Truckie Posted January 20, 2010 Share #26 Posted January 20, 2010 J.... Metro North Police don't exist anymore .... You know that and I know that but I doubt 90% of the people that go through GCT every day know that.

AgedPolaris Posted January 22, 2010 Share #28 Posted January 22, 2010 Collecting police patches is a completely different then wearing and displaying them on a jacket or shirt in a public place. What if a tourist who is not familiar with the local police uniform goes to that person wearing the patches expecting help because they believe he or she is an officer? I agree, it's a bad idea... but somewhat comically off-topic, I just find it funny when I get off work (wearing like semi-casual sh!t in a color scheme) and I run up to Pathmark to get some dinner at like 10:45pm half tired, and someone asks me for help. I'm just like... yeah, I do not work here. Tourist or not, people just assume you work there.
Pressed Steel Posted January 23, 2010 Share #29 Posted January 23, 2010 I would advise against wearing those patches on any transit property. imo. Agreed. I think they did you a favor and gave you good advice. I have heard of people getting arrested for that before.

Trainmaster5 Posted January 23, 2010 Share #31 Posted January 23, 2010 190.25/26 of the NYS Penal Law - Criminal Impersonation in the Second/First Degree. Exactly. No matter what your intent is it's impersonation and any law enforcement officer has the right to arrest you. You'd be hard pressed to convince a judge or jury in this day and time that your attempt at looking cool wasn't criminal.
