j express Posted December 10, 2013 Share #2 Posted December 10, 2013 So during that G.O all trains were stored at the layup tracks between Brightion Beach and Ocean Pkwy?
P3F Posted December 10, 2013 Share #3 Posted December 10, 2013 I still don't get how both and trains terminated at Brighton before CI reopened, it seems like Brighton wouldn't have the capacity for that with its switch configuration.
Brighton Local Posted December 10, 2013 Author Share #4 Posted December 10, 2013 I still don't get how both and trains terminated at Brighton before CI reopened, it seems like Brighton wouldn't have the capacity for that with its switch configuration. The used to pull in on 1 Track (Normal Coney Island Bound Track) Drop-out, proceed into 5 track, the pocket south of Brighton towards Ocean Pkwy, Dump, Change Ends, Relay back into Brighton Beach on 3 Track (Coney Island-Bound Express Track) Doors Open, Doors Close, proceeds North of Brighton, crosses over twice back to the Manhattan-Bound Local Track (A2). The simply used to use 4 Track ( The Manhattan-Bound Express at Brighton Beach both directions). Awesome operation actually. So during that G.O all trains were stored at the layup tracks between Brightion Beach and Ocean Pkwy? Yes, Ocean Parkway to North of Brighton Beach, all layups.
