GojiMet86 Posted May 26, 2012 Share #2 Posted May 26, 2012 Cool vids! Heard they're the longest rapid transit trains in the U.S., and their propulsion sounds like an R142.
MarkD329 Posted May 27, 2012 Share #3 Posted May 27, 2012 The propulsion sounds more like the WMATA trains than the R142s. The R142s [and the R143 and R160s] have a higher pitched whine before the trains get up to speed.
Fan Railer Posted May 27, 2012 Author Share #4 Posted May 27, 2012 C Cars (flat end cab cars) use Westinghouse DC chopper units, and sound like the 4000 series cars from WMATA. A cars (wedge shaped cab units) and B cars (intermediate trailers) were refurbished with AdTranz/Bombardier propulsion, and are basically a higher pitched version of the R142A and R143 cars. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=snomwtbSHkg

4P3607 Posted May 30, 2012 Share #7 Posted May 30, 2012 those cars sound like a mix of the Market-Frankford Adtranz M4 cars, the Newark light rail cars (forgot what they were called), and an R142A. sound pretty nice, would like to go out there someday! you have to pay as you go along the line right? EDIT: @ 3:35 on the second to last video (the post where u said the AC propulsion sounds nice) is that an RTS below?
