Melvin Posted April 27, 2011 Share #3 Posted April 27, 2011 I rode 5 trains today, & . Only a couple of cars was air-conditoned on the , I was wondering why Bronx bound train at 125 was so empty and it had the heat on . The rest didn't have nothing, no heat or A/C. Messino Posted April 27, 2011 Share #5 Posted April 27, 2011 Are you overweight? Why would there be a need for A/C? Its not even in the 80 degree temps and the humidity isnt high enough..

Urbanfortitude Posted April 27, 2011 Share #8 Posted April 27, 2011 It's a little humid outside but its comfortable. Factor in the idea that you're in a car with a bunch of other people radiating body heat. I just wish there was a way to continue having the platforms be cooler than the surface when the summer hits. trainfan22 Posted April 27, 2011 Share #9 Posted April 27, 2011 Didn't ride the subway today but 2 out of the three buses I rode today had working A/C, the one that didn't work was on but it wasn't working well.
INDman Posted April 28, 2011 Share #10 Posted April 28, 2011 Are you overweight? Why would there be a need for A/C? Its not even in the 80 degree temps and the humidity isnt high enough.. A few of the trains I rode today were blowing hot air. The R160s A/C system is odd, each car has its own thermostat and the A/Cs go on and off at different times. Some will blow cold air while the next car will be hot. Also, they make some of that stations incredibly hot.

INDman Posted April 28, 2011 Share #14 Posted April 28, 2011 There's manuel control...right? No, but each car has it's own thermostat and that A/C is not that strong.
TrainFanatic Posted April 28, 2011 Share #15 Posted April 28, 2011 No, but each car has it's own thermostat and that A/C is not that strong. Hearing how loud they can be you would've thought otherwise.

I have had it with the number 1 train line. 3 days in a row I hit un- air conditioned cars. Maybe they were even the same car the different times I rode. I'll have to make note. Do they ever service these cars to get air working?? Thanks ronnyc
NewUtrecht91 Posted April 30, 2011 Share #18 Posted April 30, 2011 Rode the home about 2 hours ago. No a/c in the entire train. No ventilation at all, everything was off. It had to be at least 80 degrees in there and it was humid. Not to mention I got on at 34th St Herald Sq, which is already beginning to resemble an oven.
