Replacing Windows

I've noticed that they have replaced a lot of windows on the R32's, however, they have not put any sheets of mylar (the protective sheets that prevent the actual glass from getting vandalized) on them. On the newer cars, the 142's, 160's, mylar is present. Why not the older model cars?

The older cars are about to get replaced by the R160, so it might not be as cost effective to put the mylar screens on the older models.

The R160s are NOT replacing the R32.The R32 will most likely get retired by the R179.The R160s are only replacing the R40S CI R42 and maybe the R38.

you can't. the R179 is only a rumor. there is no proof that their gonna make a R179.

 

although it has been mentioned they want to make a 75ft version of the Kawasaki 160

I figure the is just too cheap to bother with it. As for the R179, I think 75' R160.

Mylar sheets aren't really necessary for trains that aren't going to be around for the long run. Plainly and simply. Surprises me abit, but it shouldn't since he MTA does too many different things all around.

The R160 base order is replacing all of the slants, all of the R38, 110 R42 (CI), and 10 R32 (GE). The base order is 660 cars, and the cars being replaced equal 620 cars, so the other 40 might go to increase service.

 

The first option calls for 620 cars, which would replace the other 290 R42 and 100 R40M. What? What will happen to the other 230 cars?

Are talking about the MK R42s?maybe they will last until 2010 or something...
