(F) operates in two sections:

179th Street, Queens-57th Street, Manhattan

West 4th Street, Manhattan-Coney Island, Brooklyn

 

As for keeping the (M), those riders got screwed for WAY too long and the M is a popular line from Broadway-Brooklyn, plus, it does help cut down the crowds to Lexington-53rd. That's why I do it that way I do.

 

OH MY GOD...THERE ARE MORE BROOKLYN (F) RIDERS THAN (M) RIDERS!!! Please don't try to deny this...You will screw up more people's commutes by cutting the (F).

As for using the TM tracks on the C from Hoyt-Schermehorn, that is specifically to keep the A express in Brooklyn because otherwise, politicians, especially those on the Lefferts line might very well get upset even if the A went local because of an emergency. If they are aware of the TM tracks, they probably would insist on those being used to keep the C running in Brooklyn if necessary in order for the A to stay express no matter what (outside of overnights).

 

Have you given ANY thought to the fact that the Transit Museum tracks stop at an ABANDONED PLATFORM with NO FUNCTIONING EXITS TO THE STREET? By the way, the (A) train running local only adds FOUR MINUTES. As a temporary service change, do you really expect politicians to get mad?

 

Now I only say that this is foamerish because you do this on practically every scenario, even when there's a perfectly good way to keep all trains running smoothly.

It's not foamerish. It just makes no sense. The term "foamer" seems to be losing it's meaning, and is now used to describe any railfan who comes up with ridiculous ideas. If you want to learn what "foamerish" means, feel free to do so:

Because of a mechanical problem, 6 Av/53 St Junction is impassable.

(B) runs between W 4th Street and Brighton Beach

(D) runs in 2 sections: 205th Street to 145th Street - W 4th Street to Coney Island

(F) runs in 2 sections: 179th Street to 57th Street - 42nd Street to Coney Island

(M) runs in 2 sections: Forest Hills to 53rd/Lexington Av - 42nd Street to Metropolitan Av

 

(E) runs between Jamaica Center and 53rd/Lexington Av

 

The local (F)(M) terminate at 42nd Street while the express (B)(D) terminate at W 4th in order to avoid switching problems

Due to switching failure, the downtown Central Park West tracks must connect with the 6th Avenue express tracks. That means all southbound trains coming down Central Park West MUST turn onto 53rd Street and then end up on the 6th Avenue express tracks.

(M) No trains between Broad St and 71 Av. Trains in Queens become ®s between Whitehall St and 71 Av.

 

Solution to my problem:

(B)(D) Trains run via Broadway Express and 63 St, then via the (F) to 179 St.

(D) Shuttle trains run between 205 St and World Trade Center.

(E) Trains run via 63 St and Broadway Express to Pacific St.

(F) No trains between 42 St-Bryant Park and 179 St. Use the (B)(D)(E) and transfer at 34 St for alternative service.

(M) No trains between 71 Av and West 4 St.

(N)(Q) Trains run via the (R) between Dekalb Av and 57 St in both directions.

 

NEXT

Because of a washout, the 53 St tunnel is unusable between 23 St-Court Sq and 5 Av, inclusive.

I'll ignore the foaming but respond as to why this would not work:

For this to work, not only would the (M) have to share the tracks with the (B)(C) on Central Park West, but with the (B)(D) between Columbus Circle and 42nd Street, and then with the (F) to Downtown.

 

All of this switching would cause delays on the (A)(B)(C)(D)(F), plus delays on the (E) due to the (C) being delayed. Terminating it at 57th Street (F) would cause less delays than your ridiculous solution.

 

And I didn't even talk about how illogical and moronic it would be to send the (M) to somewhere where it clearly shouldn't be. Doing so would make its route longer than it currently is when it goes to Queens, which would require you to either add additional trains or increase headways.

Remember that the (E) is running via the (F) on 6 Av, so the (E)(F)(M) would not fit there.

 

If the (M) runs via 8 Av (as stated), it does not interfere with the (E), nor the (B)(D). The next best alternative would be to cut it to Broad St and increase (R) service north of Whitehall (that would probably be better, as a matter of fact), but Wallyhorse wanted to keep the (M) in Midtown.

Actually, I looked at pics of the platforms at Botanic Garden from recent years, and I believe those platforms WOULD be able to fit a 300' train. In a situation like what is suggested, that would crucial to get a transfer between the (2)/(3)/(4)/(5) and Brighton line since that would be the main way of getting there.

 

As for the (B), I didn't realize that could not change directions, so with that in mind, modifying what I said earlier:

 

(B) runs to/from 2nd Avenue (F) station.

(Q) runs Coney Island-Botantic Garden (S) station, using the Prospect Park-bound track to terminate (300' trains only).

Franklin Avenue (S) runs a single train between Botanic Garden and Franklin Avenue on the Franklin Avenue-bound track

Shuttle trains run single track in both directions on both tracks between Prospect Park and Atlantic Avenue (Q) station.

 

Everything else stays as is.
