride for the SIM24...but honestly they just need to do an overhaul of the Huguenot Park n Ride by expanding it west of Huguenot, adding parking lines to ensure max capacity is being utilized, adding additional lighting, and limiting how long you can park your car there. They also need to expand the Eltingville Transit Center Park & Ride. And they need to turn the wooded rectangular area between Hylan Blvd/Steuben St and Narrows Rd South into a Park & Ride.
  12. 7am SIM23.....41 people Half an hour service from 5am-8am will definitely start by Fall 2022. The MTA taking over those routes was the best thing to happen as part of the SI "redesign".
  13. Whenever DOT does construction near a bus stop, they LOVE to remove the bus stop temporarily to avoid anyone boarding/exiting. When the construction is finished, they almost always forget to add the bus stops back to the area. It can go like that for months and it'll only get fixed if the MTA notices or if people report to the right sources. I'll let the right sources know and hopefully it's up within the next two weeks.
  14. NJT XD60 20910 is the most SOLID built Xcelsior I've ever witnessed. Not a single rattle can be heard, especially leave PABT. Listen to how this bus just EATS those potholes up starting at 1:15. So the build quality is there! VERY THERE. Its just not consistent. I was very very impressed. This video was from Aug 2021. I wonder how the bus is doing now.
  15. Just typical libtard b****ing. That area is full of them. "I'm begging and pleading"....ohh shut the heck up. These the same people that leave their cars running when they do their errands. Just a bunch of entitled hypocrites that think the world revolve around them. Their way or no way. Kick rocks.
  16. Sheesh......I don't have time to view the story on other links but praying no one was badly injured.
  17. Is 1588 at Meredith? I saw it running on the SIM30 yesterday morning but I couldn't track it. Maybe it was 1568?
  18. 9001-9012, 9017-9080, 9083-9092, 9097-9118, 9123-9124, 9131-9142. 9153-9154 (126 cars) are all in service. 9013-9016, 9081-9082, 9093-9096, 9119-9122, 9125-9130, and 9143-9152, 9155-9166 (40 cars) are still testing. 9167-9202 (36 cars) are still pending delivery. Not sure why 9013-14, 9081-82, 9093-96 are still testing.
  19. The option order Prevost 1607-1629 have the old seats and the same number of seats. They really botched the entire Prevost order. Not sure why all the buses didn't have the same specs as 1557-1586...those seats for whatever seem to be more spacious that the other ones.
  20. SIM23/SIM24 ridership is growing quickly. The first week buses were averaging 7-9 per trip. Two weeks later buses were averaging 15-18 per trip. A month later buses are average 24-27 per trip. 1607 was the 8am SIM24 today, currently has 28 people.
  21. I rode the diesels a lot between 2016-2020 when I was at Stony Brook. I rode the direct 5:54am direct DM (500 series) train to Penn 3 times a week, and rode the express in the PM. Weekends I rode the DE (400 series) whenever I either went home or to Jamaica. Never had an issue with them, except for the 4:18 express train leaving like 40mins late one time because of equipment issues. That train was ridiculously crowded, its when I learned to never activate my ticket until they actual come and check. So many times we had free rides because the train was just too crowded to maneuver through. They are just super slow and service on that branch sucked. Transferring at Huntington was annoying, especially when trains are packed with Stony Brook students who act like they're doing this commute for the first time every time. I hope things are smoother over there now with TrainTime available. For some reason when I used to use the Port Jeff branch, them trips were always so peaceful and quiet. You'd get lonely on those trains at times, and when I commuted rush hour AM to Penn, a super crowded train was peaceful and everyone was either sleep or relaxed. Now I use the Ronkonkoma branch 3 times a week and its so ghetto. Every time there's a least people talking super loud or someone playing their volume max on their phone, and its like all these annoying people get into the car that I'm in. The Babylon is the same way, but not as bad. But sheesh I see why people claim LIRR riders are trashy. I used to defend them until I rode the Ronkonkoma/Babylon. When I did strictly Port Jeff/Atlantic Term it was super classy compared to the subway. Anyways, back to the diesels. I love them, but I do wish they can go because they're so limited. Can't wait to hear how the battery-electric project turns out. Question...is the Montauk branch capable of doing 80mph? I'm referring to the area between Montauk-Babylon. Most trains go no faster than 55-65mph, so I'm curious is that because of the diesels or because the area is just geographically limited to that speed?
