Worst Case Senerio!

NYCTNostalgia

Recommended Posts

I starting a transit related game called worst case senerio. It's basically a

"What would you do!" type of thing. This post is open to anyone who want's to play.

Let Me Start Off...

What would you do if the Manhattan Bridge collasped. How would you handle the subway lines (B)(D)(N)(Q)!

I would send the (N)(Q) via Lower Manhattan. The (B) and (D) trains would have to be cut back to 34 St-Herald Square. I'd also revive the <Q> to provide as a Brighton Express (after construction is done!)

Anybody feel free to comment! :P

(:P suspended

(Q)(N): Limited service, via tunnel

(D): via tunnel/Nassau (nonstop, then reverse via Willy B)

(S): This would mean the (S) would be double-tracked and fully-platformed, but (S) provides extra Brighton service. Brighton Beach to Franklin Av.

I got a new one:

Smoke condition at 42 St-Bryant Park. (B)(D)(F)(M)(7) affected.

PS This reminds me of the Delay Management Strategies thread. Merge?

(7)

Main St-Flushing / Queensboro Plaza

via Local/Express

No service at 42 St-Times Sq, 42 St-5 Av, or 42 St-Grand Central

(F)

Run via Broadway Exp after 63 St-Lexington Av

(D)

Run local between Norwood-205 St and 145 St

Local between Coney Island and 36 St

(M)

No Service between Forest Hills-71 Av & Broadway-Lafayette St

Use (F)(R) instead for local service.

(G)

Extended to Coney Island via Culver

NEW ONE!

A bomb went off at the Queensborough Plaza station. The following stations were affected:

Oh no! It'll be weeks until Queens Plaza is cleaned up! The (E)(M)(R) are affected! What would do!

So I would...

(E)(M) via 63 Street:

(E)-via (F) line to W 4 Street then to WTC

(M)-via 63 St

(R)-57 Street to Bay Ridge only! For Alt. Take (E)(F) or (M) at 34 St for Queens Blvd Service. (E)(F) Express ((E) Late Nights and Weekends Local)

and (M) Local (Weekdays).

(F)-Normal with some delays.

My take:

(:P to B'way-Lafayette (from the south)

(D) Section 1: 36th to CI

Section 2: 145 to 205th

(F) via the (E) from W4 to Roosevelt Av

(M) via Nassau

(7)<7> to Queensboro Plaza, shuttle from there to Grand Central.

2 problems.

1) How does the (F) run via the (E)? Queens Plaza is gone.

2) Queensboro Plaza is gone too, can't run (7)<7> trains.

A train has derailed at 34 St (Broadway) The Station has shut down.

Solution:

(Q) Suspended use (:P

(N) Astoria to Queensborough Plaza & 36 St to CI only

(R) Canal St (R) level to Bay Ridge via Lower Manhattan.

(B) Full time service between 145 St and CI replacing (Q). -Will borrow some R160 Sets from (Q).

We've had this thread before, how about merging it?

http://nyctransitforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3771

Because that thread is nearly a year old. Let it rest.

For R32s' disruption:

(N) - split service; Ditmars Blvd to Queensboro Plaza, Atlantic-Pacific to Stillwell Av

(Q) - via 6th Ave to either 21 St-Queensbridge or 145 St

(R) - via 6th Ave/Manhattan Bridge and either 53rd/63rd St tunnel.
