I made a mad dash to get it, since it was the last ride that day for me.

Grand Concourse Posted February 2, 2010 Share #7 Posted February 2, 2010 Damn, nice catches! I never would've believed a slant ran with an R40m/42 if not for pics like these. I wished the C ran the slants longer - I never got a shot of a slant on the C

Grand Concourse Posted February 2, 2010 Share #11 Posted February 2, 2010 No, I meant a slant coupled to an R42 or R40M set. That's rare. Usually the slants only runs by themselves.
LRG Posted February 2, 2010 Share #12 Posted February 2, 2010 No, I meant a slant coupled to an R42 or R40M set. That's rare. Usually the slants only runs by themselves. Pitkin got in trouble because of the mixup from what I heard. Slants really are only supposed to run by themselves, while R40Ms and R42s can run together. Grand Concourse Posted February 3, 2010 Share #13 Posted February 3, 2010 I don't think there's anything wrong mechnaically, but they just choose not to run them in the same train. Probably the way the 'crossing b/w cars' is lined up or something. It would be nice to see it from that perspective.

SmallParkShuttle Posted February 3, 2010 Author Share #15 Posted February 3, 2010 It was two pairless cars that was paired after the 1995 Willy B crash. Actually, the two Willy B. cars that were paired were R40M 4460 and R42 4665, and they were "married" to each other, blind end to blind end, after their mates were damaged. Going between the cars wasn't an issue at all (I didn't walk all the way through, took a peek while we were waiting for clearance to enter Euclid. I know it's illegal now...) It was like crossing between Slants, just with half the "open space" feeling.
