Does anyone know what's going to be on this test? I heard from a few people that the book is useless and I really don't know what to study. I been studying the map and I know basic Math.

I didn't get my test location in the mail yet but my friend did and it's a three hour test, so, I guess it covers a lot of things. I just want to know what.

Also, does anyone know how it takes for me to get called? A few months, years..etc...

Thanks.

i recived my letter to take the exam on sat. at bushwick HS in bklyn.i been told that the test will consits of basic math, ability to follow rules and regulations, ability to read a subway map, and basic problem solving questions. sometimes it could take anywhere from a couple of months to a couple of years before you could get called depending on the life of the list. the life of the list is usally three years long so it could be any where in between, also it depends on how well you score on the the test, your list #,and how many people ta needs for that paticular title of station agent.good luck i hope i was helpful

I guess I really don't need the book to study? I'll just go over the map like I been doing. My friend is taking her test on the Lower East side, so I guess they have multiple testing areas. I guess I should wait then, I'll stick with my old job until they call.

Thanks for the info. Good luck as well.

Yea I know, I didn't get it yet and when I called they said they didn't have me in the system. I got to go down to 1 Centre street and see what's going on.

You think they will let me take the test on Saturday? Is that the only test date?

Also, do you know how may questions are on the test?

Thanks.

Well I have taken exam 8011 on Saturday at Bushwick highschool. This testing site is horrible, The test did not start until 11am 2 hours late and it was hot as F!@#. That threw off alot of peoples concentration because they justed wanted to hurry up and get out of their so they probably answered "ABACADABA"all the way down . Also their were alot of mis informed people on the line outside giving out wrong information about the hiring process, they made it seem impossible to get called even if you pass just to discourage people. The test was more difficult than the sanitation test kind of along the lines of the bus operator exam. Their were alot of math questions such as"if you buy a 7.50 fun pass and take 11 trips, what was the actual cost of the trip?" Their were alot of basic questions about how much change do you give a person and basic protocol and question about Train schedules and delays. The only question I think I got wrong was a question about what direction would you walk from murray hill to chelsea. I could not find murray hill on that damn subway map for anything, so I guessed. Good luck to all of those that have taken the test. I will post my score in 4 weeks when the answers come out on the dcas website. Also tell anybody that might take this test in the future.....bring a calculator you will need it. Especially if you dont know your long division(lol).

also any one here take the sanitation test also i seen someone mentioned it but if you did check out this thread also just google dsny thread 6063 theres a lot of good info on what needs to be done to get the job i myself am waiting for sanitation more than anything just need to get my cdl

didnt mean to hijack this thread with dsny info... so yea does anyone remember the choices for the city hall question i dont remember if park row was one but i think that would be the answer right?

ROFL!!! I got stumped on the same two questions. What are the odds of that happening? The first thing I did when I got home was to Google Murray Hill to find out precisely where it was, and to confirm what streets bordered City Hall in Manhattan. I guess like most lifelong Brooklynites, I'm way too provincial for my own good. I can recite every neighborhood in Brooklyn in my sleep, but when it comes to fancy-schmanzy Manhattan, there are still some nooks & crannies that I'm not familiar with.

ABE123 - I don’t recall what all four choices were, but the two I distinctly recall was your selection, Court St, and my selection, Murray St. I got lucky on that one. I had no idea where Murray St. was and guessed at the answer. All I knew was that Court St. was in Brooklyn and that the other two choices (which I can’t remember now) were incorrect.

1daysoon – I sympathize. The conditions at FDR High School here in Bensonhurst were equally brutal. The group I was assigned to (3rd session) was slated to take the exam at 7pm. Unfortunately, it started to rain at around 6:30, and those of us who got there early & waited in line got peppered. When we were finally escorted inside the school & sent to our respective rooms, they made us wait an interminable amount of time just to get the damn test started. The rooms were not air conditioned & and poorly ventilated.

Other than that, the test itself was fairly easy, & the proctors were very friendly. One of the people assigned to administer our test actually volunteered to go downstairs to the vending machine to get anyone who wanted one a bottled water before the test began. She didn’t have to do that, and the laughs she generated while joking with people as she went around the room to collect money for the vending machine helped to ease some of the tension that the long wait in the rain & the sticky heat had created.

I never took the station agent exam,I like to read other threads in this forum,as the bus operator threads are at a standstill at this time. Still it is good to take as many exams as you are qualified for.

With my luck I will get called for sanman and bus driver at the same time,

  • 3 weeks later...

From my paper, it shows I have 7 incorrect answers, that ='s to a score of 91.25. I dont think that's a good enough score due to the amount of people who took the exam. There were 3 sessions, that's a lot of people. From what i heard the city only hired 635 from the last exam. so that means you have to score high. well that's my opinion. What do you think??

You wont be able to tell until they release the list numbers. I got a 101.5 on the sanitation test..thats right a 101.5 and my list number is in the low 2thousands. Hopefully a 90 is good enough.
