GreatOne2k Posted July 14, 2011 Share #1 Posted July 14, 2011 Bx39 had service added during rush hours, especially N/B during the AM. Midday service is still 10-12 minutes, although there are a lot more 10 minute periods going N/B during the middays adding service there. Some S/B trips have a 12 minute headway a bit longer than before switching to a 10 minute headway a bit later in the morning. Evening service was 'rearranged' 12 minute service became 15 minute service S/B, but the 20 minute service begins around 1 hour later, so it is a cut and an addition of service using the same number of buses. some notable additions old Bx39 AM from Clason Point : 6:40, 6:50, 7:00, 7:10, 7:20, 7:30, 7:40, 7:48, 7:56, 8:04, 8:12, 8:20, 8:28, 8:36, 8:44 new Bx39 AM from Clason Point: 6:40, 6:48, 6:55, 7:01, 7:08, 7:14, 7:21, 7:27, 7:33, 7:45, 7:53, 7:56, 8:02, 8:10, 8:19, 8:20, 8:27, 8:36, 8:
cotb16 Posted July 15, 2011 Share #2 Posted July 15, 2011 I think these changes were done in reaction to a story on the Bx39's ineffectiveness on News 12 The Bronx. Clason's Point riders complained about how the Bx27 (a glorified shuttle from their area to the subways) had better service than the more extensive Bx39. IRT Bronx Express Posted July 15, 2011 Share #3 Posted July 15, 2011 It's a lot worse in the afternoon, even before the extension. At least during the weekday afternoons, there would be no northbound buses during a 15 minute-period.
