Bill from Maspeth Posted December 28, 2012 Share #2 Posted December 28, 2012 WTF are you asking?
LIRR 154 Posted December 28, 2012 Share #3 Posted December 28, 2012 Like I said before do your work and be on time. You do that while probation you don't have to worry about that. People get lay off because they chose to . You have to be a real screw up to get fired from the MTA period.
Truckie Posted December 28, 2012 Share #4 Posted December 28, 2012 I think he means furlough as opposed to fire. To the OP, you may want to consider to sticking to one thread regarding CAMs. This makes it a little easier than starting a new thread for each question. INDman Posted December 28, 2012 Share #5 Posted December 28, 2012 I don't work for the LIRR, but ANY job can have layoffs. Having seniority means you less likely to get laid off but it could happen.
LIRR 154 Posted December 28, 2012 Share #6 Posted December 28, 2012 I haven't seen or heard nothing about Cams being furloughed. But I can't say never with the leaders in DC screwing up it could have a huge trickle down effect to us since we are government workers. But let's hope they get their act together. mastap123 Posted January 11, 2013 Author Share #8 Posted January 11, 2013 do cam get paid more than oilers are visa versa
LIRR 154 Posted January 11, 2013 Share #9 Posted January 11, 2013 I think its the same. But we get more overtime and we have better options in where we want to work as far as yards ,times and shifts. In some rare instances you could even be a car repairmen helper in the shop or assisting a car inspector or engineer when help is needed in the yard. LIRR 154 Posted January 11, 2013 Share #10 Posted January 11, 2013 Also not all Cam jobs are not in the yard. You also can own a cam job working station where you do a quick pick up when trains come into the station like Atlantic Terminal Brooklyn, Penn Station , Babylon and some cases Jamaica. Brighton Local Posted March 6, 2013 Share #12 Posted March 6, 2013 As LIRR explained the CAM position, Ill just add, just come to work and clean your trains and nobody will have anything to say to you. My Partner went bye bye over the summer because of lateness while on probation. Its a good job and im heading to my 5th Yard tomorrow. I own a job (again) hopefully I wont get bumped again. Next time it comes up on the MTA Site, definitely apply for it. Good Luck! Zach
