R44 5278 Posted December 5, 2009 Share #1 Posted December 5, 2009 As I expected... Atlantic City rail service will reduce trains in winter By The Associated Press December 05, 2009, 2:58PM ATLANTIC CITY — With winter ridership low, a rail service that carries gamblers between New York City and Atlantic City on weekends will cut back the number of trains it runs from 18 to 11. The change is effective Dec. 18. The Atlantic City Express Service, or "ACES" for short, began running in February. Atlantic-City-Train.JPGMel Evans/The Associated PressA special New Jersey Transit train dubbed "ACES" leaves Atlantic City, Jan. 30. Three Atlantic City casinos and the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority pay NJ Transit to operate the service under a $3.8 million-a-year contract. Auggie Cipollini, senior vice president of operations for Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, said the casinos will decide in the spring whether to restore the service being cut. He said ridership was good during the summer but had tailed off since.

R44 5278 Posted December 5, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted December 5, 2009 Yes it does make sense, but I expected it to cut down to 6-8 trains actually with supplements on the holidays.
Nexis4Jersey Posted December 5, 2009 Share #4 Posted December 5, 2009 Not many people know , about the service , one of my friends goes down there alot and he didn't about it. They need to advertise more , make it also look sleek and nice. There website is nice , but they need to do the same on TV commercials which i have yet to see?

Forest Glen Posted December 6, 2009 Share #6 Posted December 6, 2009 They should axe this route altogether. I've never seen more than 20 people on an ACES train.

When I see the word Express printed on any transportation company I think this is a faster way to where I have to go. There is no point to this train, it take longer to get to AC than the bus. They just should have left it alone, it doesnt make sense to me.

Oh yeah, which is why I always take the Turnpike to Cherry Hill before heading east!
