Are Patches Prohibited?

Collecting police patches is a completely different then wearing and displaying them on a jacket or shirt in a public place. What if a tourist who is not familiar with the local police uniform goes to that person wearing the patches expecting help because they believe he or she is an officer?

 

I agree, it's a bad idea...

 

but somewhat comically off-topic, I just find it funny when I get off work (wearing like semi-casual sh!t in a color scheme) and I run up to Pathmark to get some dinner at like 10:45pm half tired, and someone asks me for help.

 

I'm just like... yeah, I do not work here. Tourist or not, people just assume you work there.

Exactly. No matter what your intent is it's impersonation and any law enforcement officer has the right to arrest you. You'd be hard pressed to convince a judge or jury in this day and time that your attempt at looking cool wasn't criminal.
